In that same regard, wouldn't those military installations where tanks be stored hit first and most of their circuity burned out?

(Also what do you mean? In Afgan, you have trained individuals operating those things - not any random Joe. Also most Soviet tanks were shot to pieces by the Mujadeen back in their days). True - how many do you think survived the collapse of civilization? Not ignorant precisely, just ignorant of certain high-level technological things.

We're talking about them sitting four hundred years in the elements. Let a sword sit in the elements for that long, see if it still able to be used?

Even at our current level IRL - I wouldn't know the first thing on how to operate, check for damage or even get parts to repair a tank.

Now take that with people, whom haven't likely seen one for centuries. Whom likely lack the knowledge of where and how to check a tank. Not to mention the industrial capacity to even manufacture those parts.

Or what a tank is or is supposed to do?

Well. You won't be wielding submarines or nuclear power plants. If the people whom know about those fields of science and engineering died in the nuclear fire.

So far, I have been the only one - whom has stated and explained how my society managed to retain Old World Knowledge. Not only in using 21st Century tech, but also improving on it. And slowly developing more themselves.
