What is the point? We brought in a Cruxi elite with psychic abilities. It has been broadcasting it's position the entire time, if nothing else. Using the same trick that we did to find their base, to find ours. So I suspect that we will be "caught unprepared" and have to fight our way to the hangers and get into the Werks to rebuke the onslaught. I don't think that Lorenzo would send us out into combat without our werks, the only reason a pilot should have to fight hand to hand is because the fight came to us, or our werks are destroyed or otherwise incapacitated. Just my thoughts and opinions.
You know what else I feel like? I feel like it is about time for a hand to hand combat mission, without our werks. I feel like that might be a thing soon.
@DarkRecon Oh, hey, El is a total noob, she would have never seen combat prior to training stuff, so the run-in with her in the past that you referred to in your post is probably going to have more to do with her as a princess and less to do with her as a pilot or squadmate, so keep that in mind as we progress further.
@ArkmageddonCat I have never played any of those games, and haven't even heard of some of them. lol. I am a gamer wannabe. I don't have the time or money to afford games or systems to play on them. Blizzard and Nintendo pretty much gets all of my game moneys these days. And while Blizzard is now hosting Destiny 2 on PC for Activision, I still don't have the moneys at the moment to play. Sad Panda is Poor, hence all of my rage...
@Ariamis I know right? I mean I am still really excited for the show, but if my Mecha Design choices aren't any indication I am fairly partial to mechs that line up more with the Gundam body types, but I also like Macross, Gurren Laggan, Envegalion, and other similar things, so I do vary in my tastes, so I am really hoping that the show is good enough to carry the less than preferred mechanical design. I mean Gurren Laggan is pretty crazy with their mechanical design and I loved it because the story and action were so crazy. I am also going to start watching Star Driver here soon. I have attempted to watch it a few times and always get distracted from finishing it, so hopefully, I can actually watch it all before I get distracted with the January releases and, well, you know... real life.
@DarkRecon Well her family isn't the designer, but I suppose they could all be designed by the same dude, but I'm not sure that Ojo or El are going to have anything to do with the T system. But, we could use El as the catalyst to start the conversation between Maria and Zim about the similarities between Black Star and Neo Angel.
@ArkmageddonCat Darn those vid'ya games! What'chu playing lately?
As a general statement, In retrospect of that previous mission, I do feel like things went a little too smoothly. Am I the only one that feels that way? I mean, I know the infiltration team had a hard time of it, but unlike Troas/Joppa it really never felt like "oh crap, we might lose this one!" So, I feel like between that and the obvious foreshadowing that this battle isn't entirely behind us. So that is why I am glad that I am introducing this defense based support werk, because I really feel like we are going to need it!
Also, has everyone seen the new show coming out soon DARLING in the FRANKXX (with or without the k, there seems to be some confusion there)? It is a new Mecha anime coming out soon (next month I think?) With a lot of the creative staff behind gurran laggan, kill la kill, some of the gundam series, and a bunch of other really good shows and crazy action scenes. I am really excited about it. What I am not terribly excited about is the mech designs. Anyone who has looked into it, what are your thoughts?
As the group of pilots escorted their payload down to the surface, an observant pilot may notice that there was a non-military transport ship nearby as well. Its design was regal and smooth, thick with aesthetic and with little in the way of utilitarian purpose.
Once the very brief briefing with Lorenzo was started, someone who wasn't paying attention to what was being said might notice a Framewerk with a huge ring disembark from the transport, strike a graceful pose and proceed to descend to the surface, landing nearby Squad Sigma's collection of Werks. Everybody would be able to notice that the landing was not nearly as graceful as the pose, but all the same, there was no damage done. A small group of ground crew would gather nearby it and start ordering drones to get to work to get it into the hanger along with the rest of the werks. An officer stood nearby on the ground waiting for the pilot to come out. Once on the ground the Officer would great the pilot in the strange plug suit a salute, which was odd as the pilot couldn't have outranked the officer but how else was the officer to show royalty respect? Words were exchanged and the officer quickly escorted the pilot towards Squad Sigma.
The officer once again saluted the group, "Excuse me, this is Cadet Fullbright, she has just arrived but has been assigned to your unit. I will leave her in your care." He saluted again before taking off to assist in other tasks.
