  • non fluent polyglot
  • paramedic
  • B horror film lover
  • Dogs are life.

the role player

  • I like most genres.
  • But I really love superheroes, apparently.
  • I'm big on character driven stories and all the twists and turns that come from that.
  • I tend towards darker, grittier stories, or lighter stories with liberal amounts of dark humour. There is little you can do to throw me off.
  • I enjoy writing explicit scenes, but they are not an essential ingredient. I'm here for the story first and foremost.
  • I will try my best to give you what I get in terms of post length.
  • I reuse my characters, settings, and plot points with different people sometimes. You are welcome to do the same.
  • In the words of a GM I admire, your spot at the table's secure. Whenever you're up to participating, grab your seat and jump in. (If I love the story we've been writing I don't care how long ago it was since you last posted- if you're ready to get back into it I'll be waiting!)
  • Check out my 1x1 interest check if you want to see what I'm specifically looking to role play right now. That being said, pitch away if you think I might like it.

Bump.
I'm "double jointed".
As much as I enjoy writing and creating, I have trouble when it comes to forcing myself to sit there and write; with a partner or group, it's an activity and no longer just a chore. I find it makes stories more diverse and dynamic than if I were to write on my own.

I also like that role playing gives me another outlet to play someone not myself. It can be a fun challenge: on another site, I'm playing a character who is an herbalist and uses folk medicine in a pre-modern medicine era, whereas I am a paramedic today. I have to blend my understanding with what my character knows and figure out how to portray that.

The most exciting part about role playing for me is probably the character interaction. I come from a theatre background, so I would be content doing lines of dialogue back and forth all day- for me, it's all about the people and how they react to each other.

It was amazing just how easy it was to be unrecognizable. Leah simply had to chop her hair off and start slouching. She didn't even get the whole hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like...? Maybe she wasn't so unrecognizable: maybe it was just that no one wanted to say anything. Which was nice- she really, really didn't want the attention. She had never wanted it in the first place, and with her brother's death...

In all honesty, she never really went out, anyways. So it was probably more that there was never an opportunity for someone to realise who she was and bring it up. And, you know, she wasn't exactly proud of her last public moment, because punching one of your teammates was generally frowned upon, even if it had turned out all right in the end. So the idea that people might have perhaps not wanted to comment in case she decided to punch them was a defensible one.

She had far too much time on her hands and not enough that she wanted to do with it, which led to too much thinking.

Okay, so she did go out often enough. This, however, was not the kind of bar you went to because you wanted to find new friends. People made small talk, but not much more unless they knew each other. Even the staff made no comment about how much you were or were not drinking that night. (Sometimes she just wanted to sit and watch everything.)

...thunder storms expected to surface in the late evening hours. That's all we have for the week ahead, back to you, Janine.

Thank you, Mark. Coming up, next Thursday marks the one year anniversary of the death of one of the world's most celebrated heroes. Information on...

Leah tuned it out.

Another drink was on her table before she knew it. "On the house."

Well, looks like someone recognized her after all.
Bump- still looking!

  • I try my best to match what my partner is bringing to the table in terms of post sizes.
  • My posting rate could potentially be anywhere from once a week to more than once a day. Please let me know what posting rate you tend to enjoy and I'll let you know if I can go along with it at current time.
  • I totally understand getting anxious about posting or feeling flaky. As long as you're not a jerk I won't hold it against you.
  • My background is in theatre acting, so I really love character driven stories and the twists and turns that tend to go along with them.
  • I typically play female characters. I am not picky about what you choose to play.
  • I usually tend towards darker stories, but it depends on the characters and situations.
  • I do like mature and adult content; however I am also fine if this never comes up in story, or if you would prefer fade to black.
  • As a related side note- I'm a paramedic, so there isn't much in the way of grit or gore that will throw me off.
  • I am quite flexible in general, so if you have something that's vaguely similar to something I have in here, or you think based on what I have listed here I might like it, let me know!
  • PM me if you’re interested. No use cluttering up the forum.
  • That being said- I am down to role play in the forums or through PMs, whatever your preference. Just let me know!
