Haha, they do, I always loved their relationship cause Gambit was always presented as something of a womaniser, but then is in love with and content with a woman he can't touch, it's so cute.

Edit: Though I feel we shouldn't miss the opportunity for them to have a fight at some point, I imagine it could be quite entertaining
If she is accepted (fingers crossed) then I intend for her to become a hero, I just found it odd that after functionally killing someone like Ms. Marvel no one seemed to take any notice of her. So I wanted to explore that aspect of her first, she does want to make up for what she's done though, so maybe Spiderman could help her do that in some way?

P.S. It does seem to be conducive to creating super heroes, you'd think more of them would lash out instead of defending the world, I guess we're lucky they don't
Player Name: Nosuchthing
Character You Wish To Play: Anna Marie (Rogue)
Moral Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line): Walking the Line
Affiliation (what group/team/organization, if any, is your character affiliated with?): None currently

Character Origin & Backstory: Anna Marie has not had a happy life, though she grew up relatively happily as a normal child, raised by loving parents, her genetic potential would intervene to ensure that this average existence would not continue. She was only thirteen, in the full throes of puberty and finally beginning to discover who she was as a person when everything she ever knew changed for ever. At the time mutants were not known of, but her father's predisposition towards intolerance could perhaps be a warning as to what was to follow.

Like many children that age, Anna Marie had begun to notice the opposite sex, in this case a boy around her age called Cody. Cody became her first boyfriend, and her first regret. Her powers manifested during, or a short time before their first kiss, putting the boy in a coma for three days. Her father was not, perhaps, the man he should have been, and if he had then things would not be as they are. Terrified of the demon his child appeared to be, he disowned her, throwing her out and telling her to never darken his door again.

Abandoned and alone, Anna Marie wandered around the states, rapidly running low on cash and any way to survive, when she was discovered by an old woman in a bus station, a woman who, it turned out, was a powerful mutant in her own right. The still young and impressionable Anna Marie was taken in by Mystique and raised as a powerful mutant, she took to calling her saviour ‘Mama’ and was trained in her abilities, practising on her team mates. When Mystique deemed her old enough, she started taking her on some of the groups missions, often stealing documents or valuable equipment. Anna Marie’s abilities proved undeniably useful, until the day that Mystique set a trap for her then-nemesis, Carol Danvers, better known as Ms. Marvel, a 17 year old girl with amazing superhuman abilities.

Ms. Marvel attempted to intervene in their illicit activities, terrified and forced to defend herself Anna Marie drained her powers, but she held on for a long time, longer than she had ever done before. Ms. Marvel was rendered powerless and reduced to a coma, one that showed no sign of lifting. Anna Marie remained with the team for a short time after that, but traumatised and wracked with guilt, left her home once again. She was 18, no longer a child, but still too young for the responsibilities her powers have forced upon her.

Seeking something close to a normal life, Anna Marie, now a wanted criminal, stays in one place as long as she can until someone recognises her, waiting until hopefully enough time passes and people will forget her face, and finally leave her in peace.

Powers and Abilities (What can your character do? What can't they do?): Anna Marie has the potential to be an extremely potent mutant, but several self-inflicted mental blocks lie in the way of her unlocking her true potential and truly controlling her abilities. She possesses what has been described as a fluid genome, one that can change and adapt to the changing situation, or more specifically, to the powers of whatever mutant she happens to be touching at the time. This has a number of effects, contact with what appears to be any living being, human or not, begins the process, she begins to drain what seems to be life force from her target, this is a painful and difficult experience for those she touches, and is far from pleasant for her as well. Those affected by her touch can struggle, but the weakening effect that comes with it makes it difficult to willingly break the bond. This ability does not simply draw energy, should the target be possessed of special abilities, then Anna Marie will replicate them herself, this includes both natural and artificial mutants, but not abilities that are magical in nature. This is not a permanent effect unless the contact is excessively prolonged, but a contact of a few seconds is enough to induce weakness in her target and grant her their abilities for a few minutes. With the powers also come memories, and even in some cases, entire personalities, though Anna Marie is not yet aware of the extent of this ability.

In addition to this ability Anna Marie possesses a whole host of abilities she has received from her prolonged contact with Ms. Marvel.

Superhuman Strength – Superhumanly strong, she can lift huge weights and throw punches through walls. Though it has never been properly measured, Anna Marie is capable of throwing cars with relative ease, and is likely capable of lifting approximately fifty tons.

Superhuman Stamina – Anna Marie can physically exert herself for many hours until her muscles produce enough fatigue toxins to truly slow her down.

Superhuman Speed – A side effect of enhanced strength, Anna Marie can push herself faster than any normal human could.

