We're Rebels?
A thief and vendor/merchant's daughter, Helena, have known each other nearly all their lives. Thief tricks Helena, Helena tries to outsmart Thief; it's always been that way. Their dynamic is generally fairly harmless and even though Helena blusters at him when he outsmarts her or manages to steal something from her stall, she has also hidden him from city guard and fixed him up when he manages to get hurt too badly. There has been a radical shift in power recently, however and it's going to change life as they know it.
The general idea would be that the new king begins to quickly implement pretty evil laws. Over taxing the poor; segregating by wealth, race, and/or species; reintroducing slavery and fighting pits; it's really up to us to come up with something or mix and match any of the above. The new king would be a force to be reckoned with and have a rather frightening reputation. He might even earn this reputation by brutally crushing the first wave of rebellion.
Helena and Thief won't stand for the way it's effecting their community, though. They hide people that are in trouble from the new laws, they help people pay their dues with stolen coin, etc. They would start out just trying to help people but before they know it they're pretty much leading a rebellion which neither of them are really prepared for.
Healer Save The Queen
The Queen has fallen ill and has yet to bear an heir. Court physicians and healers from far and wide have failed in returning health to the young queen. Without an heir, if the queen dies, the kingdom will fall into chaos. There are several mystic and notorious healers in the far corners of the world. Trusted king's guard have been sent out to search these corners and return with their queen's and kingdom's final hope.
This could honestly go any number of ways. We could play warriors setting out to find one of the mystic healers and meeting all kinds of obstacles along the way—including agents of the evil who have poisoned or cursed the king. Or the warrior having to convince the healer to come back to the kingdom and then more obstacles along the road. There's always room for court intrigue once they get back to the palace, too.
I am totally cool with playing a warrior or a healer. I have characters I love for both.
