Bio

I am an old roleplayer from the days of Dial-up where everyone went home to roleplay anime adventures after watching their afternoon toonami run, and probably older than that. I started around the late 90s distinctively because I recall playing Final Doom and Metal Gear Solid while trolling Compuserve chat rooms and roleplaying so maybe a year before 99 or 98 generously? Speaking of Compuserve.

After the amount of FUN I had in AOL I switched ISPs because AOL sucked in terms of service. I got to taste blood in PVP beyond the scope of what I already obtained in AOL.. my own blood. I saw the contrast between different fighting styles and fell in love with such an idea of an infinite universe of roleplay fighting, but not before my bewildering OTK. AOL had its great fighting talent, but Compuserve's original Zones pvp was a different beast entirely. There was no rhyme or reason. There was only fighting and permanent (almost) killing. People spent days researching frivolous AskJeeve science articles, obscure words, not-established supernatural theories, actual unproven theories, and overall cheapness to kill other players. I changed. I went from barely spelling to spelling decently. I vested time in the ability to put my wit against the locals on a daily basis and the excitement of dueling, raids, or simple death matches.

Then I forgot there was an entire universe, and fell in love all over again. I lost internet but gained determination. I'd discover free-form roleplaying on RPGchat back in 2003 and changed once again. I was introduced to a more laid back but sensible scale of power-efficiency. These people were more concerned about player positioning and simplicity than abstract and absurd metaphysics, and though Compuserve's meta had remain true to function it didn't offer the tone to level down a bit to something comprehensible. Scale the pointless and streamline your idea. The universe was a big place for me and I think that excited me more. My ambition for battle and war matched now a bigger scale and I would fight randoms all over to just prepare for it. RPGchat was good for one specific thing and that's style in writing. Forum based roleplaying focused specifically on how well you actually wrote circa 2004 and up, and my propensity for verbosity had to adjust. Transitioning is a term I'd use but you'd think I was talking about an operation.

2005 got my net back and suddenly my 3 to 4 paragraph barely able to post a day became a tremendous 7 paragraph and up epic for a specific fight because I. Love. This. So. Much. Ask Reno. My fight bout back into the game was by-far the most intense nights of my career because I was active, fierce, and finally took in everything I've learned. My character then is my main now. Jhieten represents that drive and dedication I put in from hours of even attempting to get one hour of net in a forum that demanded a decent level of quality in modern-fantasy clan feuding. An addiction is one that requires a fix from a fiend. You can't fix passion. I OTK'd Murrocko something nasty he never recovered from. I wonder till this day if he still thinks about that. Reno's proposal to go around wrecking shit titillated me more than the act itself. I think that's what makes me fight PVP. The idea of just fighting and killing itself is much more exciting and keeps me focused; however, let's ignore the paranoia some of my Ls awarded me. No one talks about their defeats. Shhhh.

2005 is my best year. Fighting here. Killing there. Being apart of a big clan and being its main big bad enforcer guy. I messed it up introducing Delve to Reno and had to kill the operation. I lament that still. Poor Reno. He was in the way of our cross-fire. Fellow zoner rivalry has its casualties I'm afraid, but it isn't like I didn't suffer. I became a moderator on Animeleague. That's pain. I became a new moderator for a new clan nation section thanks to Rita and... yeah, Delve; unfortunately, that was short lived because of a combination of both roleplay shenanigans and personal issues that were concurrent and intertwined. I broke my own separation of business and personal. We all learn the hard way. Back to RPGchat.

2006 is a year I don't like talking about. Let's talk about 2007. I did absolutely nothing of value on RPGchat because I got a little too caught up in making trouble ooc, arguments, and playing DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Sorry Ru; however, this is the year that changed everything. TheZones Duel League. A tournament I made to just run a tournament on a forum no one cares about but me. I modeled the damn thing out of my love of Compuserve's zones which precipitated my penchant for unwarranted violence and murder. Compuserve no longer had its actual players in it so it's time to reinvent the wheel -- make it better. What a year to learn that players will cheat to win and cause drama. Taste of my own medicine (except the cheating part). TZDL2007 didn't change how I viewed the game anymore than just restructuring the definitions of rules and being more concrete; by the way, changes that are huge are usually subtle and slow. I say that unironically.

2009 though. I got Paradox, Ru came around, Argryia... what a player. Basically I got some veterans I knew from AOL and one from MSN (Mystic). Decoy got training to get into Vertex (we were going to crash RPGchat) and ran another fun tournament. This was a bit different though. I got to see Ares get completely crushed by Ru. Holy hell I didn't know she can play that way. Oh snap Argryia is actually pre -- THE $%#@ IS STRING META?! WHAT?! So that can be done.. I always wondered that. Huh.. guess Mystic couldn't handle that. Poor guy. Paradox why did you even use an EMP bomb that early? Now I have to call Meta-game. Everyone seemed to LOVE the definition list though. I learned that I've acquired a new talent and love for the game that transcended even violence itself. I discovered there's order in what people believed is chaos, and they didn't know because these phenomenons didn't have definitions. They were never invoked by name but by action. Man this universe gets bigger the smaller an object actually is. Then TZDL2011 hit and blew everything away. There's a demand.

