I don't even know how well this would work as a roleplay, or even if it will at all - but i want to try.
For those unfamiliar to the title, it's a bluffing game (similar to 'Town of Salem' if you've heard of it). Each player is given a random role at the beginning of the game with a power of some description and for the game to work must keep it secret so that no other player knows for sure what you are. In this game there are 2 (kind of 3, but i'll get into that) teams that are trying to beat the other; the 'werewolf' team and the 'village' team.
The werewolves win-conditiom is that none of them die, whereas the village's wincon is that they kill a werewolf.
During the night phase (where every characters actions happen), each Character will act in turn and through PM's and posting in a thread. After every character has had their turn, it becomes "day time" and through logic, deduction and bluffs you have to figure out what roles other people are playing and if they are being truthful with whatever role they say they are (they could be a werewolf pretending ). At the end of the day, everyone votes on who they want to execute and the who wins is revealed.
The roles (amount of roles in play will be number of players +3, and I'll choose which roles fit best for the group size):
Werewolves - Goal of the werewolves is to survive the night, and if possible shift the blame onto another, innocent, player. Werewolves know who each other are.
Minion - Works with the Wolves, knowing who they are but without them know who he is. His job is to shift the blame from the werewolves to someone else. However this role loses if they die as a result of the blame shift. No night time role.
Seer - the first villager role. The Seer can either see 2 cards that aren't in play (out of 3) or 1 person's specific card.
Masons - Masons are the villager equivalent of werewolves: they know who the other one is (as there is always 2 cards in play), uncommonly, werewolves pretend to be masons, and this throws discord to the villages as they struggle to decide who to believe.
Drunk - Swaps their card with a card from the middle, but do not know what their new card is. For all they know, they switched teams... or not. Who knows?
Insomniac - At the end of the night, the insomniac checks their role, and sees whether they are still the insomniac. This allows the insomniac to know what team they're on (unlike the drunk, who doesn't even know their role).
Tanner - This guy just seriously hates his job, his village and his whole life really, but can't bring himself to kill himself. The next alternative? Get a bunch of hyper-paranoid villagers to think you're a werewolf and get executed perfect.
Robber - Steals another player's roles, looks at it, than gives the other player their role.
Troublemaker - Swaps the role of two players.
I think the best way to have this work is maybe start the 'game' in PM, then move into the discussion into who's guilty into a roleplay thread. Wouldn't necessarily have to be much written, just something that gets your point across without giving away anything you may or may not be lying about.
Jason stood abruptly, almost knocking the chair he had just been sitting on to the floor. In his deep voice, he spoke clearly and calmly "I am the Seer", his curly beard wobbling with every syllable, "and I saw that Aaron was a Mason"
In the above example, who is to say that Jason really is the Seer? For all we know, he could be the Minion (who works to protect the werewolves) trying to cause confusion.
I realise this post is a total mess of badly explained garbage, but if you're interested in any form, or have any questions or queries about the game you want cleared up, then feel free to ask or PM me about them. Something like this is fairly short, and the RP would likely be other within a week all being well (and people responding promptly). I'm sure I can find some links on how to play the 'actual' game that explains it better than I can at half 1 in the morning lol.
PS: Happy New Year y'all!!!!
