@Nika Vulpes Medicine cats can have mates. Snowstep can have a mate if she wants. I could say that you can have a mate in a different clan, like what warriors can, but if they want to go to that clan to be with a mate, then the medicine cat is going to need a fully trained apprentice to take over for them when they leave.
Exactly. They live too far away from humans to know anything more human-terms such as resin.

As for the NPC thing, yes, that's D&D. Which also is a rp thing, I'm aware. But not a written roleplay. That's a tabletop kinda game, not a more story-themed thing that roleplays like these are written.

As such, all characters will be controlled by a living person. Be it yourself or another person that you let have the character.
Also, Roxy pointed out, and told you, there are no NPC cats. Wolves, foxes, whatever as well. A person plays all characters. There is never a character that won't have a living being writing for them. NPCs are characters not controlled by a living person. That only for video games. If you want to make characters that people can take and write for, then that's fine. But they're not NPCs. They're more like adopts that people can "adopt" from you, or that you let other people borrow to write for during the Roleplay.
@Nika Vulpes Cats wouldn't know what tar is, so Pinepaw's name would need to be changed to something different.
The same applies to the foxes, wolves, and other animal groups that have medics as well. Of course, some can ban that or whatever, depending on the nature of the leader, but still.
@Squashedquatch That rule has, and always will be, stupid to me. Doctors and nurses in the real world can have families, and not lose focus on their duties. So the medics in this world can as well.

For female medicine cats, if they choose to settle down with a mate and have kits, they have to have an apprentice that's fully trained to take over while they're nursing their kittens for six months. This, obviously, doesn't apply to male medicine cats.
Because this isn't Warriors and medicine cats can have mates.