"Hello," the new pilot said as she reached to remove her helmet, a mass of red hair tumbling out around her shoulders, she shook it briefly before continuing, "As you were just told I am your new Cadet, Elizabeth Fullbright, "El" if you can't be bothered to say my whole name. And before you ask, yes, I am the crown princess of Praxis V, you have seen me before in the holovids, and no you may not have my autograph. Who is in charge here? Apparently, I still need to report for duty, officially." She stood there expectant, with her chin held high, her pretty nose sticking slightly up into the air.
Name: Elizabeth Fullbright, AKA Princess or El for short (if you can't be bothered to say her whole name)
Gender: Female Age: 20 Experience: 85% Synchronization Rate: 60% Personality: Elizabeth is confident, though untested. Often views herself as better than those around her, but committed to the cause and follows orders with little concern for much more than the safety of her home planet, and those of the people that she is partnered with. Background: Elizabeth Fullbright is a princess, and will make sure you know it. Her planet is located well within human territories and so far is safe from any immediate threat of Cruxi attack, however, she and the rest of her Royal family believe that the best way to protect the planet is to get involved in the problem early. Three of the five siblings have served or are currently serving. Her oldest brother did not join the cause, as to be able to stay safe and claim the throne when it is time, and the youngest sister who has not yet had a chance to serve. The oldest sibling to serve was her sister Anna, who died in combat shortly after taking the field in her first mission. Then there is Elizabeth, and lastly is the younger brother Vincent who is currently in officers academy and has strong prospects of commanding a strike vessel. Elizabeth has such a 'Princess' attitude about everything that the man who designed her werk, Hajima Tetsudo, named it after her in his families native tongue, "Ojo" meaning princess. Notable Deaths: Her older Sister Anna, KIA. Other things: Maria comes from a wealthy, technologically advanced planet, whose royal family has made considerable donations to the war effort in financial aid, technology development, and raw materials. Her home planet is called Praxis V, and is often used as an example of what being a good universal citizen should aspire to do. Elizabeth is even used as a poster child and appears in several propaganda films asking for others to follow her Father's lead. As such, most everybody who isn't from a deep space rock will recognize her. She resents any implication that she is only where she is because of pandering to her family and will routinely volunteer to support some of the riskiest missions because of it.
Framewerk Code Name: Ojo
Number of Framewerk Systems: 1 Primary, 2 Secondary Signature Weapon System:
The Shitsugyo-sha, as it was designated by the creator, also known as Stargazer or GDA, is an experimental propulsion and defense system, using extremely powerful magnets harvested from superdense star systems. The GDA was originally designed for deep space exploration where fuel sources maybe non-existent. By aligning the magnets with bodies with greater mass (stars primarily) in the direction that Ojo is set to travel in, the GDA is then able to push and pull the werk in that direction simultaneously. Similarly, the GDA is capable of pushing projectiles off of their course and away from Ojo or other targets, keeping them Safe - Given enough time the pilot can redirect attacks to specified directions to avoid redirecting the attack into an ally or even forcing the projectile to strike an enemy target. With its intended purpose for deep space travel, the longer Ojo travels in one direction, the faster the werk will travel, but this will almost never come into play in a real combat situation. The GDA has an effective range of 4.
Secondary Weapon System 1:
Ojo can launch a collection of drones, a primary control unit and three smaller drones, that will attach to a werk that releases a set of orbital deflectors. These deflectors will orbit around the werk their controller is attached to and intercepts incoming attacks. Due to the nature of these deflectors, they are fairly ineffective against melee attacks and explosives, however, most physical and energy attacks will either be destroyed or deflected away from the target. While the deflectprs are active they give off a green light in order to make it more obvious that they are active. Once the last of the three orbiters is destroyed the controller unit will detach. If the attached unit does not have a friendly RF code broadcasting, the orbiters will not activate. These have a deployable range of four, with three units available for deployment. With the use of the Hoshizora, they can be deployed up to six spaces away.
Secondary Weapon System 2:
Hoshizora is a mid-long range EMP Rifle that can deliver an EMP device that incapacitates whatever machinery it hits. It can be used to launch Orbital Deflectors as well. Has an effective range of six.
@Ariamis what about ranges for the other abilities? How far away can I attach the orbital defenders, how far away can the GDA effect projectiles? For simplicity, I could launch the drone for the orbital defenders from the Hoshizora, too. Any limit on the number of defenders Ojo will carry onboard?
Those details can be worked out, so when the next time I get a chance to sit down and write a post I will go ahead and write El's arrival as well, so she can get introduced at the same general time as Alyssa.
