Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

Well that sucks, but maybe we could just allow for Jorge to be off by himself until you can pop back in if you're interested in that (and if Irisity is okay with it.)

At any rate, considering that - Eveekitten, if you're still around and such, let me know and I'll just move Harper over to Tristan.

Name: Tala Warren
Age: 28
Gender: female
Occupation: Detective in RPIT

Type of Lycanthrope: Werewolf - second in command of Blue Rose Pard - Ulfric *leader* of the wolves within the Pard, honorary member of the Wind Racer Clan (local werewolves)
Are you an alpha? Yes
If yes - what alpha abilities do you have? Resist Transforming, Partial Shape Shifting, Hold a Vampire’s Gaze, Command Animals, Suppress Aura
Additionally - she can resist, and even interrupt, the call of a vampire and does so to help the Wind Racer Clan as well as her own wolves. She has enough control over her beast and enough power that she does not need to feed immediately after changing into a wolf, nor does she need to sleep after reverting back into a human but is simply tired afterward.
How did you become a lycanthrope? Survived an attack
Are you in the closet about being a lycanthrope? Partially - she does not spread the word, but those she works with know she is a lycanthrope

Physical Description: Human form - Extremely curly, dark grey verging on black colored, hair cascades down to about mid-back, which she usually wears up in a high ponytail to try to keep it out of her face - though a few strands curl down next to her almond shaped, amber colored eyes. She has a lithe body - not exactly petite, but slender like someone who works out regularly. Her skin is a soft almost mocha color - like the color of coffee with a decent amount of cream to it. She's average height - about 5'6 - and is attractive, though she downplays it while at work - preferring to just be pretty without makeup rather than attractive with make up. She wears a gold cross and a set of dog tags on the same chain - both of which belonged to her father - at all times.
She may not have tiny fangs instead of canines like some others that spent more time in animal form than human, and she does have a bit of a gravelly/growling tone to her voice if she doesn't pay attention to it - most times it sounds like a voice perfect for phone sex.
Animal form - Gray wolf

Biggest Fear: being kicked off the force for being a lycanthrope/being discriminated against for being a lycanthrope
Greatest Accomplishment: becoming a detective for the RPIT
Any strange eccentricities? twirls her hair around while she fills out paperwork/reads through something, thinks out loud - usually when she's trying to figure something out for a case
Any Bad Habits? drums her fingers on her desk when she's thinking, will put the bottom of pens in her mouth if she is thinking (combined with hair twirling)

Brief History: Tala grew up the oldest of three children in a biracial home - her father is Caucasian, her mother is African American. She always looked up to her father, who was a cop for most of his life. One day, while he was on a case, he was attacked by a lycanthrope - who he killed in self-defense. He survived the attack, only to transform into a lycanthrope the next month. No one was prepared for this occurrence, and nine year old Tala was the only one out of the others of her family to survive the attack; while she was in the hospital recovering, he turned himself in and was executed immediately.
For a long time, she feared her beast, and disappeared from the lycanthrope foster family that took her in after the attack. After years of being thought a runaway, she returned with others that had been abducted - no longer in fear of her beast and with a great level of control over it. She was adopted by her best friend’s family and finished her GED there. It was difficult, but she managed to keep her secret all through the police academy and even after passing the detective exam by the age of 24; ever since receiving her badge, she worked for RPIT. Two years ago, they had a run in with a rogue vampire that injured her and she came out to her partner before he could help stop the bleeding; word spread around the department, and enough higher ups found out and she has been passed over four times for promotions now, unless she were to sue and reveal to the entire force what she is.

Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you on this. I've been super brain dead working extended hours at my job this past week and it has really messed with my internal clock.

So, there is a power like that in the universe - touch clairvoyance. There is a draw back to that ability, which is that the power cannot be turned off; this can lead to psychosis being developed. Most touch clairvoyance have an issue with touching objects others have touched, but the fact they cannot choose when to use their ability can be corrected through the use of special gloves. I can provide more information, but what you've said is about on par with how it is for the universe with the added 'all the time' deal.
Hopefully that won't be too much of an issue for you developing the character.

Also, it's completely fine that you make up and submit the two different characters as a just in case scenario. Since I will only allow the one, and if no one else submits a character like either of yours, then we'll just go with which ever you would like to play most.

I don't know if this will change your decision to create a werewolf character, but my character is the officially outted lycanthrope - and she is a werewolf. I wanted to let you know that in case you would rather not play a werewolf as well, though there's no reason multiple werewolves will not be allowed. I'll be posting her sheet up soon (within the next twelve hours), if you were hoping to see her info before diving in.

Again, sorry for the several day delay in the response. Hopefully things will settle for me soon and I won't go so long without responding.
I don't think Bee will be around much this weekend, busy with life stuff. Once she's back and able to post, then I'll be able to post.
Honestly, I'm not going to post again until boredbrain does. It's actually really discouraging to me when a mod encourages the rest of the group to post when they won't post for their own character.

I wasn't around last night anyways. Or most of the night before so no worries on Harper's end.

The smile spread back wider onto Harper's face. She loved showing off the awesome props other people made. "Oh, awesome. This guy is a genius with making props. I don't know how we'll get by next year without him," she said as she stood up. Her backpack slung onto her as she started moving out of the aisle. Sure, no one was supposed to see the thing aside from cast and crew, but she doubted Jorge would go telling anyone about the prop before its debut.