At first people just like the definition list and some sites asked to borrow it. Ok cool, but now they are asking me to write more. They want to know these terminologies. There's a name for occurrences. I overhauled my baby, made live-streams, podcast interviews, and general fun asshattery in our ooc or phone conferences. I got to meet the wonderful people of ZEJ (once was called CoU) and that's how I got acquainted with Keileon (known as Jason at the time). Draven finally joined. Argryia and Ru is there and the first clan rivalry between the AoA and.. Vertex? Well can't really have a clan rivalry in a tournament that has people representing themselves but Lokanas sure believed he'd beat Argryia. I warned him not to underestimate her cause she's a girl. I know he thinks I fucked him over but that OTK is now legacy to a player who became the literal embodiment of top tier play at the time. She'll thank him moreso than insult the guy, but I'm sure his scorn is much more lethal. TZDL2011 was the height of some of the ooc memes and fun but I learned a lot about being a judge and running an event, a community, and myself. I've learned to calm down. I want my players, assets, to have fun. They like the balance, meta, and information. I will give them even more next time. They'd have to just wait 8 months for a semi-finals round... oops. $#@! Skypark.

TZDL2012 is when I learned the meta from a much more bigger picture and every year since my understanding grew. I became content in watching my players compete and perform to expected levels though Argryia just kept growing. Really. I got to see Paradox and Seth Mayvus come around, Draven compete, Keileon compete, Goliath debuts, Ru come back, and Argryia showing everyone she is a legitimately good player. I was not defanged -- quite the opposite. I realized my fangs needed sharpening, but it isn't your bite that's lethal. It's the force. What I saw there changed everything and it all came together again.. until certain shit happened but we'll just not bring it up. Sorry Seth and Paradox because your match suffered because of it.

From there on my love for exploration overcame the game itself.. by exploring the game itself.
vertex.wikia.com/wiki/Home_Page

Instead I invested my time understanding concepts, tactics, theories, and even functions of the game I thought I knew and I kind of actually did. That's not the thing that surprised me. What surprised me is that EVERYONE already knows.. they just don't know they are invoking these concepts, at least not by name or a uniformed jargon.. maybe lexicon? I'm not in the mood to synonym this. From here on I am much more interested in seeing new applications of the meta or how it's used rather than beating someone up.. but that's because I want to see order and structure to some degree. Prometheus Project. Not related to NASA. Dabo Ignem. I'll be punished accordingly, but first the mission. I dedicate a lot of my brain power into roleplaying and not just going in a thread and pretending to be a weeb because that doesn't interest me.. not in the conventional way. It's full-circle here. The competitive streak of the original zones and the free-form liberty of 2005 where RPGchat's c/g and Animeleague's.. CN? I don't know. Whatever. Anyway the free-form thing. Yeah. That. Bring back a time of roleplay where pvp was fun as much as it was deviously competitive, but this time with some uniformity and some structure. Definitely NO POLITICS.. unless IC where most people's attention SHOULD BE AT!

@Mobius Would you like to get in on this?

Why would i?
Alright Junction, I am going to ask for your available as well as everyone now. Please respond and post in your fight.
I am going to start asking for availability of both players and seems Xavier answered. Dias, give me yours as well for the week.
Ruling
  • Excalibur is disputed to not have any defined characteristics as a pivotal point of defense of Dias Blade match. It is not in the profile sheet and, as previously mentioned in a prior ruling, cannot determine its functions, properties, and thus limitations.
  • Flash Freeze is not disputed by the judges. Dias Blade is capable within his power to create this ability not only by virtue of his profile sheet, but by TZDL ruling:

You CANNOT use any power, weapon, ability, item, or etc that is NOT stated in your profile sheet UNLESS authorized by a map; however, you may use or create byproducts of your abilities, weapons, power, items, etc through In Character creativity.
  • Dias Blade did adequately mitigate the saw disc.

"At the instant Xavier's second try with the saw blades made contact, they were promptly met with the same outcome had they managed to hit last time." ~ Dias Blade, 4th post 4th Paragraph 1
  • Xavier has failed to mitigate the flash freeze's effect.

Verdict: The Saw Disc incident is a minor rule in this fight, but it determines the characteristics of Dias' continuous Excalibur barrier. The attack by Xavier's saw disc triggers a condition in Dias' radiant field that repels kinetic forces and distributes back additional force to a foreign object. Upon activation of this ability all foreign energies emitted from Xavier in the form of his Dread Particles are also withheld from entering. The third is a caveat denoting exceptions to what may pass this barrier, but with no frame of reference we cannot enforce these conditions. Only Dias will know, and has made use of this exception in the form of his own attack; however, it does not involve the Flash Freeze incident and the radiant barrier, regardless of its kinetic repulsion, can actively ward off Dread Energy from a clause in Xavier's profile sheet.

