Slowly, Futility rises from the ashes. Very soon, I hope, we'll be able to wrap up this next round of scenes, but that's like 3-4 posts out at least. The hustle does not stop.

Alright my people, let's get down to business.

We will begin on the final day of Campbell's race. For this prologue portion, I'm going to split you into two groups. While the first group will be in close contact with Campbell as he delivers the final address during the last hours of voting and counting of the votes. This will essentially be something of a social/rally setting. Everything's starting to fall into place and it seems like there isn't much left to do, or is there?

The second group will have a much different dynamic. Following a tip from Campbell/Cass and their informants, the group will further investigate one particular voting station for a part of the Reclaim Zone that is expected to have a low turnout. With whispers of the election being rigged, tension is in the air, but is there any salt to the paranoid claims?

My thoughts right now are to put Alton Harris @AdobeFlash, Proctor Ryke @Firecracker_, and S'venia Skor @MagratheanWhale in the first group. With plans to keep eyes on Campbell and keep his image up to the last second, they'll have to be prepared for whatever may come on the important night in Reclaim's history.

This would leave Mackwell Sloane @The Bork Lazer, Emma Chen @Hour Error, and Cass Cantos in the second group to keep tabs on the strange polling station, uncovering what they can in the unorthodox investigation. Let me know your thoughts about the groups.

Also, I wanted to bring up that we now have basically a full cast, so now would be the ideal time to develop and flesh out any character connections and relations. I'll be asking a few of you about possible connections with my character in the coming hours.
Hey everyone. I'm really sorry to those of you who are waiting, but this weekend has me completely drowned in work. Additionally, there are a good deal of people who are still trying to squeeze applications in. As such, I'm going to be extending applications to tomorrow. I may be unable to respond to PMs today, but if you have quick questions, I'll try to get back to you.

Again, I'm sorry guys, but Futility is coming very soon!!

Welcome@Firecracker_ who will be joining us.

I worked on this over 2 days and I was sick for one of them but I hope this works out. Forgive me if there's anything contradictory because I've been multitasking all week. Finals are killing me!

Alton is accepted! Feel free to move to the character tab.

I am interested in making a prominent war reporter that decides to lay low after an assassination attempt on his life by joining Campbell's campaign as their reporter.

If anyone still intends to make a sheet, they need to be in by the end of today (EST), and I'll look at them. Gotta draw the line and stop stalling somewhere. Also, I'd mention that we do already have a reporter character in the party, so that may be prevalent to take into account.

I'll be mopping things up tomorrow most likely, then the group as a whole can begin discussing how we are going to begin the story. Also, please drop a message in the OOC if any stragglers do intend to make CS's before tomorrow, as I have a busy night and it would be nice to prepare some things for the party before tomorrow. I'll also be rounding off the party with any other characters I might deem to fit in (possibly relegating Cass to a more NPC-esque role). You'll be split into groups (likely 2 groups) that will be assigned separate tasks during the day of Campbell's mayoral election that will decide the outcome of the election.

I'll try to get a CS in before closure on Friday!

Just a question though, which one would be more welcomed; the earlier mentioned hitman, or a hacker contracted to wreck all sorts of havoc on opposition campaigns and such? We already have a bodyguard and a middle-aged man with criminal connections (which would have been my angle with the hitman) so I'm learning towards the hacker to keep the cast more varied. He would be a younger man in his twenties. Would a character like that work, or should I try to find a third option?

A hacker-type would definitely be a welcome addition. I was figuring someone would try something of the sort. Some sort of hitman could work too if you'd like to try that, but you'd have to come up with some way for him to contribute to the campaign.
Being slightly less sick and having rethought some of my original ideas, I tried to channel someone a bit more nobody-ish and far more monk-y:

The sheet looks good. You've got a neat concept. The only thing I'd mention is that since Emma is so heavily augmented, she's probably going to require Neurosynth to prevent the onset of SPECS. You don't have to add that into your sheet, but I wanted to let you know. Feel free to move to the character tab.

To prevent the RP from dragging on any further, I'm going to say that applications will be closing off on Friday. For those of you still getting a sheet together, you have a handful of days. From there, I'll begin to discuss where we will be starting off in the grand scheme of things.
Another question. What is or was the state of the military? Are they still around, were they just recently proven obsolete, and could there be veterans of past wars and services say in their late 20โ€™s early 30โ€™s?

