Zim didn't have time to react to the newcomers. The pain in his arm didn't do anything to help his focus. His shoulders burned and now his left arm had a sharp pain. His legs were starting to cramp up too, but that was just from the stress of combat, not because of the neural link to Black Star, but it all worked against him anyways. Crouching behind a building for cover Zim assessed his approach options. The cruxi shield he improvised did work, but not as effectively as he would have liked. Zim flexed his left hand open and closed and watched as the mechanisms struggled to do even that basic task. The wave surger was finally cooled off enough that it had become usable again, but he would need to wait for it to charge before he could use its beam, he could close the distance and fire it and hope it latched onto the sniper without having to get too close, but any decent sniper would be on the move as soon as he got that close, with the damage to his arm, targeting would be even harder than normal.
It was his best option, he had to close the gap anyways, he would try to launch wave surger along the way. Now it was just a question of getting close enough without dying first. The sniper's rate of fire was fairly slow, so if Zim could get the sniper to waste the shot he could rush close enough to fire the wave surger, but it might not work either, and cost him his shield. Zim cursed that initial moment in combat where he lost his wing shields and his stealth equipment. If Zim still had these he probably could easily have closed the distance.
"Oh well, that is in the past," Zim said with a sigh. He took another moment to pause and collect his breath, he slowed his breathing to ease his pulse. Zim needed to be able to push past the pain, to be able to focus. "Alright partner," Zim said to Black Star, "Here is the plan. That sniper knows we are behind this building, he is probably just lined up and holding his breath waiting for us to pop out and into his shooting lane. He also knows we are using that beast as a shield. It worked once, it probably won't hold up a second time, so now it is going to be a distraction. Ready?" He paused as if waiting for a response, did those status lights just blink green for a moment? "Alright partner, let's go!"
Zim pushed the beast as far to the edge as he could, he made sure part of it stuck out into the roadway so that the sniper would spot it and focus on that side of the building. He waited one second, two seconds, and then Zim punched the controls, pushing the Cruxi carcase out into the open. Zim didn't wait to hear the shot, he sent Blackstar the other direction around the building. If it worked then Zim would use basic evasion manoeuvres to close the gap as much as possible, as quickly as possible before stopping to take cover again. If it didn't work and Zim never hear or saw the shot get taken, then he would have to be more cautious in his approach and try to take cover more often.
Movement: B2 > B6, no attack.
