Welcome travelers! I am Odinson, ponderer, world architect, and self-proclaimed story-teller. Now perhaps right now you've actually taken the time to read this little intro and indulge my non-existent ego, more likely however you just skimmed to the part where I made a grocery list of all my expectations of you, and upon seeing them promptly raising your nose to the sky before clicking the back button. For this I shall not blame you, it is after all your every right to do so.
If by some miracle you had the attention span to actually read this, then may I humbly ask that you consider me and my clauses for at least five seconds, having read each of them all the way through, before returning to those kitty videos and dank memes you love so much internet dweller. Now, if you've suffered enough of my vain attempts to charm you with an overestimated wit, proceed to read on and judge my sense of taste.
Literacy
You see that tag under the thread with the word “Advanced” in it? That means that I, and others like me, prefer when our roleplays are highly literate, often containing quite a few paragraphs in each post, with content pertaining to implicit to explicit details of any particular subject matter within a narrative and attention to grammar and spelling.
Personally speaking, I don't have a “word count” as other may have, only that posts should be reasonably sized, say around three paragraphs. That isn't to say you can't have less, however I think it goes without saying that a single sentence is not acceptable and is a sign of laziness in an rp that is supposedly “advanced”.
Time and Communication
I am an adult, I live as adults do, and most adults can have both money and energy to do things but time is ever elusive. I do not need you to to post every day, I will not badger you or hound you into rushing. In return I ask for the same, I have places to go and my own pace of doing things. It will all be fine as long as we remain in contact during the week.
I will not for any reason ask for personal information such as a skype account, your email etc. Everything we need to rp and stay in contact is right here on this site, and I've not the need for anything else. All I ask in return is the same respect for anonymity.
Age
I want my partner to be over the age of eighteen. This however has nothing with the content of the rp, rather I am simply most comfortable conversing with adults instead of minors. Of course there is always the possibility of adult subject matters occurring, and I'd rather not have proof of any such thing involving a minor.
Romance
At best, secondary. It is not something I require, rather it should be a byproduct of the storyline that can play into the main narrative. It should be a progression of the characters through their own volition and not simply because we desire it, something natural and real for them as it would be for any being. I only have a taste for MxF though. My male characters also tend not to be initiators or the pursuers in relationships, which is another way of saying that they are not dominant. Submissive is not entirely correct either, but it is closer even though they value independence.
Mature Themes
I’m perfectly fine with violence and cursing, however when it comes to things of sexual nature I must say that “smut” is not something I have much experience in, though I suppose I could give it a try. There is a distinct difference between “violence” and “gore”, one gives gritty realistic detail, and the other can become ridiculous or even cartoonish. Cursing should reserved for characters it comes naturally to, or when it feels natural for a character to use that kind of language, not everyone has tourette’s syndrome.
Collaboration
I've tried 1x1s before, and often I've had to take the reigns in building a world, where the rp should go and such. I would rather have you with just as much input into the creative process as I do. I am incredibly imaginative, but it works best when I can bounce around ideas, otherwise creating new and fresh ones can take a while to cook in my brain, if I tried to rush out an idea it would be a half-baked, sad sack of potatoes.
Roleplaying Style
I'm a dude, so obviously I tend to play dudes. I can't say that I can't or won't play females, its just when I do they are usually not my main, and to avoid any amount of sexism I don't play them any differently than I do men, so I don't know how “accurate” they would be compared to a female character played by a female.
I’m strongest and most comfortable in grandiose and fantastic settings. Ones of large scope and can supply quite a few distinct feeling characters, characterized by the world they live in. Often this falls into high fantasy, or galactic space fairing settings, but I’ll try anything if the world is large and nuanced enough. Inversely, contemporary, or slice of life settings are what I’m weakest at, as they don’t hold much interest to me, and characters I create here are often weak and uninteresting as well.
Fandom
I'm a nerd, and as one I've fell in love with many narratives, characters and concepts over the years. When I play these I tend to avoid cannon characters and opt for ones of my own creation so that they can have their own story with no expectations of the outcome(s).
Reflecting my roleplaying style, my favored fandoms usually take place in a large universe capable of producing a diverse array of characters. It should also come as to no surprise that a lot of the are rolelaying games. I'll provide a quick list off the top of my head of universes I'm most interested in exploring.
These are simply what I could think of at the moment, and I certainly am open to more. I will say however that if I am not well versed in a franchise I probably won't go with it out of respect of representing the source material, otherwise you would have to wait until I finished that TV show, or book, or game.