She had made it down to the stage when the door to the auditorium slammed open. Stopping, she partially turned to look at the door. Initially it was just a habit, but then she realized it was one of her friends. She had half a mind to just go say hi later after showing Jorge the prop, but then the poor girl's book bag tore and everything seemed to just fall to the floor. The smile completely left her face and a sigh pressed her shoulders down. It would just make her a horrible person if she didn't go over and try to cheer up Tristan.

Looking over at Jorge, she offered him the tiniest smile. "Hey, so I gotta go check on her. Sounds like she's having a bad day. Um, rain check for the prop?" As soon as the term rain check came out of her, the smile grew a bit - pinching to show tiny dimples as she fought back the bit of rouge trying to coat her cheeks - and she nervously tucked at her bangs. "That's probably a bad term. Uh, later - that's a better one. Yeah, would you like to see it later, if you're still interested in it?" She didn't want to ask him along to check out her friend; that would have been awkward for Jorge and Tristan, she assumed. It wouldn't have been right to ask that of anyone, particularly someone that she just met.

Jorge may have been trying to dismiss it, but it still didn't mean he was actually okay with it. Harper decided she would be sure to make Walker apologize in person for the trouble caused. It was the least he could do, really. Especially if he was trying to be friends. Friends didn't just let other friends take the blame and not make it up to the person.

Harper stopped when Jorge did, looking up at him. His face betrayed his thoughts and she almost thought he wasn't going to answer. She looked back straight ahead when he seemed to come out of his head. It would have been fine if he decided not to answer, but she was glad he did. When he started walking, she did as well. She didn't want to end up alone again because he wandered off on her. Looking up, she watched him talk again. She never really noticed how few minorities were in the school until his statement really made her think about it; after all, she was raised to not really notice things like skin color.

Following him into the aisle, simply because she hadn't even noticed she was still, she took a seat one over from where he sat. After all, in the hall he had kept a little distance. If it was Walker or any other friend she hadn't just met, then she wouldn't have left that seat between them, but she didn't want to crowd up on him and make the guy uncomfortable just because she was afraid of being trapped in the school and if they lost power and all those other ifs. She glanced at the stage once she set her bag down on the chair beside her. "The set? Well, I was working on it - but I only do painting when I get a chance. Stage crew have been doing a great job with it though. They even figured out how to make it turn so we can use it for the town and the castle." She looked over at Jorge. "You know we're doing Beauty and the Beast as the upcoming play, right? It's really amazing the design work getting put into it. Aside from the spinning sets, the props are just amazing right now. One of the tech-heads even made a magic mirror that lights up and it looks amazing, way better than that plastic toy they used to sell back in the nineties."

She sat up a bit straighter and looked at Jorge more. "Oh, hey, did you want to see it? The director has us using the prop during the rehearsals recently, so I could show you how it works and such." She blinked, shrinking back down a little bit. It was mostly realizing how enthused she sounded. "If you want, that is."

Harper fought the smile that twitched to grow higher on her face at the raised than being lowered and light flush. It was cute to see a guy flustered, not that she meant to make him flustered - and only assumed she had given off a wrong signal with knocking hair out of her face - but still...It brought her smile back after she was done talking. Especially since he was willing to at least hang out with her. That made this whole potentially getting trapped in school thing a bit better. Aside from hanging out with a cute guy, she at least was going to be able to be around someone and not feel so stranded for a snow storm. It didn't make the chill in her gut go away any, but at least it raised her spirits a bit.

That is, until, he mentioned special favor and Walker in the same sentence. The smile fell slightly and her mouth gaped just a tad. "Oh, oh that was you? Oh man, he felt so bad about that when he heard. He'd never mean for anyone to get detention for him." But if he said Walker wasn't in detention...did that mean he skipped and went home? She tried not to let that thought bring her down. As much as she wanted one of her best friends around her if she was going to be stuck somewhere for a night and it wasn't home with her dad, she supposed finding someone else willing to hang out was a good trade off.

The smile came back to her face when he apologized for rambling. "That's okay," she said. Turning, she moved to follow along with him. After all, Jorge did say he was okay with them hanging out. "So, please don't take this the wrong way, but you're new right? How are you liking it here? Walker accidentally getting you detention not withstanding." After all, if they were going to hang out together, maybe there was a way she could turn this into more than just a 'we're stuck in the school together and may be the only ones here' friendships.

It took Harper a moment before she finally spotted the boy. If she had been a few seconds longer to get out of the auditorium, she probably would have been shouting to an empty hall. She supposed she had partially expected to be shouting to an empty hall, but luck had it he had stopped. Thank goodness she wasn't going to have to wander the halls alone. Hopefully. That was if he wasn't one of those kids that did his best to ditch hanging out with people.

She started toward the new boy, not caring that he hadn't started approaching for the moment. When he did finally start her way, she stopped a step before he did. A hand reached up and brushed the bangs from her face when they had fallen into it. "Hey," she replied with a soft sigh of relief. "So, I know we don't know each other or anything - I'm Harper, by the way - but, and feel free to say no to this because of that, but so, I was wondering if you'd at least, like, hang out with me?" Hopefully that didn't come off too desperate for company. She wasn't willing to admit being afraid as a reason for wanting to be around someone - much less a cute someone - so she just moved on to the next thing. "Also, do you maybe know if detention happened today?" Because at worst case she at least would know if Walker should be around here somewhere.
