Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

If I might put in a thought (I'm working on my sheets right now), but I do know a fencing instructor and technically unless he's transporting his fencing sword to a tournament, there's really no reason for him to have it with him at all. *And some states, it's illegal to transport a fencing sword without proof of qualification (i.e. instructor status) 'cause my friend totally almost got arrested when he was pulled over for a broken taillight and the trooper saw his sword in the back seat.*
So, just a thought - might want to give a reason for him to have his sword with him if it's going to disappear on him. Because - I mean - there's tones of reasons why a fencing instructor wouldn't have a fencing sword on him; there's really only a handful (<5) for him to have it on him.
And fencing swords are much different from katanas which are different from blah and so on. So really saying a sword of any kind is kind of a stretch.

(I am kind of a huge sword enthusiast and do sword play myself *I say play because it is not professional in any way*.)

Oh, hey, so I had a question. My guy smokes - would it be okay if I considered his lighter the tool and his smokes his personal item?

Seven of divine blood will be called,
The light of the gods will soon fall,
The cruelty of kindness must be overcome,
Or else the changing dove will be undone.
Gentle war must roar,
Or else Olympus will be no more.
The unclaimed child will stare deeply into darkness
Child of Light, to yourself be true,
But you must decide which means most to you.
Or ruin shall befall the final conquest

The action of war could help or hinder,
The effect of one could change the fate.
A sleepless child shall soon be put to the test,
by the war gods hand shall he find rest.
[Insert more about the specific Demigods, once everyone has accepted characters, they can help add lines to prophecy before we begin]
Only the light of the Symbols may save the world from the falling darkness.

Hey, I'd hate to nitpick, but I think you split one couplet with another.

Instead of:
The unclaimed child will stare deeply into darkness
Child of Light, to yourself be true,
But you must decide which means most to you.
Or ruin shall befall the final conquest

it should be:

The unclaimed child will stare deeply into darkness
Or ruin shall befall the final conquest.
Child of Light, to yourself be true,
But you must decide which means most to you.

*edit* Bah! You unclaimed ninja!
The two great prophecies didn't have one couplet per kid involved...
I plan on it. didn't want to rush him through though. Shoulf I wait for one more post before I get wayne there? (Sorry for misspellings. On my mobile.)
Name: Riley McKenna
Age: 14
Class 1: English
Class 2: Geology
Class 3: Algebra
Class 4: History
Class 5: Spanish
Class 6: Art
Class 7: Physical Education
Appearance:
She never wears shirts with sleeves shorter than the elbow, or any kind of backless shirt; always wears pants or ankle length skirts. This is to cover up massive scarring on her back and left arm, though she was lucky it didn’t extend up her neck. Even for gym she wears sweats or track pants and some longer sleeved shirt or jacket to cover up a short sleeved shirt.
Personality: Kind-hearted, Riley may not always want to talk but she will if someone strikes up a conversation. She’s always looking for something to draw or paint, and often carries a sketchbook around to do so. Although she might not be very good at standing up for herself, she tries to step in on others behalf to at least keep someone from picking on them. She’s the kind of person that generally has paint on their clothes or skin and doesn’t know it - not really caring about what people think of her aside from the deep seeded fear of being pitied or picked on for the scars she keeps covered.
Clubs: Art Club, Stage Crew for Drama club.
Other: She was in a fire when she was seven, and is scarred physically from it though she has gotten over the mental/emotional scars the fire brought (since she lost her 14 month old brother in it as well.)

Name: Paige Whedon
Age: 14
Class 1: Physical Education
Class 2: Biology
Class 3: English
Class 4: Choir
Class 5: Home Economics
Class 6: History
Class 7: Algebra
Appearance:
Personality: She’s a nice girl that likes to socialize. Generally in a good mood, she likes to laugh but never at someone’s expense. She loves to practice various voices and sometimes will carry on a conversation with someone in this different accent/voice.
Clubs. Equestrian Club, Drama, Choir
Other: Her family owns/runs a horse ranch that specializes in using horseback riding to help mentally handicapped children/adults.

