Kanna is a shy, well-rounded girl. She spends most of her time studying or playing little games in her room and keeping out of her older brother’s business. Recently, Kanna’s parents have filed for divorce. The reasons are unclear to Kanna, but she no longer sees her father as much. Occasionally, she will receive text messages from him — pictures of his work as a neuropsychologist for NASDA. Other than that, he seems too preoccupied and out of touch to make any real connection with her. Her mother has picked up a small secretarial job and is more stressed out and tired than Kanna can ever remember her mother being in her entire life. Determined to not let this affect her, Kanna has started seeing her friends less and keeping to her own imaginary world and schoolwork.