Xavier's dread particles state in his profile sheet:

"The structural integrity of weapons and armor may begin to waiver after several direct hits and/or physical blocks of the Dread Energy. Unless said weapons or armor are in someway preventing direct contact being made. Such as generating their own energy in some way or being coated with a protective barrier. Other means of preventing physical contact can be accessible.
Can induce insanity through sustained exposure to heavily tainted air or through several physical attacks of this or any other varying attack forms."
~ Xavier Bloodbayne, Dread Energy - Third bullet

This indicates that "some" form of protection is permissible to ward off Dread Energy or Dread Particles. The kinetic properties of Dias' barrier can be considered inconsequential in this instance because Dread Energy precipitates the condition in which its own power cannot effect physical objects if "some" form of defense is activated. The ruling indicating the 5 elemental aspects of Narria involve the basic core elements including light. The Radiance Barrier Dias Blade uses is composed of a light using "energy" to repel Dread Energy. That plainly means that the interaction with Dread Energy and Dias' own energy field is absolute. The additional effects of the Excalibur barrier is in question.

Dias Blade's barrier has specific conditions to be met in order for this barrier to meet a threshold, but we do not have this information readily available. Without a framework for such an ability it is impossible to accurately determine its legitimacy of functionality. An example will be the following:

"Of course, the only downside was that this also applied to Dias as well. Most of his own attacks would likewise be unable to penetrate the EXCALIBUR's barrier, a double edged sword." ~ Dias Blade, 2nd number, paragraph 4.

We do not know anything about the limits of this barrier. Such an ability WILL HAVE TO BE mentioned in the profile sheet and thus considered illegal; however, it was approved of because it is burned ether.

"Suddenly, the space within a thirty yard radius around him started to become distorted. Using the SoulLink to project a constant stream of ether which permeated all physical matter, he established a sphere of influence around himself compromised of the raw imaginative energy." ~ Dias Blade, First Post - ARMIGER

The legitimacy of its ability ward almost everything makes aspects of this defense illegal, but not all of it entirely. What does make it illegal is that Dias was able to attack through his own defense without prior knowledge on our end what constitutes exceptions to his own barrier's condition. These properties and functions are outside of the Five Narria Ruling as they were established prior to and do not fall within the realm of what's described by Ether. The field protecting the operator from Dread Energy is acceptable even by admission of Dread Energy's own functionality. We cannot substantiate kinetic forces being repelled in the fashion Dias described, and as before no defense or force cannot go unchallenged. The question goes "What exceptions CAN go through?" hence needing to be placed in his sign ups. The outcome of this analysis?

This match will continue into

Sudden Death

This fight continues under the following conditions
  • Flash Freeze is in effect: Xavier voluntarily took a hit from a legitimate attack. He is frozen.
  • Flash Freeze Thaw: Xavier may thaw from the flash freeze over time in a few post
  • Flash Freeze Contention: Xavier did not mention the heat of his Dread Flames playing a factor. He cannot instantly unfreeze.
  • Flash Freeze Contention 2: Xavier can use his abilities to continue the fight
  • Flash Freeze Contention 3: Xavier stopped at the point when he was frozen. Due to gravity his body will fall to the floor as it will be unable to move to complete his original attack sequence.
  • Excalibur Barrier is disable: This is a penalty for a rule violation. Excalibur cannot be invoked again.
  • It is possible for Dias to enact another protection provided it is within the previous rulings and his profile sheet.
  • Penalty and enforcement: Dias is restricted only purely to his profile sheet and provisions. He may improvise provided his character abilities allow it strictly.
  • Explosion initiated by Dias: Dias initiated an attacked to intercept Xavier's flight. He will not be in flight frozen at the time he stopped before propelling himself. The explosion was described by Dias Blade to launch him into the open ceiling which is located in the Courtyard, but Xavier stopped within the Porch section facing the courtyard before launching.