Name: Mike Dragon
Age: 15
Class 1: German
Class 2: Astrology
Class 3: Physical Education
Class 4: History
Class 5: Industrial Tech
Class 6: English
Class 7: Algebra
Appearance: He occasionally shows up with bruises, which he says are from doing some stupid stunt at a park.
Personality: He’s a goofy kid. He hates taking things seriously and is one of those kids that would rather stay to the back of the class instead of in the front. He likes to be active and has trouble sitting still for long periods of time. He’s also that kid that falls asleep in class, constantly in trouble for it, or sometimes skips classes/school all together; it’s not that he’s a delinquent, but it’d be hell trying to get the reason why out of him. He likes pushing himself physically too - climbing stuff he shouldn't, doing weird tricks on his skateboard, or just goofing off at the park.
Clubs: Soccer, Basketball, Lacrosse (Fall, Winter, Spring respectively)
Other: He’s got a rough home-life and spends more time taking off to sleep on a park bench for the night or sneak into his best friend’s house than actually being at home. He refuses to tell anyone except his best friend this, so he keeps getting on thin ice with coaches and detention - which makes more trouble for him at home.

Okay, that seems fair enough and you answered the question. As long as you're cool with it, that should work out okay.I have a feeling her and Zula will be good friends, or at least, rivals because they share some similar traits. You have any suggestions for your prophecy lines?

If there was a rivalry, I doubt Ariel would notice it. She doesn't pick up on social nuances like that. Camp's the first time she ever actually had friends or really got to interact with people. ;)

I'll have to think on the lines for the prophecy. I'm on my way to bed now, so I'll get back to you when I get home tomorrow.

How is she going to survive? Do you plan on having her hide or be forced to fight to survive? We will be encountering monsters one the journey, so she might have to fight. Pacifism doesn't work for a demigod, considering that they have to fight monsters all day every day on their own. Plus, it might get kinda boring sitting back and watching.

Well, that's kinda why it's a fatal flaw. Plus, she does have that healing stuff - that she can heal others and her own injuries heal at an accelerated rate. Besides, her role is a healer, not a fighter, and it's best that a healer doesn't get in the way of combat.
And they don't fight monsters all day every day on their own even in the series. Some go the entire school year without ever encountering monsters between camp sessions and it's indicated in the series that it's possible that a demi-god may never get attacked by monsters if they go unclaimed (and before you say it, she wasn't claimed until she got to camp) and some can go years without attack even if claimed.
I RP a pacifist in a LARP that is high combat - it's not boring if your mindset is for it, and in an RP I have never had a problem with such a thing. If you're insistent that I have a character that fights, then I'll have to come up with a different character rather than butcher her for the sake of making a combative character. I haven't had a problem with her in any other CHB RP I have used her in even going out on a quest with her (yes with tons of monsters.)
I'll get my sheets in sometime tomorrow *after I get home from work and have had time to talk with Bee*.
Name: Ariel Guinevere Holmes
Age: 15
Gender: Female

Appearance: Ariel has the slender body of a dancer and moves with almost supernatural grace. She stands about five foot six - and still growing - and although thin with slight curves and small bust. Although attractive, she doesn't play it up - almost as if she doesn't realize she is and prefers wearing no makeup, or will wear just enough to accentuate her bright blue eyes (often noted as the same color as the Caribbean Sea) and perfect lips if she must wear make up - and wears sundresses or peasant skirts and peasant/tank tops that help accentuate her femininity. Her black hair cascades in gentle layered waves down to roughly her mid-back. She is just tanned enough to make her creamy complexion show that she does spend time outside, but not enough to give her noticeable tan lines or a dark complexion to contrast with her soft features. She prefers to wear blues, white, and muted purples.

