¿Where Are We¿

Welcome to Riverway

An old roadside sign says as you drive slowly by, passing through a small, isolate town nearly in the middle of nowhere in direction of the cabin you and a few others were staying in. The flyer definitely made it look more appealing. This town was nearly empty, it probably wasn't but it sure seemed that way; only a few straggling faces here and there, curiously looking your way as the car drove by, their heads turning as their eyes followed the car. Its buildings were worn down, and not to mention the condition of the roads, which were seriously haphazardous, someone could get hurt, but this was Spring Break, and honestly, getting away from society sounded nice. The cabin, as you had found out earlier, was miles out of town, surrounded by a thick pine forest and a misty cover that hopefully cleared out soon, but other than the creepy, perfect-scene-for-a-horror-movie town and the forest that only enhanced that feel, it was perfect for a getaway with friends. Isolated. No authorities. Freedom. Trouble was definitely bound to stir up. But it was perfect.

A tiny, mysterious town with few, but odd residents, Riverway is home to the infamous Pine Forest, eerie is just one word to describe it, though fascinating. Mist covers the forest floor during a large portion of the year, but sometimes, on rare occasions, it does clear out, revealing a large and beautiful lake that glistens under the sun; tall and ancient pine trees, some of them containing hearts with the initials of past lovers carved in them, serving as memories to the residents; and the town certainly brightens up as the local diner is much more lively and known for its to die for food.

But like the mist that hangs around, the mysterious town is shrouded in rumors, whispers, and conspiracies. There are more than a few abandoned buildings with the phrase “Bring Them Back” graffitied in large letters all around the town with small piles of dead flower bouquets under them. Posters and flyers scattered around on boards through the area talk about alien sightings and masked murderers, and old news articles mentioning disappearances of random tourists and other nameless people. Riverway definitely has a dark history that only few know about, and perhaps it's better that way.

And not only that, to those few who've been here for some time know that the forest seems to have a mind of its own. The isolation and the stillness of life around it causes a sense of paranoia over time, making people see and hear things that aren't there, and slowly tearing down the mind's emotional defenses leading to fight or flight responses and mental breakdowns. Common sense, trust, and realistic thinking slowly dissipate as tension heightens in a seemingly exponential manner. Or so it is rumored. But hey, it's Spring Break bitches.

Nobody...

Rules
__________
-For the basics, I would like posts to be at least 2-3 paragraphs
-Of course, everyone has lives other than this, but please post a once or twice a week please
-There will be plenty of drama within the roleplay, so keep it in there, thanks
-As for the one above: Drama is e n c o u r a g e d, along with characters who have some type of emotional baggage. It helps me with the plot more

"You'll really draw me? Thank you, thank you!" Matina exclaimed, moving forward to wrap her arms around Fara, but then faltering as she realized she should probabaly stay still. A few seconds later, her eyes lit up as she said, "Oo, hold on one sec, lemme go get a chair. Maybe that'll be easier," rushing around the counter once more to find a suitable chair. Grabbing the nearest one, she lifted it above her head and ran back over before setting it down, the back of the chair facing Fara so Matina could lean against it. "Sorry, just had to make myself comfortable, but I'm ready now," Matina said, giving a small smile before letting her face rest.

A few moments later, her eyebrows began to furrow in contemplation. "Anyway, is it okay if I give you a nickname? I don't have a nickname for you yet, so I wanna give you one. Hmm, what about Fara-Bear? No, that's still too long," she began thinking out loud. "Something with "bear" in it. Fare-Bear? Ooo, yes I like that one. I'ma stick with that one, though it sounds kinda like a pet name, but that's okay, right? Right," she nodded.

"But that's awesome, video games are cool! I don't get to play a lot, I'm usually busy most of the time, but I'd play any game that you've designed. I bet it'd be really cool, and I only know one character!