Superhuman Durability – Anna Marie is considerably more resistant to physical damage than any normal human, thanks to the enhanced tissue density granted by Ms. Marvels abilities. To the extent that she could take a hit from a bullet without breaking stride, though armour piercing rounds might give her pause.

Flight – Anna Marie is capable of defying the forces of gravity and taking flight.

Sample Story Arcs: Opening Arc – Anna Marie is minding her own business and trying to hold a job down, unfortunately, this proves more problematic than she had hoped, either someone recognises her face from old news reports, or she accidentally uses her abilities, outing her, and is forced to flee.

Is it getting crowded in here? – Carol Danvers wakes up, inside Anna Marie’s head, I always loved this story arc in the old X-men cartoon series but I’d like to explore it a little more, perhaps with more of a dialogue going on instead of Carol Danvers simply trying to drive her insane. Perhaps as a close to the arc Carol’s old feelings for Spiderman surface and confused by having to deal with two people’s feelings in her head Anna Marie makes her way to New York to track down Spiderman

Redemption – Anna Marie has done a lot of bad things, but at the core she is not a bad person, perhaps just a misguided one, it would be nice if perhaps through Spiderman she encounters the Xmen, finally finding a mentor and someone to help her with her rapidly spiralling personality issues.

Sample Post (This is used as an introduction to your writing – try to keep it to around three paragraphs or more and try to include dialogue):

“Anna we got your order here.”

“Sure thing hun, ah’m comin’.”

The waitress’ honeyed tones were becoming familiar in the diner now. She had only been there for perhaps three months, but she was already becoming a favoured server among the small establishments regular patrons. Her attractive appearance helped, but her kind and sweet personality helped to win over those not enamoured by her physical appearance.

She made her way behind the counter, grabbing the piled trays and whirling on in a movement that demonstrated obvious practice. She took it back in front of the counter and swayed over to the first table, handling the two trays with an ease that belied her size. She slapped them down in front of the Renton family. The father was a big guy, but running slightly to fat now, while his wife was diminutive by comparison. The son was about her age, just back from College it seemed, and had been eyeing her up. He was cute, she couldn’t deny that, and seemed nice enough, but even if he did pluck up the courage to ask her out, nothing could ever come of it. She sighed internally.

“Here ya go guys, tuck in, ya gotta have a big appetite to eat all o’ that hun.”

The father laughed and reached across to clap his son on the shoulder, “oh don’t worry he’s got a big appetite, he’s the star quarterback of his college team.”

“Well ain’t that impressive, he must have all the ladies after him at college.”

The father had evidently noticed his son’s interest, but Anna wasn’t going to rise to the bait, never could, for fear she might do worse than she already had. Cody, not to mention all those since, notably Ms. Marvel. It was true that her abilities had been very helpful since then, but the woman was still in a coma. Anna Marie could barely sleep these days without seeing the look of terror on the woman’s face as her life drained away. Not to mention the strange thoughts that seemed to be appearing in her head without her putting them there.

Maybe you’re going mad…
Sorry, I'm going to have to say I can't play in this, the inconsistencies are just way too maddening for me to deal with, and if it's started like this then it is likely to continue. I wish you luck but I can't play in this RP

Impressive- though there are several things:A) Demons only overran the Mainland- think of the supercontinent before we got the current continents of today. There are a great many islands and Archipelagos, but the Demons only took to the Mainland- saltwater is a fearful substance.B) Mages' College would, perhaps, have at least one surviving extension into the Mainland- well protected, very strong, and probably hidden in the Halls of the Dwarves. C) A "Hero" is one of the four that is leading- I changed this on page 2 or something. A "Hero" are like Avalon- they're well-off, they can fund their team, they're probably an elf, and they're very skilled. Change that bit, and you're accepted! Avalon might take her under his wing, so to speak, to teach her more extensive magics. He may not specialize in wind magic, but he'll know much more about it than she.

A) Sorry, that's really not how it comes across in the OP, what with the world being overrun and all

B) That's fine, surely she can be from the other continent/island/whatever then?

C) Would have been handy if that was in the OP, I've mostly just made this through my phone, which can be a pain to scroll through everything with.

And Wind magic? Who mentioned wind magic?

Plus surely the Ring is way too powerful for her to not be a hero?

Anyway, I have to go out for a bit so I'll change it when I get back
Soooo, any thoughts on my app?
Name: Fynna
Race: Human
Age: 21
Gender: Female

Abilities: For a human, Fynna has an unusual affinity for the winds of magic, though she possess little beyond some very basic and simple spells, her potential, or so she is told by the Ring, is much greater. Though her natural links to magic are strong, she is not trained as a mage, and lacks the discipline expected from those schooled in the magical arts.

Of course, her previous position as a servant makes her adept at a number of practical tasks, such as cooking and caring for horses or equipment.