From here on both players post with this information normally. Xavier, you may post first when ready. The platforms in the Courtyard lowers after this point on as provided by the stage description.
Ruling
  • Xavier's skin was halfway removed and destroyed by the previous beam attack from Dias as indicated by Xavier's EOD post.
  • Dias will cancel the remaining portion of his beam attack. He'll initiate the flash freeze with the ether from the attack.
  • Dread particles are confirmed to only be frozen if at a specific size1
  • Flash-Freeze aura is emitted from the barrier's location and expanding outward.
  • Flash-Freeze has an effect to "instantly freeze" on contact with any physical object. The 2nd effect pertains to ice crystallizing from the freezing with the same effect as the Flash-Freeze.
  • The ice crystals that formed permeated the same aura. This concludes that Dias' Excalibur barrier emitted the same flash-freeze properties having shift blue as an elemental color indication.
  • Dias Blade IS capable of creating and manipulating elements he controls provided Ether is its core supply of generation2
  • It was ruled previously that he is allowed elemental control of the primary six elements of Narria: Water being an element in the ruling.
  • Dread Energy does destroy and wears down physical matter over time3 though it pertain to shields and weaponry but they are tangible thus validated.
  • Flash-Freeze's ability to freeze an object is immediate with the time indicator of "instant" as a duration value.
  • It would be impossible for Xavier to dig his nails into the grooves of the stage since it's invincible; however, it might also mean he wedged his toes into the wedges to slow his momentum when fixing his position. It isn't how the act is performed but this plays a critical role in the verdict below.
  • Xavier will reach a stopping point of his advance when his toes hooked into the grooves. He'd use this position to coil enough to spring towards Dias. This is another absolute critical point to the verdict.
  • The stopping point of Xavier's contorted body's path narrates how Dias' flash freezing aura makes contact against the "metallic head" of Xavier. He is "hit" in the head first at this stopping point.
  • Xavier will describe the effects of the flash freeze by denoting the ice crystal formulating throughout his body. This is the 2nd effect of Dias' flash-freeze aura and the finality of a confirmed hit.
  • Dread Flame is akin to ordinary flame with a faster burning/eradicating rate.
  • Xavier's character does not have many vital organs, but it is confirmed he does have a brain (Profile sheet: Enhanced Body, final bullet)4
  • Dread Flame's heat was not described as to what counteracts the ice crystal agents but their Dread Particle properties.

Verdict

Dias Blade is capable of wielding the elemental ice as it is a solid state of water crystallizing. His profile sheet and the ruling indicates them in tandem.

"Once burned, unstable raw Ether which is essentially undefined energy can then be defined using base elements, such as Metal to craft simple weapons like Swords." ~ Dias Blade, Ether Burn (TZDL2017) - Third Paragraph

"The Five primary elements of Narria are

Fire
Water
Earth
Air
Light."
~ Mobius 2nd Ruling5

The elements Dias can control or generate was indicated in his previous bout with Leeroy where he created a Scythe and then super-heated it. It can be determined that elemental is both chemical and fantasy. This allows Dias Blade to craft weaponry and manipulate their temperature as well as generate natural forces. Water, being an element in both regards to periodic table configuration and fantasy, was frozen to a solid state as provided by Ether. Dias cancelled the finality of his beam to use what remained to create his Flash Freeze. Flash Freeze may not be an energy field but a product of that changes the ambient temperature on contact to an absolute freezing point within an instant.

Xavier's body and its exposed skeleton was stated in the EOD post previous to Dias' Flash-Freeze where at least halve of his flesh was removed from the resulting beam he survived.6 In the next set of actions he'd race to the north of the stage before contorted his body to face east while continuing his trajectory in the hopes of propelling off the wall. His dread particles will notify him of the freezing wave emitting from his opponent throughout the duration of his post as validated by his profile sheet involving Dread Energy and Dread particles as an extrasensory. By this point Xavier will already be imbued by his own Dread energy aura.

Xavier's skin repels energy, but no energy is expelled by the flash-freeze as it's a byproduct of "energy" spent to create it. The flesh of Xavier is already removed prior so little insulation is provided regardless. Xavier also contains 3 times more blood than a human though it consist of dread fluid. The properties of Dread Energy remains consistent that upon anything not of itself does dissolve and erode objects; however, there's a duration in which prolong exposure causes the aforementioned erosion. The first physical contact Xavier's character will meet involve Dias in this instance was the flash freeze, and he indicated that it would:

"In that same instant, which he finally stopped, the freezing Aura slammed home against the top of his metallic head and a multitude of ice crystals began to manifest all over his body" ~ Xavier Bloodbayne, 5th post - 6th paragraph

This is a confirmed hit from Dias' attack with the aforementioned effects mentioned.

"Upon contact with physical matter, a flash freeze effect was demonstrated as anything touched became instantly frozen with ice forming. The ice possessed the same aura and was literally growing itself while spreading throughout the arena at an alarming rate." ~ Dias Blade, 4th post - 5th paragraph

There are an abundant amount of discrepancies we uncovered. Xavier first allowed the wave to make contact with him and in particular his exposed cranium. Dread Metal does not indicate any stipulation against freezing effects of cooler temperatures, and Dias described the effects of his freezing as "instant" so the duration of the aforementioned freeze is instantaneous. The second issue is that Xavier stopped his momentum at this very point in which he'd succumb to the freezing. This is important because if he is frozen then the rest of his attack may not have occurred.

Xavier's flame does burn and at a greater rate of "flame", but at which rate we cannot determine and again it is at a rate versus the immediate freeze of Dias' wave. The important detail is that his "flames" Dread energy effect only targets the crystals. They do not prevent the instant freeze which ignites the ice crystals effect. Xavier, instead, described as having been effected by the flash freeze and allowed ice crystals to form throughout his body before igniting his aura into dread flame. Dread Flame is akin to ordinary fire with a different coloration and burning rate having a dread energy affinity, but dread energy itself does not instantly dissolve matter. Ice crystals forming all over from the same aura of Dias' flash freeze means the instant freezing attack is wholesale.

