@PandorasBox: Okay, um... the only magic that would work like that is a magic trait, which she could have(the way things work out in the Imaginary District allows for a fair number of them) but not as just the magic she does in general.

Also a bit wary of radiation as part of her powerset. ^^;

No drama, if its too much I'll just come up with a completely different character (and I'll go make sure I fully understand your idea of magic as well)
Name: Violet Geiger
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance:

Personality: She often comes across as being a very serious and somber person, and refrains from speaking except when necessary. However, for someone who seems like she dislikes people, she has a strange tendency to try and stick around them, even if she doesn't say much. This is because Violet's powers are linked to her mental state, and she doesn't have a lot of control over them when she's upset, so she tries to keep somewhat distant from people to avoid harming them. However, at the same time she yearns for closeness to other human beings and feels horribly lonely in her self imposed isolation, causing her to become somewhat fixated on anyone who does reach out to her. She does get around this problem somewhat due to the magic of social media, but she still craves more direct contact.

When she does start to open up to people, Violet reveals herself to be overly hard on herself. She puts herself down constantly, doubts her ability to really do anything worthwhile in life, and generally sees herself as a burden. She can also be quite obsessive, especially with those who do show her kindness despite her bleak outlook on herself, simply because it feels good to have their validation. However, her clingyness can end up driving people away, so in order to combat this she tries her best to do favours and please that person as much as possible so that they put up with her. Usually they do eventually leave, unless they're the kind of person who enjoys having someone emotionally dependent upon them.

Abilities: Violet's magical abilities change drastically with her mood. When she's feeling calm, her powers are rather stable and somewhat limited. She can heat objects, see through certain types of objects (like thin walls) and can generate electricity within her body that she can use to power various electronic devices by touching them. However, when she becomes upset, her powers become quite violent. She gains the ability to create radioactive explosions, the size and power of which are dependent upon just how angry she is at that point in time. The aftermath of these attacks results in a radioactive gas, but it tends to disappear naturally within a few minutes. This effect can knock people out and make them feel rather sick, Violet included, hence the gas mask.

Skills: Violet is rather fond of rock climbing, and this makes her somewhat mobile, although it really isn't anything to write home about. She's somewhat okay with electronics and coding as well, due to spending so much of her childhood and adolescence on the computer.

Equipment: Her prized possessions are a Gas Mask which she either has on her face or wears around her neck, and her laptop, mobile modem included, which she keeps on her at all times in a bag she carries around.

Brief Backstory: Violet was born as the youngest sibling of three children, in a family that tended to all have similar powers. As such, she was expected, like her older siblings, to be able to control her powers quite easily, as usually this magic had no relation to the individual's mental state. However, Violet's magic was defective, and around the age in which she should have been in control, she simply found she couldn't. Her power surged and waned at random, making her parents deem her to be a hazard to other people. As a result, they kept her isolated, homeschooling her, and spent hours each day trying to teach her control, but to no avail. During this time, Violet became increasingly lonelier as the only regular human contact she had was with her family members who were resistant to her magic. So she ended up turning to the internet to find other people out there to connect with, the most important of these being a boy who called himself Ace Jack.

The two became quite close, and although she never told him about her powers, she did say that she struggled with emotional outbursts. Jack suggested that she learn mindfulness meditation and breathing techniques to help her remain calm, which despite being very difficult, managed to help Violet keep her emotions stable enough that her parents were comfortable letting her leave for small periods of time (with supervision). Desperate to try and find some human interaction, she set out to a small park and met some people there who she connected with quite quickly. Every free moment she had, Violet would go and spend time with those teenagers, getting to know them, and for the first time in her life feeling truly connected to the people and the world around her. However, one of the boys in this group started showing signs of interest in Violet. This wouldn't have been a problem, except for the fact that he was dating another girl. She became increasingly angry and jealous, until one day she decided to settle her problem with Violet, and wound up in a heated argument. Violet lost control over her powers, and ended up putting many of her friends in hospital. Seeing how dangerous she really was, Violet decided to leave her parents house and stick by herself on the streets, trying to keep as far away from other humans as she could.
I might potentially be interested in this, depends a bit on how the plot goes.

Also, you don't get to be Master status just simply working on things on your own. Working with others in the Academy to learn more about your element, dual against others, study, read, and all that stuff. So, becoming a Master then arriving at the Academy doesn't really make sense.

I think you're confusing Florence with Sylvia. Florence joined the Academy at the age of 8, achieving Master Rank when she was 36. Sylvia is her daughter, who was accepted into the Academy that same year that Florence achieved Master Rank. So, it should be fairly obvious, that she's spent 28 years of her life studying etc at the Academy, not just working on her own. That would be stupid.

But if you guys don't want another Master that's fine, I just assumed it was okay seeing as you said you'd take 1-2 of them.

I'd be up for this :)
Hey guys - I'm having a little bit of trouble with my internet connection at the moment, and I don't know how often I'm going to be online, so feel free to bunny Coraline if necessary
Well the situations that logically pop in my head for a teacher are: there's a study evacuation going on, he could be heading that, or he could be in class and noticing the lack of students perhaps, or maybe with Akiza?
Coraline groggily woke up, finding herself staring at steel bars that were separating her from what appeared to be some kind of high tech laboratory. Her mind felt dull and slow, so she could only stare blankly at her surroundings while trying to figure out exactly what had happened. There had been that locker, and a hissing sound... and that freaking trash can. That right there was how people developed trust issues. Feeling more with it, she sat up, only to realize that she appeared to be in some sort of cage - and she wasn't the only one. Some other students were laying on the floor nearby her, all of them out cold. Coraline felt a slight chill go through her at the realization that she seemed to have found herself in the middle of some kind of mass kidnapping.

Shoving down a flicker of panic, she started looking around in search of something reflective, and hopefully big enough for her to fit through. Her eyes flickered to the cold steel ground she was laying on, but she could see straight away that it wasn't shiny enough for her to be able to access her dimension. The sudden sound of the mechanical whirring of a machine caused her to drop to the ground, screw her eyes shut, and try to remain as still as possible. She heard the sound stop, followed by a squeak of metal, and a soft thud. Coraline waited, heart pounding, until she was certain that whoever had been there had left, before opening her eyes. There was now another student in the cage. She spotted what could be a door, and crawled over it. From there she could see that the cage they were in was suspended in the air by something, and the whirring sound was probably the lift underneath the cage working. The door to the cage was locked, as she'd sort of figured. In her head, she went over a possible escape idea. It seemed that the cage was opened when another student was placed into it, and she could attempt to overpower who or what put them in there to get out. However, she didn't exactly think she would be able to do that quietly, so instead, she went to examine the lock further, to see if she might be able to pick it or not.
By the man initiating conversation, that saved Renee from feeling quite as uncomfortable as she originally had been. "I've come here to do a bit of travelling and figure some things out." She said vaguely, as she wasn't the kind of person go to and discuss her situation with a stranger. "This place seemed cheap so I figured I'd stay here. Although its a lot fancier than I thought it would be." Renee glanced at him, paying him more attention now that they were talking. He wasn't half bad to look at she supposed, sorta reminding her of one of the guys she'd met briefly while deployed. "What about yourself?"