Powers: Fynna was a servant, she has picked up the occasional spell, but while she has the potential to be a great mage, she has not yet achieved it.

Appearance:

Weapons and/or Tools: A short sword, evidently not part of her normal attire, it is an old and battered weapon, clearly all that could be afforded, and sheathed in an old worn scabbard hung from an equally worn sword belt at her hip.
She keeps a small pouch of coin within her robes, there is not a lot there, but it is enough to get buy, and perhaps buy supplies on the road.
A worn leather satchel containing a few supplies, bread, cheese, dried meat, and two books, one a tome of magic taken from the college, another a notebook containing her own observations and thoughts.

Her most reviled item is one she has no wish to bear, the college of mages possesses a great many artefacts of power, but one of the greatest is the Ring of Isilvar, a simple band of burnished silver, it’s true purpose was long since lost to history, until, for a dare, Fynna broke into the vault and put it on, only to discover that the ring very much remembers its purpose, and it is not to sit waiting in a vault. Still containing some semblance of the personality of its maker, a High Elf mage of old, the ring grants the wearer magical powers near equal to those he once wielded. This comes with a cost however, some remnants of Isilvar’s consciousness still remain within the ring, and on the few occasions Fynna has actually had to call upon its power, it has been uncomfortably like the ring was wielding her, and not the other way around. Unable to remove it from her finger, Fynna is stuck with Isilvar in her head until he sees fit to release her from her bond.

Armor or clothing: Her clothing is relatively fine in appearance but constructed of thick heavy cloth, to those who are knowledgeable in the matters it is clearly that of a member of the Mage’s college. Other than the Ring of Isilvar upon the forefinger of her right hand, Fynna also bears a band of gold with a heavy sapphire set into it, a gem for storing power, though it is only a small store, it can come in handy. She tends to wear gloves, occasionally she will remove that on her left hand, but she tries to keep the ring on her right hand concealed, for fear someone may guess at it's true nature.

Mount: A bay mare, Shine, with a white blaze on her forehead, clearly a young and healthy horse, but not battle trained.

Personality: Fynna is the reluctant hero, though she always dreamed of adventure and excitement, the reality is proving to be far less glamorous than the old stories. She was raised a servant, and though she tries to play the part of a Mage of the college, she often has to catch herself when she seems to slipping back into her old ways.

Biography: (I’m happy to reveal this here but I would rather that Fynna can explain it in her own time in the RP, not people magically knowing XD)

The great Mage Colleges were once jewels of the world, but were among the first to be targeted when the demons overran the globe. Though many died, some survived and knowing that they could not simply allow their craft to die off, came together to rebuild the Colleges. Though there is currently only one, that in the lands that were not devastated by the Demon horde it still represents one of the greatest concentrations of magical power and knowledge in the world. Though still few in number, many of the mages living today owe their knowledge and training to this college, or to its former students. Fynna owes her life itself, discovered alone and squalling among the burning ruins of a travelling group of humans, she was taken in by one of the servant families of the college. Though never destined to be a mage, Fynna was raised among them, and as was like to happen, picked up spells here and there. It was a plain and simple life, but protected within the walls of the college, it was hardly one filled with adventure or excitement, and Fynna dreamed of that.

Only half-mature, Fynna was dared by her friends among the servants to sneak into the vault, a task that proved surprisingly easy thanks to the invisible nature of servants, and to return with one item. Thinking a ring would prove easier to conceal should she be discovered, Fynna grabbed the closet artefact and slipped it onto her finger. She has rued her foolishness ever since.

The simple band of polished silver was none other than the Ring of Isilvar, a potent magical artefact, and one with a mind of its own. It began to talk to her, and promising that the only way she could gain freedom from its voice was to leave and seek to join Avalon's journey, she was faced with no choice but to do so. Stealing robes from the stores, and a horse from the stables, she set off into the world, posing as a mage of the college, instead of the simple servant she really was.

Rank/Status: Reluctant hero and false mage, in reality a common servant of the College of Mages.

Other: The ring talks to her, and Fynna will occasionally talk back, she’s not mad, but unless she reveals the truth of the Ring of Isilvar to her companions, it may appear she is a little unhinged to any who catch her muttering to herself.

She can wield some basic magics, but the vast majority from her power comes directly from the Ring, though she dislikes using it. The Ring of Isilvar has a mind of its own, and though sometimes she has no choice but to tap its might, it becomes more as though the Ring is wielding her, using her as a simple channel for magicks she was never meant to understand.
Hang on, let me check, are there still hero spots available? I think there are, but I don't want to assume and get it wrong :/
Colour me interested, I have to get up early but is it alright if I put something up tomorrow?
Awwww :(
