Alive. Finally got a post up TTvTT, sorry i left you hanging there for so long @FateWeaver. I'm finally settled into uni. Huzzah \(^.^)/

Dominic Matraz

@FateWeaver
He held the door open for Lyla and Cauldron. He observed the array of plants in the greenhouse, not substantial enough for it to be anywhere near the amount greenhouses in Pocio but clearly displaying the resources that Rosa Clare Academy had to offer. He ran up to the left side and examined the leafs on a certain plant. He took out a lighter, plucked of a leaf and lit it on fire. The leaf gave out the a wonderful but gentle scent that filled the greenhouse. "This is agrablaj, its really hard to ship this anywhere because it has very specific growing conditions but the academy seems to have it under control, it's really good for healing and water elemental spells". He quickly puts it out on floor and disposes of the leaf.

He goes through several aisles of plant stopping to present certain plants and how to identify them and their noticeable properties, by lighting them or dunking the cup of water from his flask to release certain fragrances. He felt like he was showing off a little but Lyla seemed receptive to it, so he decided to carry on. He then stops at a particular plant with wide, pink leaves. Knowing that Lyla couldn't see how unique this plant was handed her a leaf so she could feel it instead. "This is Laŭta trafo dormanta, or at least that what we call it in Pocio. It is really unique and often used in as a core component in fire potions. Often it can be coloured and used to make visual displays such as fireworks or flamethrowing performances. However it is quite safe it it's current form. It also does something very unique which is emit a rose like scent when lit in it's flora form and burns very slowly due to its overtly waxing nature" He gently took the leaf and set it alight at the very tip. But the scent of roses did not appear. Instead was the scent of cherry bake-wells. "Ummm- that's odd" He took a closer look at the leaf. What he had failed to notice earlier was the small patches of yellow that were creeping up from the base of the leaf, signalling the expiry of the leaf and its need for disposal as the chemical structure changed. He quickly tried to put the leaf out against the ground however it didn't go out. He then in a panic, stuffed it in the flask and closed the lid. The flask grew hot.

"Oh dear, I'll be back" he bolted out the door and looked for the nearest deserted area in the vicinity, noticing a large patch of overgrown grass about 10 meters wide, in the distance but within clear eyesight, he checked no one was inside the patch and gently set flask on the ground, his hands thankful for the release of the object that had steadily become to hot to handle for any longer and checked that the coast was clear. He ran back to the greenhouse, panting. "We should leave, like right now" he held the door open again for Cauldron and Lyla. The concoction created from the leaf, water and containment dissolved the flask and began scorching the ground around it, little sparks flying out and igniting blades of grass before fizzling out. The entire patch of grass which he had hoped would hide the flask was burnt down and while the concoction had evaporated, the evidence that it was there was all too clear. The smell was awful with the patch of ground burnt and blackened, still lightly on fire in some areas. "And probably pretend we were never here". As they briskly walked back, he felt a thick veil of embarrassment and guilt. "I'm really sorry" he mummered. "I can't believe I was so foolish as to not check for age, what would Mother say about such a lack of-" He stopped in the middle of that thought to feel complete dread, "Mother, can never find out about this".

"Wow, i would have never guessed" He finished up the hot cocoa and placed the cup next to Lylas plate. "Its no surprise, coffee is known to be not the best beverage when in development of appendages" he finished up the cleaning and began packing away. "I spent a lot of my time learning but not much time experiencing and meeting, but on the plus side I can concoct just about any potion available...usually", his success was roughly 85% but the 15% margin of failure could yield anything from potions having a shorter effective time to having unusual side effects. Pondering on it, this was the longest conversation he had held since arriving and he spent most of it in the flat.