"But just as fast as they had appeared, they were destroyed as the air was permeated with the ear piercing shrieks of a thousand damned and tortured souls as the Dread Energy coating his body was ignited in order to coat himself in Dreadful Flames. It was not the heat of these flames that was destroying these ice crystals, but rather the unique property they carried which allowed them to destroy physical matter upon contact;" ~ Xavier Bloodbayne, 5th Post - 6th Paragraph

Dread Flame nor Dread Energy immediately destroys matter. The flame's heat itself by Xavier's admission did not target the ice crystals in an attempt to thaw. The ice crystals was already made and is only made because Xavier was "instantly frozen" by Dias' ice wave upon contact voluntarily. That indicates he'll be frozen by the time these ice crystals form, but the flames do not combat the actual freeze. It cannot be instant because Dread Flame nor Dread Energy immediately destroys matter either. There's 3 distinct instances that mention this.

"The structural integrity of weapons and armor may begin to waiver after several direct hits and/or physical blocks of the Dread Energy." ~ Dread Energy, 3rd Bullet

"The Dread Metal, as it would be named, gained its special properties through decades of breaking down a stone lake bed before Xavier has found it." ~ Dread Metal, description

"On the whole these flames would operate much like ordinary flames. They do however burn with a dark red hue. The infusion of Dread Energy grants them the ability to burn eradicate matter at a higher rate as well as allows Xavier to create his flames on a whim." ~ Dread Flame

Versus

"It was no more than a minute after Xavier had first fallen into the black lake, time passing much slower in the real world."
"Inside The like he found what remained of his body lying at the bottom; already a skeleton as the Chaos Energy had eaten away the flesh"
~ Xavier Bloodbayne, the chronicles - final 6 paragraphs.

The chaos energy destroying the original Xavier was a product of the Chaos God Mitsurashi and though both are almost indistinguishable. The degeneration rate differs from these two instances. It can be argued they are exactly similar except for Xavier's will, but the story's effects of Chaos energy from the lake was the product of another will having a different erosion rate than the profile sheet suggest from Dread Energy's own abilities (since Xavier awoken to find his body destroyed). Chaos energy became Dread energy upon successful accession of Xavier Bloodbayne's title to the new "chaos god" of his canon and the body dissolving only occurred by whim of Mitsurashi instead.

The final and most vital piece of information is Xavier's own anatomy. Xavier has replaced and removed vital organs of his body to perpetuate Dread Fluid (liquid dread energy), but Xaiver does contain a brain. The brain of Xavier itself is still a vital organ in which information and will of the character is signaled. There's no indication in his profile sheet that he is removed from bodily death and though it is possible for Xavier to survive losing a body (including a brain) he might not be able to reassemble another bodily construct in time and thus will be unable to battle. This is indicated in the backstory of Xavier where he first learned to create a body from his own, killed others, and then fashioned an optimized body based on encounters he's had. This means some time is necessary for the creation of another construct. Xavier's brain is still the vital organ in which he gives and receives information especially in this fight when regarding Dread Energy's extrasensory. The brain is not a solid object (it's more of a liquid) and exposure to the flash freeze first with a metallic surface interacting with it would also instantly freeze the brain:

"Xavier has enhanced the neuron pathways that send signals from his brain to his various limbs. Allowing his body to beginning reacting at an increased rate." ~ Enhanced Body, Final Bullet

The brain being frozen will render him paralyzed and unable to continue as he'll have confirmed a hit by the flash freeze, and any commands he gives will also be mesmerized. A point of contention can be made by the Dread Energy aura surrounding Xavier, but by admission Dread Particles are unaffected by the flash-freeze in which some form of correlation is deduced. Xavier narrated that only the larger particles were spellbound but smaller particles were immune or unaffected, but these enlarged Dread Particles are a product of cannibalization from his EOD post and thus not a natural occurrence of Dread Energy's inherited behavior.

"However, this freezing sensation would have an effect on only those particles closest to the radiant barrier; whose physical presence had been increased to allow them to combat the barrier. The smaller of the particles were raw Dread Energy and thus possessed no physical presence, rendering them immune from the freezing effects that were targeting physical matter." ~ Xavier's x post6

This is true as they will be energy; however, the liquid dread energy inside of Xavier and his body is solid matter and will freeze akin to the engorged Dread Particles. This may explain how the flash-freeze emission was able to make contact, but also determines that he'll be frozen and internally as well:

"Xavier has replaced the blood in his body with a liquid metal form dread energy substitute" ~ Xavier Bloodbayne, Dread Metal - First Sentence

"Via his direct commands Xavier’s blood is forced through the pores of his body wherever it is needed where it takes on the glisten of liquid metal and can harden in an instant to replicate the strength of heavy armor with almost half the necessary amount of material." ~ Xavier Bloodbayne, Dread Metal - First Bullet.

