I've had Johnny Cash on my mind all day. Can't get "When the Man Comes Around" out of my head. Tempted to let it influence some writing or make it a character's "theme"

I'm a bit scattered brained lately, so if I need to respond to a roleplay response, just remind me, I could've forgotten.

Finally got Kokotha thread up. It's gonna be awkward in the first day of moving it here.

Hello, I am Patches
I roleplay as a hobby, as well as designing OCs to be used in various types of roleplays. No matter the setting, I believe I have one just for the situation.
A sand filled pit? Interesting... It's in Yiskin... That'll explain why he is here, Yiskin vikings did come here long before the earliest Kokothan settlers. Most of the words are gone but I'll try to fill in gaps. She said, studying the paper, trying very carefully to not destroy the paper, fearing it'll fall apart at the slightest touch; it was already hanging by a few scraps in places, but she had to save it from further damage. Abbe is his name. Seems they came here in search of treasure~ Poor soul... I hope he got his reward in the after life.
The knife Lucille had looked to be Isz in nature. Must've been found in the tomb. It possessed a strange shape, double edged but asymmetrical, bearing strange patterns down the blade. As a matter of fact, the blade itself couldn't have been sharp enough to cut butter.
Lucille, come here, you have to be having as much fun with this as I am!
It is the year 4106, the 1500th anniversary of the extinction of humanity. The 1499th anniversary of the activation of the Lifeline. 802nd anniversary of the Virus War.
Since the extinction of humanity, society has since been preserved with the use of the Lifenet. A powerful self-replicating supercomputer, spanning across the dead countries of the world, set to activate remotely once humanity was truly gone. The world within the Lifeline is a preservation of human society. Virtual cities, countries, even small towns, all replicated in their own servers. Humanity might be long gone, but society has lived on, replicated by AIs, made to think, act, and feel as any human would.Programs came and went. Conflict was had and solved now and again. Yet, progress was made and for 697 years, all was as it was before the extinction event. Then, then came the arrival of the Virus Force.
The Virus Force, spawned from an unknown server, is a force set to destroy the various servers around the world. Not only able to erase AIs, but also destroy and corrupt the data that makes up the environment of the servers. Attacking them one by one, and leaving nothing but another spawning point for the Virus Force. But, Lifeline wasn’t without a response.
Come the Aegis Program. Essentially a very powerful anti-virus program, ran by programs with weapons, abilities, and information to counter the virus menace. Their task: To counter any attacks by the Virus Force, debug any corrupted servers and repair what they can, and gather any data on the old world that they can.
As mentioned above, Meaningless Code is a roleplay set in a virtual world, after the extinction of humanity. For those who've played it, a lot of the inspiration for this canon comes from Nier: Automata, a game I really enjoyed, along with a few other things. I will likely impliment a Discord server, if this gets enough people into it.
Questions that you may have Q: What are servers? A: Servers can be thought of as virtual pocket dimensions, worlds made of code, some the size of a country, others the size of a city, others the size of a building or small town. Some servers can look even more bizarre, some can even resemble a surrealist painting or impossible geometries.
Q: What are the AI programs like, can they be human? A: Most AIs are human in appearance. But, having bodies made of code, they can be changed for the right price, some even giving themselves non-human features.
Q: What are the Viruses like? A: Viruses come in several shapes and sizes. Their bodies are usually streamline, resembling simple wireframe or polygon models, completely dark in color other than the single white eye that all viruses possess in the center of their face. From the human-sized foot soldier to the towering behemoth shieldbearer, Aegis members need to learn to counter the various types of viruses.
Q: Are AIs aware that the world is destroyed? A: Some servers hide it and believe themselves to be human, but for Aegis member it's unavoidable.
Q: How close are AIs to humans? A: They can do the basics: Talk, walk, feel emotions, feel pain and comfort, they can eat but they don't have to, and experience most things humans can. However, there are things they can't do, such as reproduce, due to AIs being created rather than born through sexual reproduction.
Q: What is the story right now? A: I have none in mind other than the "gather data and save infected servers?"
Q: What are the types of Aegis members? A: Once I get enough people interested, I'll make more posts about this. Right now is a DPS, Tank, Healer, type set up but this might get changed down the line. There are also different types of weapons available, to which some types can use and others can't.
@Yomojo Give me a moment She said, picking up a small satchel on the hip of one of the long dead adventurers. These two and their partner back there may be long dead, but their words can help us.
As for what Lucille and Ash were doing, the walls of the sphere shaped room didn't yield any finds, perfectly smooth and carved, not even writing on it. The sandy material on the floor would feel like it went far deeper than the size of the room implied. Possibly leading down into a filled pit.
Wingate managed to find a few things in the satchel; a empty canteen of water, a knife, what looked like centuries old rations, and lastly, a journal. Mmm~ Now that's what I was looking for. She said, grinning at the find.