"I don't really know my way around this campus and I heard there was a greenhouse on campus. I don't what type of plants they have there but I think I can request for a spot for some of the more exotic plants I cant grow in a pot on my windowsill. Do you want to check it out? Hopefully we can meet some more people in our year" His meeting with Lyla had gone so smoothly, he wondered why he was so anxious in the first place. He went quickly hopped over his room and grabbed the campus map he had requested for earlier and hopped back to door scooping up Cauldron. "Oh I forgot this Cauldron, she my familiar and pet pig. If you feel anything brush against your legs or snuzzle up to you, its probably because you have food in your hand that she wants to eat" He paused to give Cauldron a little belly stratch she returned with glee. "Overall, she's a darling"

After frying up a stack of pancakes, decorating it with various berries in a symmetrical designs and powered sugar, laying out maple syrup and plates. He placed a stack of pancakes in front of Lyla and pulled out a chair for her to sit on. He placed a single pancake on plate for Cauldron and began making coffee. He felt the atmosphere in the relax began and he finally felt more comfortable. The skills needed for being proficient in potion craft was always useful in cooking despite only really using cookbooks rather than being taught.

"So, what type of splice are you? I mean noticed the fox ears...but I not entirely sure what gives you wings.." He thought for a second "Unless that's a rude to ask and if so feel free to ignore what I asked" He didn't want to be to pressing but his curiosity was itching to know. He felt that Lyla was a was gentle type of soul who didn't seem to mind many things at all. As someone who has been described as 'irritating and neurotic, with a penchant for nervous chatter' he hoped he was able to get along with someone who seemed very carefree and friendly. Maybe he could learn how to be more relax more infront of others.

"I haven't asked you if you would like any coffee or hot chocolate or any hot beverage in particular?" Dominic turning around to grab a cup and settle the kettle.

IT had been noticiably quiet fro quite some time and Dominic hadn't caught even a glimpse of his flatmate, the entire time he was reading. He shifted from his position and scooped up a sleepy eyed Cauldron, moving forward off his bed and quietly opening the door into the greater apartment. The first thing he noticed was that the short red headed person in front of him had fox ears. He stared them at them, and noticed one twitch a little before locking eyes with the owner of said ears and trying to put on a welcoming smile.

"H-hello, My name's Dominic Matraz. I-I'm your new roommate. Uh-nice to meet meet you-" He extended his right hand out very briefly before realizing it was the same arm cradling the now awoken Cauldron and the retreating it back and replaced it with his actually free hand for a handshake. Or may be he should have bowed or kissed her hand like he saw other gentlemen do when they greet a woman. Deciding that the latter option was by far the last thing he would ever do to some he just met he double-downed on just completing the introduction stage without anymore incident.

"Hectic morning, huh? Sorry about all the noise, I just couldn't feel sleep comfortably without being surrounded by all sides by glassware. I promise the keep the noise down." He smiled nervously, fidgeting with his glasses, and Cauldron's ears. " Well, I don't know about you but I could go something to eat. I brought some ingredients, why not have an early - late morning brunch on me. Any thing you'd like... umm I didn't quite catch your name." He scratched the back of his head, wishing he had learned more than just the number of his apartment when he asked.

Fateweaver Nah, It's fine. Dominic will make his way over after realizing that he did have a flatmate but didn't hear or see them at all.Will probably post in a few hours.
Finally got a post done. :)

Dominic immediately regretted sending the moving men away, as they had only carried up the stairs and no further. With excess supplies and equipment as a present from his mother, he found he really didn't have the basic strength to push the cart containing them all and would have even more trouble unpacking it all. He realised he had been sent a challenge to actually set up his own lab instead having a pre-built one ready for him such as the one at home. His mother was never one to cater to laziness and considered ingenuity, drive and hard work above all else. He sighed and became pushing.

30 mins later, Dominic had finally gotten it all up into the apartment and into his room. He took a quick break, using the time to examine the spacious room and look for best place to start setting up. He had requested nothing but a bed, a desk and many, many shelves. This allowed him space to fill almost every corner of the room with equipment. By the time he was done, the room has transformed into a laboratory. Jars of ingredients lined the shelves, vials, test tubes and glass tubes placed around the room on tables. The single desk had stacks of books and scrolls.

Satisfied, he opened Cauldron's cage and placed her bed and feeding bowl next to his bed. She shot out and trotted around the room several times, gazing at each section of the room before settling on her bed and sleeping. He didn't expect much from her but even that was more underwhelming than usual. He shrugged, took a book from his desk and sat crossed-legged on his bed and began to read.