"Xavier is known to possess three to four times as much blood as a normal human of the same size and stature. The main reason for this is that Xavier is free from the burden of major internal organs such as lungs, kidneys, liver or hear. All these things are broken down during the change and their cells are used to produce more Dread Energy. Xavier’s blood is a combination of Dread Energy and earthen Energy that allows Xavier full control over his blood. Meaning not all wounds will bleed and if they do it is often for an underlying reason." ~ Xavier Bloodbayne, Enhanced Body - Description and First Paragraph.

Dread Fluid will be large enough to be rendered as molecules to be frozen and stopped and subsequently also freezing Xavier in place. In this state Xavier will be unable to contest as Dread Energy will have to dissolve frozen dread matter. A mental command must be given, but none can be dispatched as the brain will be frozen first. TZDL has a restriction against immunity to death and a paralyzed character can result in a KO if they are unable to fight. Dread Flames was narrated not to use the heat to thaw Xavier but their degradation effect which takes an unspecified time, and the only matter they'll dissolve is foreign crystals from moisture in the air being frozen. For them to thaw Xavier will indicate they'll have to first dissolve the character itself as he is still frozen by the freeze and thus destroy his own body in the process. This is a possibility but at this point Xavier will be unable to battle, and thus it is ruled that Xavier is unable to continue this fight as being technically frozen by the flash freeze. The ice crystals will initiate their effect and it's questionable whether Xavier will be giving the command upon being instantly frozen and if so will take time for the ice crystals to be dilapidate. The time may not be incredibly long but Xavier will still remain frozen.

Dias Blade advances. Xavier had some interesting abilities with a custom power and had some workable ideas albeit mistimed in execution.

Flavor Text

Humanity's grief rested perpetually in the confines of conflict. Ambition sought petty prejudices as challenges to vast conceit each person felt entombed in. Letting much blood from torn skin or eviscerated vessels -- their primitive pursuit of answers led them in ritualistic sacrifices to appease forces they were not in control of. Deified entities mounted on pedestals of responsibility reclined comfortably on brass thrones of vacant rationale and wanton accommodations, but few were infinitely appeased as a God of war. Modern society now acknowledges combat as a force of nature, and the Olympian personification became synonymous with endless conflict. Our two combatants will pay him great homage by spilling the blood of their vanquish foe, for it not mattered whose blood ran -- provided that it's running.

Ares, Nubian, Oro, Kokou, Maher, Ogoun, Huitzilopochtli, Anann, Camulus, Chi You, Anhur, Bishomenton, and Winalagalis were all reputed to command divination over all essence of battle. None would be immortalized by the greatest altar of human history as Mars has claimed. Such as galaxies hurl scarlet flails of celestial bodies at each other -- planets and star systems alike consumed in a sea of radiating fire -- these deities competed for longevity in history's supremacy over the cosmos. These two warriors journeyed the perils of impeccable hardships will finally intersect here. Their parallel roads became perpendicular unto the full-circle that is Mars. This orange body orbited elliptically around the sun and carried about humanity's curiosity to inhabit its surface with lunar rovers and probes. It is believed that a civilization predating earth's more robust history existed on these planes. They believed pyramids on Mars, debris of skulls, anomalous figures, and even water banks littered its landscape; although a great many hovels discoveries have been identified, none were so significant as life itself. Mars contained life -- demonic life.

The Union Aerospace Corporation unearthed relics and multidimensional traveling technology when their facilities were savagely attacked. Mars' galactic company sustained heavy personnel loss from unremitting assaults by unknown entities native to the planet. Incidentally these phenomenons occurred simultaneous to UAC's technological discovery during their finalization. Creatures from an alternative reality wreaking havoc on the workers stationed there and suffering substantial casualties and millions in valuable goods pilfered or destroyed. A lone soldier remained from the attack and launched a counter-offensive of his own to push-back the alien forces threatening to touch base on Earth's surface using a stolen UAC transporter. His trail linked back to what appears to be an arena by design.

The architecture seemed very simplistic. In fact, it looked very simple -- dead simple. What once was pale algae festering on moisture from water to blood now supplanted by concrete and metal. Wide parameters of metal platforms stood roughly 8' and a half feet tall and no longer suffered negligence of discarded battle. Their purpose was to support weight of enormous proportion for aviated extraction. 14' 11" walls that were battered from old battles now revised. Metal sheets bolted into concrete supported heavy awning on flat industrial bars. The interior courtyard observed from the dark surrounding porch did little to hide the exterior's mystique. 14' 11" foot walls of concrete and metal harmoniously encapsulated these now vivid corridors. Upon a time these halls hymned emptiness now orate an ornate a mechanical orientation. A mill, machinery, splendor organized these paths in a pale vermilion aura caused by trenches of exposed lava. These pools of lava swirled with a strong radiation that recolored any that walked above into any variation of Vermilion corresponding with the saturation of their own original hues. These exposed and vacant chambers marinated beneath Mars now copper sky as this court serves a war driven peristyle arena.

