Ever write a few chapters of something you're really excited about, then a few days later reread it and it's boring as hell? :D

There was a shooting at an art show where I had a painting hanging. I'm so shook.

All character applications, questions, ideas, hopes, desires, shouting, flailing, howling and singing should go here!
After a lot of discussion and hearing some good arguments, I'm considering abandoning the plague idea and asking that PCs be native to the island -- this means you could be an Artificer or a Kith. This way your backstories would matter a whole lot more, and there's a personal stake in what happens. Thoughts?
@vide no problem, take your time! We'll be here when you return! :)
Just a reminder that the 7 day point is mod post day! ;)
Update! Added a map and a list of locations. :)

For a moment silence descended on the night woods.

A low growl rumbled somewhere in the shadows, but was soon quieted.

Eyes of the dead blinked between the trees, bright and haunting, but closed and were gone.

"So you aren't deluded."

A shadow in the shape of a man paced slowly around the edge of the Lantern's reach. His voice was a smiling whisper.

"So you aren't weak."

He stopped, and he faced her, scrutinizing. "The Dragon lives because of me. I exist because of the Dragon. I held hope there may have been a different end," he hissed, "but you now well know the endlessness of her hunger. Her sons and daughters, your dear brother, none of them are beyond her jaws."

He stepped forward, into the light -- trusting that she would not use it against him, his eyes locked on hers -- while the lion behind him dripped with blood. As the red Lantern's light threw the darkness away he seemed only a man, though a roiling power followed him; he was draped in black, his sharp face had never touched a smile, his stare was gray and piercing.

Slowly he extended a hand. An invitation. "Rest, now," he assured her solemnly. "No more tricks -- you're safe with me. When you wake I'll show you power unimaginable." A cruel smile lifted the corner of his mouth. "We both shall have our revenge."

Sunlight shifted softly overhead. Stillness poised among the narrow white trees, while songbirds whistled in the distance. There wasn't even a breeze -- just the quiet, the silky grass, and the Mote that lay nestled in the soil as if it had been there for centuries, glowing gently.

The darkening fingers of weeds and grass took a bony shape, stretching and scratching at the ground. Soon there were more, wriggling out of the ground like dozens of spidery legs from the base of the Mote. The ground there twisted silently, bulged as if something sinewy writhed just beneath the crust of the forest floor.

Ever so slowly, the plantlife around the Mote was transforming, moving, scraping and flexing in a way it had never been known to do before.

Griff would feel a snuffling and poking at his shoulder; the little dog, once trapped in the spiral of the seaside Mote, now wagged and sniffed at him in hope of a morsel.

The Mote's reaching tendrils tickled and along Capella's arm, leaving a sappy green trail. Emboldened, the living weeds jointed and crawled buglike up her shoulder, grasped her ankle, reached around her stomach.

Should this be left to continue for hours or days, it seemed, the crawling grasses would silently hide all trace of Capella's existence.

In the distance, shadows shifted the sunlight. A group of ... something ... moved quietly, huffing low and rustling leaves in their wake. They were unclear so far away, but they were furred and dark and moved like deer.

The little dog seemed jovial enough -- but he wouldn't move any closer to the things in the woods, nor to the Mote and its scratching fingers.

Ok, update! Tomorrow is GM posting day whether or not anyone else posts -- get yer reactions in if ya haven't already! I'll start moving plot, and Tenma's gonna take lead with the subplot! :D
@Girlie1Bomba Why hello there! Would love to have ya! :D I think this particular RP would be more effective if everyone was human, yeah. I debated going the free-for-all route, but since it's sort of an alice-in-wonderland kinda deal, it loses a little something if weird-looking creatures aren't that surprising!

Also I'm thinking of taking this into a slightly more horror vibe. I don't write horror well. But it's time for a challenge!

Edit: I should probably say "spooky" rather than "horror" -- I definitely am very bad at horror.
@drewccapp It would be an honor! (I can't believe you're not done with this after 3+ years, hahaha)

@Skwint Zeroes to heroes is the best imho! Hi hullo and welcome!

@c3p-0h I'm thrilled for your support either way! :D (feel free to tell me I'm insane for this)

@Ink Blood@Nyxella Hi hi heya thank you and welcome cool people!

Wow, I guess this is happening then. Well ok! I'll get to work!