The military will still exist, though it is mostly cut down to a reserve of elites that will strike at the command of the governing forces, though this is subject to change as different political parties take hold of the power. Most all of the hostile actions committed around the world will be done through paramilitary organizations. War will be occurring globally all the time, so veterans definitely still exist. Most of them just come from paramilitary groups for hire.
@OppositionJ

Would an enforcer have any use to the campaign or would that relegate my character to their own story away from the direction of the RP? I'd prefer the later if we could swing it.

I was actually hoping someone would take on the role of an Enforcer. It would be different from the party, but the dynamic would be skewed so vastly that it would redefine the party dynamic. I invite you to do so. We can work in your personal story alongside everyone else's of course.
@OppositionJ And up!

S'venia is all good. We've previously discussed any worries. You can move to the characters tab.

Not satisfied with it. Definitely needs to be proof-read but take this as a first draft. I will edit this further down the board. Also, two people competing for the same position.

Very well done. You're all good as well.

I do want to remind everyone, though, that our characters are not meant to be extremely well of or insanely powerful. You'll be working for a nobody and there's a reason for that.
@OppositionJ

Coupla questions.

1. Has Campbell overall allied himself with any corporations at the moment. Is he using any corporations as sponsors?

2. How many players are you expecting for this RP? Like numbers and so forth before you post in the IC?

3. A lot of CS's so far are worldbuilding in addition to your own world-building such as making our own corporations, expanding upon pre-existing lore that you built. I'm fairly certain that you imply this in your OP but we are allowed to world-build, right?

1. At the advent of the RP, Campbell will have just emerged from the Reclaim Zone. He's really just a sort of nobody. That's sort of the idea behind the RP, as everyone will start at this low-life level. He has no corporate sponsors nor any other affiliated organizations. When more character sheets come up, I'll start to explain what sort of scenarios the group will be undertaking at the beginning of the RP, as this is going to play a part there.

2. I hadn't had a specific number of players I was set on. I am looking at a max of around 9, but as not many sheets are coming in, I'm going to aim for around 5 (excluding myself) or something similar before we begin. Of course, this is all subjective depending on how many of the interested players are still making sheets.

3. I have nothing against an expansion of the world, but as the lore is already getting a bit cluttered and full of things that may not be used until far into the future, I encourage you to use worldbuilding in a way that would offer something to your character's story/goals rather than just writing for the sake of adding something to the world.

For anyone who is still working on a sheet, I will start accepting and workshopping the sheets that already exist tomorrow. I encourage anyone who hasn't finished to catch up, as I don't want to delay the advent of the story for much longer.
Alice had grown all too accustomed to clandestinely wielding her phone. It helped her place her gaze in these populated settings. Bernie spoke up just as Alice had already grazed through the online presence that seemed to suddenly surround Deus. By the time she had read Isaac's message, clicked onto SHS.com, and seen the slew of social media notifications, however, there was little she could do as Deus made his way out of the room.

"Deus," was all she managed to call towards her friend before he fled up the stairs with haste. The echoic slam of the door was met with a brief silence as no one seemed to know how to react. Alice quietly let out a sharp breath, setting her phone aside before the others got too focused on interrogating her. The urge to stand up and move after him was easily noticed as Alice shifted in her seat, but she ultimately conceded, knowing that she would never catch her friend. Of course, she also appeared completely at a loss for what to do. Instead, Alice's eyes momentarily scanned the crowd as if to find guidance in any one of the teens that dared to stand up with an idea. The general consensus seemed only to bring a collective sense of panic and distress.

Upon Augie speaking up, Alice merely tucked her phone at her side away from prying eyes. A slight reddening overtook her pallid complexion, but Alice remained otherwise passive. When Ara came in emotively, Alice gritted her teeth. She knew the whole confusion angle wasn't going to get them anywhere, but more importantly, she figured it wasn't going to get Deus anywhere. A nearly silent sigh escaped her lips before she rose to her feet. Biting down hard, Alice finally spoke up, sending a gaze to all of her friends. Someone had to.

"We... We have to do somethingโ€” go find him or something..." As her confidence in trying to direct the crowd drew thin, Alice grew quiet but continued nonetheless. "I think it would help... Or at least he'd appreciate it."