Godly Parent: Apollo

Personality: She's probably about the sweetest person you could come across, tends to be almost sickeningly upbeat about nearly everything, and can almost always find the good in a situation or person. She doesn't like seeing anyone upset and will go out of her way to make sure everyone around her is happy. She doesn't like being sad, or upset, and usually bounces back quickly from any situation that makes her either. It is extremely difficult to make her angry, and even then she usually bounces back quickly. She's quick to consider someone a friend, and would even go out of her way to help a stranger cheer up just so she could see something good happen for another person.
Thanks to a bit of an isolated childhood, she is extremely naive, and makes her easy to manipulate due to her trusting nature - since she would rather assume everyone means well rather than acknowledge that some people just want to hurt others because it's fun. She doesn’t like to lie to others, finding it upsets her health and perpetuates negative atmospheres; lying in general is distressing to her, and she cannot assist by being around someone lying if she knows that’s what someone is doing.
Pacifist to a fault, she can’t stand to watch even a sparring match and has continually refused to learn even the most basic of combat training or even hold a weapon. She can often be found dancing and singing (or at least humming) around camp if by herself. Waking up with the sun, she is usually very energetic throughout the day, and only fading in energy with the setting of the sun. Loving to make new friends, she likes to help greet new campers and spends much of her time caring for the injured in the infirmary.

History: Her parents always wanted a child, but her mother found out she was infertile, the stress of the knowledge (because she decided not to inform her husband) brought her to start going to bars for one-night stands. Several weeks after one of these one-nighters, she discovered she was pregnant, and nine months of slowly failing health later - Ariel was born. Her father was never the wiser of her mother’s adulterous ways, as the instant Ariel took her first breath, her mother took her last. In the wake of this tragedy, her father swore he’d never let anything happen to Ariel - homeschooling her, continually moving her once Ariel started to branch out and make roots in a town.
She never knew there was anything special about her aside from her father’s overprotective ways, until her father grew sick - cancer. He was admitted to the hospital when his weakened immune system welcomed pneumonia, and she refused to leave his side. As his system got weaker, and she became unwilling to let him part from her, her healing touch flourished from dormancy when she prayed for a way to save his life, and it chased away not only the pneumonia but the cancer as well.
A week later, after the hospital’s numerous tests to figure out what happened with her father all came back without results or completely normal, a man appeared at the door. He discussed the situation with her father - with Ariel sneaking into earshot - and recommended the camp. She begged and pleaded until her father agreed.

Powers:
- She has the ability to heal others if she touches them and concentrates; this can be as little as healing a scraped knee, or - in the more extreme - healing someone that is on the brink of death. The more effort she needs to concentrate, the more of her life energy she puts into the healing.
- Her own body can heal, though it only rebounds from minor injuries, healing at a slightly accelerated rate from major ones (example: takes several days to recover from a broken bone instead of weeks/months); her accelerated healing requires a lot of sun exposure.
- Extremely talented at singing and playing string instruments; naturally capable of playing any stringed instrument she picks up, but her strongest instrument is actually a violin and harp.
- Although she has a gift for the written word, she is great at writing poems.

Skills:
- She’s a gifted artist, particularly with drawing.
- Extremely intelligent, most believed she was actually an Athenian until she was claimed by Apollo.
- She is fluent in Italian and French.
- Skilled at dancing, she is great at ballet.
- Although she had limited medical training before camp, she is extremely book smart on the subject and has proven extreme proficiency with treating others.

Likes: Singing, dancing, being around people, helping others, making friends, taking care of others, learning/expanding her knowledge, drawing, playing her violin, smiling, and writing poems and stories. Although she loves sunny days the most (and thus being outside somewhere she can be in the sunlight), she likes all kinds of weather. The color blue is her favorite color.

Dislikes: Bullies, fighting, people being mean, lies, seeing people upset/sad, negativity

Weaknesses: Incapable of lying, she always tells the truth - and her naive side keeps her from seeing the problem in that. Though her more fatal flaw is her utter pacifism.

Other: She brought a violin and sketch pad with her to camp. Her mortal father keeps up the pattern they had before she started camp of continually moving around the country - but now more for her protection from monsters than to shelter her like before.
She's a vegetarian - and would end up being a vegan if not for the knowledge that chickens lay eggs whether they are fertilized by a rooster or not, and only consumes dairy if she knows the farm doesn't use hormones to keep the cow producing milk.
Alrighty. Just wanted to check. I get curious about things and then it eats at me until I ask. =)

I had a thought for a Hades kid (from an RP from a different site taking place after the first series) and her destiny is kind of to end up a Huntress.

But I'm still considering my other characters.

This is not me reserving Hades, so if someone else wants Hades, feel free to take him.

*Edit*

I've decided on a daughter of Apollo. I'll get a sheet together shortly.
