All Might
Toshinori Yagi
All Might’s brows furrowed in further confusion at what Joel said — and especially at the fact that the man had looked at him like he’d suddenly sprouted a second head for not knowing what this Cordyceps infection was. By the sound of it, this infection had killed more people than one could imagine, definitely not something that would have gone beyond his notice.
Then again, hadn’t they reacted with similar unknowing at something he’d said that was equally impossible not to know? Perhaps some in the world would not know what he looked like in his weakened state, but there was hardly anyone in the world, especially in a closely allied country like the United States, that didn’t know the name All Might. At the very least, they should have looked at him like he was crazy for claiming to be such a legendary hero.
As realization began to sink in, All Might took another look around the room, at the wildly different people that had been gathered here with no explanation and no real idea where they were. There were styles of dress that differed wildly from one person to the next, some looking like garb from eras long past, while others wore futuristic suits of combat armor. Some had features seen only in fantasy and fiction, while others more closely resembled animals than humans, and there was even a robot. None of this was strictly impossible in his world of superpowers and crazy genetic mutations, but given the context, it was the final piece of the puzzle.
”Th-this… This isn’t my world…” he practically breathed out in stunned realization. ”In fact, I don’t think this is any of our worlds. That buzzing in the back of my head, my body going numb on me… That hadn’t been shock, or grief — I’d somehow been taken, snatched right out of the Hero Commission!”
As the reality of the situation finally sunk in, he returned his attention fully to Tess, Joel, and Sarah, his previous look of confusion replaced with the sort of stern confidence one might not expect from someone so outwardly sickly. He’d even stopped slouching, finally standing at his full imposing height of seven feet, two inches.
”That’s probably what happened to all of you as well, right? Wherever you were last, you just passed out and woke up here?” he questioned, his voice losing it’s previous meekness and gaining an almost heroic strength. ”And if we were taken, that means we were taken by someone, and for a purpose. The fact that such a purpose involves locking the lot of us in an impenetrable prison doesn’t bode well. I don’t want to panic you, but we could all be in very real danger here. Tess, Joel, the two of you seem capable and experienced in combat. Stay vigilant. As for you, Sarah… Try to remain calm and stay at your father’s side at all times, understood? Nothing about this is right, and I think we’re about to find out why very soon…”