The hellish spawn long removed but their lust for crimson life scarred these lands. In the epicenter of this revised courtyard lied a pink creature distilled on the facade of tan square. A parasitic being harped on an abandoned 5th and final elevated identical to the others but permanently suspended in a lift state. Though paralyzed, its hibernation expelled at a hint of violence and it has witnessed plenty thereafter and no other transmission of this sentiment is clear but its faint orange glow to any who behold it. The fighters who happened here are summoned by an erupt explosion sodden in emerald electricity. These warriors are interjected into this sudden stadium from a single explosion emitting foreign energies and these energies will subside as quickly as formed. They'll arrive in their corners look at the venue from the porch side and from this view will see their opponent, but fairly poorly as this porch interior was mildly dark. They only relied on what resources available to them that they came with, and their wit would be their only strength. Mars smiled happily on this lot with favor giving them stage in the ultimate arena of battle. His content lavished the height of the walls with an unstoppable gravitational force to prevent cowardly victims from fleeing for heaven's tainted embrace. These grounds were only suited for elites and this life force beckoned him when it seeped onto this hard surface. The best fighters had valor, skill, and fortitude to shed the hue of blood as Mars' bronze sky shined onto them and he spared no delight in savoring the fluid. All beneath the bronze heavens were slightly colored a tang of the color.. a very slight ambient overlay inside the courtyard and beyond.

When every confrontation expired then these walls would resonate a conscious. Computers located on the walls inside the atrium are programmed to pull the courtyard platforms down to exact floor level within a very short amount of time. The intention was simple, deadly simple even: No fight will hide from their foe given enough time as this peristyle battlefield is ripe with invincible cover -- confront your enemy. These grounds reverberated that whim of blood lust by locking every lever in place once they were lowered, which kept anyone from resurrecting those behemothesque podiums. Mars favored no coward and he enjoyed enemies staring into the eyes of their adversary with pain and fever alike. They will spill blood and he guaranteed they would not leave unharmed. His appetite for their nectar was superseded by a veracious instinct for murder and thus allowed only one artifact for these chosen warriors to abuse. A single medical supply entrapped in an unusual black box with a red cross and its contents were as ominous as its glowing appearance; for any person to so much as caress its form will adsorb all it contained and be invigorated. Their bodies restored to 100 percent health cured of all ailments and wounds no matter how petty. The recipient of such delight may do no more than bump it with any part of themselves to instantly receive its benefits; however, no impudent man shall be immortal and it will dissipate after its consumption for only in absolute defeat shall Mars become inebriated. The intoxicated aroma of control will award anyone brave enough to take advantage of such a generous prize. The caveat is that upon consumption the blessed is disarmed momentarily as unarmed combat is never a curse to Mars.

Now their destiny lay here. The ultimate warriors of their era would burst onto the corners of this peristyle structure in smokeless fire of jade plasma, far from each other, ready to fulfill a titan's hunger for war. Their anguish shall propagation here as spillings of folly and weakness alike. They will drench him their blood. ~ Mobius - TZDL2017 Finals

I'll just chime in with some useful pieces of advice first some fundamentals

  • Forum roleplaying is typically turn based
  • You and your opponent has a turn to make actions. Actions in roleplaying combat is extremely important.
  • In each turn you may attack, defend, or evade attacks your opponent proposes and your opponent is rewarded the same
  • A hit can only be confirmed when an attack cannot be blocked, evaded, or mitigated in any legitimate way (depending on the rules of the fight)
  • You cannot say an attack of yours hit your opponent. That constitutes as an autohit

It is hard for the final one to be determine between both players when throwing attacks at each other. The only method is usually crafting attacks to maximize the chance of such a hit to occur but even then your opponent can block/dodge still (even if it's incredibly unlikely at times). Essentially you want to optimize the ease of use between actions you make versus what is required of your opponent and hopefully get them "out of position" where they have an extreme chance of taking a hit or no other choice but to take one.

To get into any arena combat you must know the rules of the game. Each arena has their own share of rules and playstyle so usually lurking about a bit and seeing how things work usually helps. Most players suggest getting into combat at lower power levels aka Low Tier or Realistic Melee. Honestly if you don't have any actual real life experience in fighting you should avoid RM or Realistic Melee and go straight for low tier or even Middle. There's no established upper limit for each power level so don't expect any established metric that makes any sense. You're better off thinking like this

"can my attack blow up the planet?"
No
"blow up a continent?"
No
"A country?"
No
"A city?"
No
"A neighborhood?"
Maybe with enough collateral
"A building?"
How tall?

This is usually a good way of rounding out exactly how strong your attack output is for a single attack (let alone ability). There's a slew of ways to bypass this with simple powers (Phasing like turning to mist or teleporting). You can imagine and even couple together your own way of estimating where your character fits but really just have fun with it. The rest is acknowledging the don'ts.

