Ella made her way over to Isaac and hunched down next to his wounded leg. Carefully she touched the area around the splinter, trying to get a better look at it.

"I'd rather bleed because of a splinter, than a walker." Ella said, and then grabbed the splinter. "Alright, you ready?" she asked, but didn't wait for an answer before she pulled it out as quickly as possible. Then she took the soft material Isaac had handed her and pressed it onto the open wound.

"Hold on." Ella said, took Isaac's hand and placed it over the material and stood up. Ella hurried out of the room. In a small room, the bathroom, she found a towel, which she quickly grabbed and hurried back to Isaac.
"Here" Ella said, and tied the towel around his thigh.

Ella stumbled backwards when the bed, and Isaac, fell throw the floor. The loud bang of the bed hitting the floor echoed in the empty rooms.

Ella grabbed her backpack, swung it over her shoulders, and got down on her knees before she carefully started crawling over to the hole in the floor.

"Jump" Isaac said.

Ella crawled over the edge, letting her body hang in the air, while her hands still were gripping onto the edge. The next moment she let go. A slight pain shot through her body as her feet slammed onto the floor.

"We should hurry up"
@Pripovednik

"I'm Ella" Ella said, her eyes following Isaac as he walked over to the hole in the wall. She could almost see a plan form in his mind. A plan, she was sure, would include that hole.
"How far up are we?" Ella asked, but stood up and walked over to the hole herself. They were high enough for a jump to cause some very serious damage, most likely death.
Looks like fun, she thought as a cool breeze swept through the room.
"What do you need?"
Hi! I'm in Paris until Thursday, but I will do my best to post when I'm at the hotel :)

Ella looked at the guy with big eyes, somewhat taken aback by his choice of tactics in a situation like this. Yet, she wasn't completely surprised, she had seen an awfully lot of things that would have seemed both extremely reckless and impossible before the outbreak. Nowadays, nothing seemed impossible.

Ella was brought back from her thoughts by the guy telling her to go, which she gladly did. She quickly followed the guy through a door, and found herself in a much lighter room, lit by sunlight.

Ella locker the door before she slid down to the floor, taking a few deep breaths. She could feel her heart beat slowing down, and the adrenaline fading. Then she looked over to the guy.
"Hey," she said. "Thank you."
@Pripovednik

Ella jumped back in surprise when the door came crashing down, along with a guy who quickly got up. She looked at him for a second before she turned back to face the walkers. She aimed, and fired. She had to be more careful with the bullets she had left, not one could go to waste. Yet she knew, that no matter if she killed at every shot, there were simply not enough bullets to take them all down.

Six bullets left. Ella fired.
Five bullets left. One walker fell.
Four left. Another on fell.
Three.
Two.

Ella looked over at the guy next to her. He had been barricaded behind a door, yet he had broken it down to help her. It had been months since she had gotten any help from a living human, and several weeks since she had seen one alive. Now she had to make sure that they got out of there.

"I'm out!" Ella said as she fired one last time. "We need to get out of here."
Ella checked how many bullets she had left in her mag as she made her way down the badly lit corridor. She had a few rounds left and another mag inside her jacket, but other than that; she had left the rest of her ammo and her M11 in the car. A decision she wasn't so proud of anymore. Not only that, she had used one of the fire escapes to get into the building earlier, and that was no longer an opinion.

With her rifle pointed towards the floor, her eyes scanned the walls after a sign, which could leader her to the stairs and out of the building. She threw a glance over her shoulder, she could her the banging on the door she exited a moment ago. The pounding matched the beating of her heart inside her chest. She could handle zombies, but she would prefer not having to deal with them when she was stuck in a hallway and had no idea how many there might be.

To her relief Ella spotted a sign illustrating stairs. She rushed over to the door, placed her hand on the handle and pushed... Nothing.
"Shit." Ella cursed. "It says push for god's sake" She added.
Ella tried again, pressing her whole weight against to door in an attempt to open it. Still nothing.

The next moment, a door down the hallway flew open and three zombies stumbled out of the apartment at the same time. Ella spun around and fired three shots. One dead, one wounded, one miss. She fired again. Two down, four to do. Five to go. Six.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me."
Ella pulled the trigger. Click. She swore under the breath, letting the empty mag fall to the floor before replacing it with a new one. She needed to get through that door, and very soon.

Ella put the can of pineapples on the floor, leaning her head against the window frame. She closed her eyes and hummed silently. She had always liked silence, the stillness. There wasn't much of that left these days. Suddenly the sound of several gunshots reached Ella's ears, and she scrambled to her feet.

Ella stood quietly in the apartment for a moment, listening. The gunfire had died out, but it had been replaced by the rattle of the fire escape and the groans of dead people.

"Shit" Ella exhaled and hurried over to the window and slid it shut. She just had time to huddle up beneath it when the first walkers stumbled past it.

Ella scanned the room. Her rifle was lying next to her backpack on the kitchen table across the room.
"Shit" Ella said again. She kept her eyes on the window as she slowly crawled over to the table and pulled down her rifle and backpack. Then she waited for a moment, with her rifle pointed the window, before she continued crawling towards the door. Just as she opened it, she heard the window break behind her. Quickly Ella turned around and fired twice before hurrying out the door and closed it behind her.
Ella pulled out every drawer and opened every cupboard, the sound of the wooden drawers crashing onto the floor echoing in the rather small apartment on the second floor. She had found some cans, but it wasn't much, yet it was at least the fifth apartment she had looked through. She wasn't completely out of food, but she definitely needed to fill up her storage before leaving Cleveland, whenever she was going to do that.

Ella kicked aside a chair that was lying on the floor and dropped her backpack onto the table before picking up a can of pineapples. She had never liked pineapples, but since this goddamn apocalypse started she had gotten used to eaten whatever she could get her hands on.
She picked up a fork in the chaotic mess, which she was responsible for, on the floor and walked over to one of the windows facing the street outside. Ella sat down on the window sill, smiling slightly as a fresh breeze blew through the open window.

One of the things the virus, and the hell that followed, had taught Ella, was to not take anything for granted, to enjoy every possible moment. Like this one; sitting in a window in Cleveland, where she hadn't seen a zombie since she came yesterday.
