Ever write a few chapters of something you're really excited about, then a few days later reread it and it's boring as hell? :D

There was a shooting at an art show where I had a painting hanging. I'm so shook.

It'll be a bit of a challenge, but I think we can boost some morale early on. Possibly. After watching everyone you love die and then nearly dying yourself, reactions could be across the board.

We can keep the applications open -- have people wash up occasionally, either from different ships or even the same one, if we say time runs differently on the island. I will admit that Brigadoon is a bit of an influence here, haha.

edit: @Girlie1Bomba Uuuhhhh how long are you thinking? They could be trekking overseas, so it could be weeks? Months?
@Girlie1Bomba Izzy is wonderful! So colorful to begin with, but her story became so tragic. ;-; Totally approved, please copy her to the characters tab! :D
:3 You guys gonna go another round before I continue or ya waitin on me?
Whoa. Hi! :D

If I can remember wtf was even going on in this RP .... sure, we can breathe life into it once more! xD
@Virgil Hey thanks! :D Those changes help. I'm curious to see how he plays out!
@NorthernGR Absolutely 100% was hoping someone would do this. xD Do eeeet!
@Virgil Ifor is really interesting and a tad unsettling -- I'm kind of getting a vibe like "The Stranger" by Albert Camus? -- totally approved. Please do copy him to the characters tab!

Though he is approved -- and this CS is beautifully written with great imagery -- I am left with more questions than answers. I'm using the character applications to mold plots and NPC interactions to what would drive and motivate the characters, therefore clarity and concrete facts are more important than imagery here. These are things I would be able to call back to during the RP.

Ifor, after reading this, seems to be an unmoving fixture with little drive or emotion. While this is fine, this is sort of scary from a GM perspective, haha.

At the very least, if you could clarify the following questions it would help me out greatly:

  • What does he want most? What does he actually need? -- Even if it's a drink of water (or a friend, or to keep his freedom at all costs), something concrete that he actively wants would help me greatly. If he is shown an opportunity to get this thing, he will go after it. Why does he need to dream? What help would that be to him?
  • How would you like to see this character change and develop? -- This question technically wasn't answered, haha. What sort of person could he become? What do you hope he will learn, and how do you hope he will grow as his story develops?
  • Pitch a small subplot -- "the answers to all his questions" -- Which questions are those, specifically?

@Cairo, playing Thomas

The fresh-faced, slight young man in a well-maintained soldier’s uniform, usually glancing about nervously or rigidly standing at attention. On first impression, Thomas looks like a boy that’s about to jump out of his own skin. He’s nervous, awkward, constantly second-guessing himself and mumbling apologies to those around him. Everything he does is the result of careful, almost paranoid consideration, though the same can’t be said for everything he says. He sees himself more or less the same way, though you could add in a sense of inadequacy about his role as a soldier, stemming from the fact that he has never seen combat as well as his rather nervous demeanor.

Elliot is best recognized by the birthmark that covers the right half of his face. After that his piercing blue eyes. He has a fairly normal build for his age and as a result if he had no birthmark would blend in with a crowd rather than stand out. Elliot is a bit off-putting. Not because he is rude, but because of his birthmark and how little he speaks. He often watches strangers carefully picking apart their actions and speech which alone can be disturbing. Although he is a bit odd to start, he is not unpleasant and even quite polite.

@Virgil, playing Ifor

Shorter-than-average legs, longer-than-average arms, a heavily-set brow and wispy goatee the length of a cooking-ladle cast this particular 'man' as a rather strong break from the traditional mold. Ifor is a quiet fellow, rarely speaking - or making much noise at all for that matter. What activity he does make is done during life's softer moments: fiddling with an idle trinket here, observing a faint smudge there - dabbling where others would only see brief trivialities. His stare would seem to encompass the experiences of a lifetime within a single second...or alternatively, might merely be seen as rude, or even unnerving.

That fiery red hair, those smoldering steely-blue eyes, that teasing smile, the adorning 'baby unicorn horn,' that cleavage, that eye patch that may be worn sometimes and not always covering the same eye as when she last wore that eye patch. Reserved and watchful. A downward chin, eyes distant, yet always seeming to exude great poise and posture. A lonesome beauty lost in a brooding aura. But they will see flashes of her true self: Forward, flirty and flowing. Izzy inititates contact once she meets someone, whether a handshake, eye contact or by simply comments; she does not always acknowledge another's personal boundaries.

Clad in magnificent robes of violet, resplendent gold inlays and tasteful splashes of muck and blood courtesy of the crash, Varric stands just shy of six foot (though he swears he is all of 6'2). Floor length and tattered, Varric pairs the garment brilliantly with a petulant scowl. Wrinkled and streaked with grey, the nobleman's vanity belies the age inscribed on his face. Short, neat hair and a well groomed goatee befit a man of stature and subterfuge and as such are a staple of Varric's image. Given notice, the nobleman carries himself with dignity befitting one of his station, leaning to his honored guest's sensibilities to garner favor and admiration.

@c3p-0h, playing Temp

Look for the short young woman in a tie, with a messy flop of hair, freckles covering her cheeks, and a mouth full of curses. She'll be easy to find – brawls tend to be hard to miss.Temp lives up to her name – loud mouthed, short fused, and always ready to crack a bat over some kneecaps. It's easy enough to write her off as a violent lost cause, a grown-up delinquent that you'd do well to stay far away from. Most do. Temp likes to think of herself as a pretty straight forward person. If you're cool to her, she's cool to you. You piss her off, she beats you up. It's not a perfect system, she knows – it's probably caused more problems than it's solved.

@baraquiel, playing Golde

In order to see Angel in a crowd, you will need a really sharp eyesight. Because of her shy and soft-spoken personality, she often wears a cloak every time she goes outside to buy food from the market or harvest herbs and berries in the woods that she would put in her large basket. Really, standing out from a crowd will be the last thing Angel wants to do as she doesn't really want any unnecessary attention. The only striking traits you'll see that will make you sure it was her was the flash of lush, golden hair underneath her cloak along with her fair skin.

The young woman was very flamboyant in most of her aspects. She was usually seen playing her instrument, the mandola, or moving to the beat of a tune within her own head. She could be described as a loud personality; keen to offer her opinion whether it's wanted or not and always ready to shoot a comment on any given situation. She couldn't have stood taller than 5'5" and weighed roughly 110 pounds, with an athletic build. A golden ring runs through the septum of her nose, resting above lips that had a hint of pout. Occasionally displayed from between her lips was a pierced tongue, a barbell with golden metal orbs on either side running through the pink mass.

@drewccapp Elliot just gets more intriguing as the CS goes on! Totally approved, go ahead and post him to the characters tab! :D
@Virgil I'm gonna be honest, this is essentially how my very first in-person RP session went, and it's hilarious. xDDD
