"Eh?" Lyra's ears perked up, and then she looked down at the strings of her violin. Some of them were still pulsing, but not like the sound left after they're plucked and left as is, more like they're still being played, quietly, by invisible bow. Immediately after she noticed this oddity, it stopped, and the air was again quiet.

"Oh, I didn't know it can do that. Well, it shouldn't. Nothing was touching it." Lyra said. "Or, did I do that? Hmm."

There were so many things about these elements that were unknown to her. Her mentor from back in her hometown, who had taught her a thing or two about the elements in secret. Wind, he had said, is an invisible force. It's always around you, even if you can't see it. A wind elementalist can make this invisible force do things that you wouldn't normally expect.

She was woolgathering in her mind. Lyra turned her attention back to the girl. "Mmm, oh yes! This is also my first day here. My name's Lyra. I'm a wind elemental." She offered her hand to shake. "Well, I don't really have anything else to do today. I can explore with you, if you don't mind me."

@Raptra
Some fighting and some diplomacy and some lore-diving?

Sounds fun, aye.

Lyra heard the claps first, and then the voice, which sounded like a curious sort of compliment. It took her a couple more seconds before she noticed that they were for her. Blinking, she struggled to take her eyes and mind off the stones that was a mosaic that was a wall, just enough to see the girl who was now next to her. She was blonde, and seemed to be her age. That surprised her, a bit. She thought the compliment sounded like something from an adult. Or a fine lady.

"Oh, ah. Thank you," Lyra said. There was another thing the girl was saying aside from the compliment. A question? Something about the music. Lyra took the bow of her violin off the strings, so she could take a look at it. She couldn't really remember what prompted her to bring the violin out. "Ah. Hmm. I don't know. I'm not sure what I was playing, really."

She turned to the girl. There was something bright about her, not in a happy or cheerful sort, although she does look happy, but just bright, like the sun is bright. A student in an elemental academy who looks bright. Ah. "You're a light elemental, aren't you?" Lyra asked curiously. "Are you a student here too?"

She did not at all notice that the violin was still making faint music, as if humming, even after she'd stopped playing.

Posted. Lyra is idling outside, making noise and marvelling at the architecture. Come bump at her.

@Regitnui: I read your CS. Zeke sounds like he's as much a cloudcuckoolander as Lyra. They'll be great friends I think, though when they first met they'll probably be too busy with their own head to notice each other. ;)

There was a beauty, a pleasant sense of freedom, to The Academy that Lyra could not remember from the city where she came from. She spent the classes thinking about it. Was it the air, the trees, the leaves? It was cleaner here, for sure. Not a trace of pollution in the air, and there was always a gentle breeze flowing. But that wasn't all There was a hum in the earth, a kind of natural rhythm that in other inhabited places, Lyra thought, would be obscured by the sounds of civilization. But there were people here too and there were plenty of technology. Hmm, so what was it?

Either way, she loved it. She loved, especially, how pleasantly sound carried through the clear air of the school grounds. Her father had told her playing the violin requires a room with good acoustic, but here she was, right outside the central building on the grounds where they had assembled in the morning, and the music was flowing out of her. She was absent-mindedly playing some tunes, improvising here and there, while gazing at the outside walls of the building. A mosaic of wood and stone, it was beautiful and strange and oddly transfixing. The materials that made it out interlocked with each other with precision that Lyra found pleasant to guess at.
Throwing my interest in. I do love chess metaphors.

Say, if I was gonna create some sort of fancy banner art for this, do I just ask about it in another thread...?

Err, what thread? If you want to make one, you can just... make one?

Haha, don't mind me, I'm just browsing around. The setting seems interesting, but I'm not really familiar with it, so I don't think I'll be a good fit here. Good luck with the roleplay, though!
