Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

I have a friend that just joined with me last night, and this might interest her. Only thing is she won't be around today due to trravel. Is it okay if I post my friend's potential interest for her?
I'm interested, definitely. I even have a character that - because of issues from his past - can't actually stand being alone for lengths of time *read: 6+ hours*.

But one thing I'm curious about - what is your stance on mental disorders? I know some people (not on this site as I'm wicked new, but in general) have issues with people playing characters with mental disorders, so I'd like to verify it's okay before I get my character excited for this kind of thing.
I'm going to throw my interest in here (since this is the first one I've been interested in that isn't full so yey to newly started threads.)

I'd like to make a recommendation of wasp.
Hi.

So, like Bee, I'm also new and a veteran RPer from a different site. Bee's actually the one that suggested I come over here to look around. The other site was kind of full off...well, it wasn't as nice as this place looks anyways. But even before that, I started RPing when I was 13 - all those years ago - as a fast paced, chat box interaction *read: Yahoo Chat Role Playing section* as one line posts but evolved, after I found better/more interesting partners there.
I haven't really looked back since and kind of hate one liner/fast paced threads. I'd classify myself as a casual role player, mostly because I haven't explored the site too much *and may not always have time for role play.* As an experienced role player in many different mediums (yahoo chat, a forum site, exposition through dialogue encouraged by a writing group I help(ed) run) I am well versed in many different styles of RP, and tend to switch how I write depending on the others around me and/or the particular character for which I'm writing.

I actually am an aspiring novelist, with two first draft novels under my belt (and unfortunately an inner critic that's a demon deciding to continually tell me I should rewrite huge sections after I did start rewriting...so I might as well call one of the novels a first draft six times over.) Anyways, I like to write fantasy - though more the alternative/modern type that deals with superpowers and/or supernatural stuff over high/true fantasy of medieval settings and magic and stuff *but I do write for that stuff too* - as well as spy fiction, modern speculative fiction *pretty much the super powers/supernatural justified by science instead of nature*, mixing in sub-genre 'dark' for a lot of it all.
I will say I did start off writing outside of RPs as a short story writer focused in horror. A teacher once said I had the potential to be the next Stephen King. No offense to Mr. King, but I don't want to be the next anyone, so I turned to more novel based stuff.

At any rate, that's mostly what I go for in an RP as well - genres I'm comfortable writing for - though I have been opening up to romance stuff more and more over the past two years after being kind of - very - apprehensive to it. I do dabble in fandom RPs, but I'm also apprehensive about that as well; wary after seeing so many story canons tossed to the wind for the sake of an RP and sometimes just because people don't want to do something as simple as wiki check information to be in a fandom RP for a story/series they haven't read.

Okay, so I'm going to spare you guys any more rambling and further unnecessary information sharing at my hands. Unless you want me to. That's really up to you.

At any rate, so yeah. I'm not really sure where else to go from here. Any of the veterans here (which I classify as anyone with more time than myself here) have suggestions/recommendations?

(Yeah, if you couldn't tell....the SN is actually more a nickname I was given by a group of online friends. Sorry for making your eyeballs bleed.)