Autohitting -
You can't say your attack hits. I fire a ball of energy at you. I cannot say it hits in no turn during or after. The best one can do is try by attacking while your back is turned, laying down, distracted, off guard, you name it.

Godmodding -
I cannot change the properties of my opponent's actions especially without just cause. You throw a fireball at me I cannot instantly go "it's fire became cure magic because I say so" or control it "I took your fireball and threw it to the floor. No sir". You cannot assume or command your opponent's character either. That's usually a NO-NO in a lot of places.

Once you have these two in your mind the rest is easy. Usually the ruleset in each setting is interchangeable but fall back on those two above either in name or function. They are the CORE rules of the game so players don't just disrespect each other. The third rule is

Don't Metagame -
Your character shouldn't know about my character and what they do without just cause. Meaning if our characters are meeting the first time then it's literally a mystery to both characters who and what they are. It's easy to metagame because you are reading everything as the player so roleplaying, in essence, is PRETENDING to be the character instead. Your character's senses is important for extrapolating information your character wouldn't otherwise be aware of if the right conditions are matched.

So now you know this. Here's some general tips that may or may not help you

- Hearing, Seeing, Smelling, Tasting, and Feeling isn't just essential in real life. These are the absolute most important abilities a character can have. If they can perceive it then they can do something about it. Real simple: Slow attacks can be read. A slow build up to an attack can be read (someone lifting up a shovel to hit you with it or raising their arm to shoot you). These are we what call "telegraphs" as many put it. Your character can see things and if they are fast enough and you are prepared enough you may be able to avoid one more turn from getting hit yourself. Use this to your advantage

- Telegraphs are IMPORTANT to read. Many actions in roleplay has some physical tell (unless they don't). You want justification to evade that sword or dodge that water balloon. Always have your character observe and never turn your back on your opponent. You will also come across actions that have little telegraphs or none. You can't avoid everything.

- Positioning is important. Positioning is determined by leverage you have in a situation vs your opponent. So if you have some barrier up that blocks things and your wand has energy to attack but your opponent ran at you with a dagger and NOTHING ELSE that can be seen by your character then you are in an advantageous position. You are in a position to attack with little foreseeable penalty vs your opponent who is "OUT OF POSITION" basically not where they ought to be. Do not be fooled by this lingo; however, you can be out of position at any time even standing still or moving. Play safe.

- Detail is important. @Doc Doctor put it best that you don't need to BLOAT actions with unnecessary detail, but detail becomes necessary when it can determine the outcome of a fight or at least change its flow. Too much detail can bog you down though and turn this game into a chore so.. do this at your discretion, but you'll appreciate a little thoroughness from your and your opponent. There's nothing wrong with being fastidious but keep in mind it may not be wholly necessary and fun.

- Don't be afraid to taking a hit either. Sometimes you are in a situation that's just.. not nice. You don't have to take a hit if you don't legitimately have to, but in a situation where your character is literally trapped then sell it. Sell the move. A punch to the chin may not KO you, but it'd rattle you (especially to the tip that shit doesn't feel good). Do not shrug off attacks or in the term of wrestling "no sell" because NO one likes that. An attack hurts will hurt. If it's justified you got hit then take it and sell it. Reward your opponent for getting passed your tricks and ideas for defense. Just keep in mind you don't have to take a hit for the sake of fairness "I took a hit so you take a hit" because that's not how fighting works. A hit only happens because you cannot reasonably mitigate it. This is the hard part really so.. you may have to communicate with your opponent often which segways into my final point

- READ. THEIR. POSTS. Do NOT deviate from whatever detail you read in your fight. Only stick to what's written in your match. Do not make up any detail that isn't there. Do not fall for any detail that isn't there. This goes for profile sheets, fights, and actions. Read the post in the thread. That's what's happening. Think of it like a star map.

From here on just have fun. Make a main character or several of them, but love your character(s). Always use every opportunity to improve yourself and your game even if it's just your writing. Always find a creative way to do something. Just chill and play and love what you do. Eventually it'd come to you as you play so don't rush in trying to soak all of our knowledge in one sitting to try and win a single match. Just throw yourself in with someone and have a nice clean match. Get to understand the game a bit. Don't even think about being competitive until you at least have a basic understanding of it first. You roleplayed outside of the arena so it's the same engine just.. against someone else.

Edit: Also TIME is the absolute factor of anything in roleplaying. It's the key component of every part of pvp so keep in mind time doesn't freeze for you or anyone else's character in game. So be very careful about Commitment. @Doc Doctor touched on this in a previous post so you'd be wise to read it.

Decoy is the winner and advances to the semi finals to fight Junction. Congratulations. Thank you Pollen for the amount of time and contribution you had towards this tournament and look extremely forward in seeing you reappear again. It was some heavy work in the judge channel for sure and you have forced us to re-examine some aspects of our own procedures so please swing around for another entry for more of the same.