Inspecting the bodies, Wingate tried to prove one of Lucille's assumptions. Weapons are drawn. There was likely a fight here. If it was a fight between them, one could've killed the other and the other died of blood loss. That or the killer... she said, looking back where they came, Is our friend back there at the entrance. Inspecting the bones for any damage, she responded The Isz were known for their rune machines, so watch out for anything that could still be active. Take a look at this. She said, pointing to the spine on one of the skeletons. A hole shaped wound, separating the two vertebrae Some sort of stabbing weapon killed this one. Like a spear or spike. However... She pointed to the other skeleton in the room. That one over there is holding an axe. Not suited for stabbing... This is quite puzzling indeed.
@Ember Storm I'll just be down here, getting shot at. Gregor shouted, taking pot shots at a few mooks, a slight grin on his face over the prospect of taking down a few of these goons. Sure, he may have been a criminal himself, working in the underground, cheating big businesses out of their money. But at least he wasn't one of the Children! Try not to harm valuables, I want some of them!
Gregor did wonder how Duff was going to handle these people. Without magic, he'd expect him to be outmatched. More than often though, there was more than meets the eye.
@MercuryNH The bolts successfully hit their targets, the combination of storm and light magic from range successfully taking out the guards. Nice work, keep it up. He said, taking cover to regain his senses, as Mercury continued her assault. Can't say that this is a common occurrence. Gregor said, getting out of cover. But it ain't uncommon.
@hefewy The path was mostly cleared, a few more guards coming down the way, easy work for the long range of Duff.
This one was really energetic. Almost too much so... Gregor wondered if he would've been bettered on the sewer team, but it didn't quite matter anymore.Daud, you lead the way. I'll tell you where to go. Gregor said, motioning forward, pistol in his hand, Straight forward, the second door on the right should be it. Duff will keep us covered I hope.
@Nashie @Ember Storm Making Amalgamates? she said, furrowing her brow. The whole anti-noncaster attitude the Children had was one thing, but to want to make Amalgamates was another. We can't just stand around and let this go underway. She said, recalling what the guards said from earlier... Astrid seemed to have the same idea too. The thing in the holding cells, think that might be one of them?
@Blizzardofoz123 Try not to burn any of the papers here. She said to Kordan, with a smirk, she claimed The more information about this place that gets out, the better. Feel free to burn any of the Children though.
As she looked around the room, she inspected a map on the wall, detailing the floor plans of the basement. If we're here, then the holding cells should be directly north... It's awfully quiet. SO look out. Punching her left palm with her right fist, making a loud clanking sound, Yoshimi seemed to be reinvigorated from before. Come on. She said, opening the door to the hall, leading to the holding cells.
Implying the use of brute force doesn't suggest I believe you're a brute. Well, Wingate did believe she looked a bit like one, with those muscles of hers, but she couldn't let Ash know that. No matter, I will watch my words in the future. It is for the best of us both, is it not? She said, as she began to head down into the tomb, being extra careful; for all she knew, the floor could give way at any moment.
Very well, Miss Lucille. I didn't mean to imply I thought of her as a brute. But, that isn't here nor there, for now we must venture forth. She said, as the corridor began to lead into a wide open room. Covered in smooth stone, giving a shiny appearance to the whole room. Two more skeletons lied in the center of the room, weapons in hand, both of them lying on the only flat surfce in the room, the floor, which seemed to be covered in a gray sandy material.
My my... What do you suppose happened here? Wingate said, carefully making her way over to the two long dead adventurers.
@Yomojo Inspecting the corpse, Wingate tried to identify how old it was. Must have been centuries ago... Far before the cities of Kokotha were built. Poor soul, he must've been trapped in here and slowly suffocated or starved.
If all is lost and the door is unable to be reopened, in the even that it closes, I give you permission to use brute force. as much as she hated the idea, she wasn't prepared to die a slow death of being trapped in a tomb. She didn't plan on joining the dead any time soon.
With the rune on her glove glowing, she went forward, taking things slowly. She hoped that if there were any traps, they were already activated or disabled by the previous explorers here.
@Afro Samurai Wait what? I ain't payin'. I ain't got any money. Well... Actually he did. But he couldn't let this new guy know that and mooch off of him further. I say whoever suggests others pay for drinks has to pay for drinks. He said, argumentative as ever.
@tex @Yomojo HEy, if you don't like being a mascot or searching for others of your kind, so be it, I don't see you suggesting other ideas, kitty cat. Scoffing, he added But my buddy here is right. Just because you haven't seen any, doesn't mean they aren't out there. I think those dogs at the Special FOrces have a guard dog with a brand.
@Jabber Taking a seat, Shen-Mu waited for the meeting to begin. Not good at first impressions. She said, staring in Tumble's direction. Regardless, I suppose I am happy to be here. As long as you don't strangle more of us.
@HeroicSociopath ...Even when they deserve it. She said, turning to face Yuki.
