So, I'm on some sort of official and consistent schedule now. Which is nice, unless life decides to screw it up for me.

Bio

What's up, Rawk Flawk and visitors alike!

I... am the Master Gamer, rawkhawk64. This also happens to be one of my internet hidey-holes. I enjoy all manner of Roleplays, usually fantasy or sci-fi settings. I also do fandoms. I'll usually check out any Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, or Pokemon RP's. I'll also check out other fandoms I like, but those usually have to be done well.

As for what I do outside the Guild, the big one is streams. You can catch me at twitch.tv/rawkhawk64.

Hope to have fun RP'ing with you!

I'm trying to translate game mechanics to an RP like this. Never really tried this before, but I'd like to think I've done a decent job of it.

GENERAL

Name: Giovanni "Gio" De Luca

Age: 22

Alias: The Silent

Tier: 3

Years Spent in SYNBAD: 5 years

Appearance

Most people would describe him as average. Average height, average build, average-looking face. In terms of appearance, that suits him just fine. When dressing casually, he tends to stick to t-shirts (mostly ones themed around cards), and blue jeans. He wears sneakers, and the occasional ball cap.

When out and about on official SYNBAD business, Giovanni dons the simple outfit of The Silent. A green cloak covers most of his body. His head remains uncovered, but he wears a huge animal skull over it, with the spine trailing down to the ground. This simple look is rather intimidating. He also wears bandages around his forearms.

Personality: Giovanni is a rather kind and open person. He likes making friends, and especially loves making others laugh. He can kind of come off as a bit of a comedian and a goofball, even if his humor shifts between normal, morbid, and sarcastic. However, when people get to know him, they'll see that he tends to be a bit of a realist, not having any idealistic tendencies about his expectations. He would rather not sugar-coat the truth of matters, even if the truth could traumatize someone. After all, fighting to survive in the wild for 10 years will do that to a person. It is because of his hardships that he would rather see everyone laugh. After all, laughter is the best medicine, is it not?

When it comes to interests is where most people see the most interesting face of Giovanni. After joining SYNBAD, he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. In conversations, he has issues picking up on body language, and will also be unable to control how loud he is at times. The best way to describe his social life is "active, but odd". He will occasionally go into a long-winded and one-sided speech on certain topics of given the chance.

Skills:
Quick Learner- Due to the unusal trait of his powers and his past, Gio is a quick learner, absorbing new concepts almost like a sponge takes in water.

Strategist- Gio is a very good strategist, capable of forming both long- and short-term plans. On top of that, he has learned to adapt his plans on the fly.

Improvisation- As stated before, Gio is able to improvise on-the-spot. This allows him to formulate loose plans that can accomdate for a variety of situations. However, extremely unexpected circumstances can catch him off-guard.

Hobbies:

Card Games- Perhaps as a direct side-effect of his power, Gio certainly loves card games. He especially loves TCG's, as they remind him of his own ability. He avidly plays, and attends tournaments when off-duty.

Reading- Gio loves books. Especially fantasy books. He is usually seen with a book in his hand when not on a mission.

COMBAT INFORMATION

Weapon: A simple dagger. It was gifted to him by his dad before he was killed by a pack of wolves. It seems to be magical, capable of channeling his powers into it.

Equipment:
Deck of Cards- A set of cards that Gio always carries on his person. These cards are special, in that they are magical. They can grant him special abilities.

Deck Box- A holster that contains a simple, but durable, leather box for his cards. It has two sections, for the Draw Pile and the Discard Pile.

Relics- Rare and powerful magical artifacts that grant Gio permanent abilities. These effects are usually good, but can occasionally be detrimental.

Relic Bag- A simple bag that holds his Relics.

Potions- Potions that he can occasionally find. These either give him buffs, or give his foes debuffs. One-time use only.

Potion Pouch- A pouch for holding his Potions. Can carry a max of 3.

Fighting Style
Gio's fighting style is reliant on what cards he draws. If he draws no attack cards, he cannot attack for a while [that current post]. If he draws no defense cards, he cannot block any incoming attacks.

Strength- His strength is limited at peak human level, although he has not attained that yet. However, he is certainly above the average when it comes to his strength.

Endurance- His ability to take a hit is quite surprising, given his stature. He can take most blows and come out just fine. However, he has nothing special granting him any particular armor or immunity (outside of his cards) to really strong people, or to weapons.

Willpower- 10 years of fending for himself in the wilderness has granted him an amazing ability to carry on despite the odds. When even his strength failed him, he kept going out of sheer determination and willpower. This has also granted him a resistance to mind-control. His mind is strong, and won't back down easily.

Speed- His worst physical trait. He barely ekes out average speed at best. While he has decent stamina, he won't be winning any running contests.

Reaction Speed- Thanks to having to think quickly on his feet, Gio has a rather respectable reaction speed. While the average person reacts to a visual stimulus in .25 seconds, he takes only about .15 seconds.

ABILITY INFORMATION

Name of Ability: Luck of the Draw

Classs: Magic- Card Magic (Relics and Potions are Magic- Equipment Usage)

Character Theme: Giovanni's first act is to always draw cards. From there, he begins to formulate strategies based on what he has drawn. This can range from an all-out offensive, to a purely defensive set of actions.

Ability Capabilities: With Luck of the Draw, Giovanni is capable of gaining several unique skills from his cards, Relics, and Potions. These abilities can be both beneficial and detrimental to him, or a mix of both.

Qualities of Ability-
  • Gio is able to draw cards to use their effects in combat. This drawing action cannot be interrupted (except by card effects), and he doesn't even have to physically hold these cards.
  • He can gain or upgrade cards by overcoming particularly tough trials, although he cannot exceed his maximum deck size.
  • Deck Size can be increased after extreme hardships. In lieu of gaining new cards, Giovanni can also potentially gain a new Relic, which gives him passive abilities (good or bad).
  • If he's lucky, minor trials may net him a Potion for his use.
  • He draws 5 cards at a time, unless a card, Relic, or Potion lets him do otherwise
  • Cards that he plays or discards go to his Discard Pile.
  • When choosing cards, three random cards are selected. He can then choose to select one of them to add to his hand. Or, he can choose to not add any at all.

Strengths of Ability-
  • His ability is very versatile, and can be used to great effect when the right card combinations are drawn. Relics can also grant him various boons, and Potions are great for sticky situations.
  • He never runs out of cards. When his Draw Pile is empty, all the cards in his Discard Pile are shuffled back into his Draw Pile and cycle through again.
  • His Cards can be upgraded. This allows them to either deal more damage, block more damage, grant more of an effect, or even cost less.

Weaknesses of Ability-
  • His ability is completely random. He could draw exactly what he needs, or he could draw something he doesn't need.
  • Some of his cards have certain keywords that make them situational. For example, Unplayable cards can't be played from his hand at all.
  • Cards with the Exhaust keyword disappear for the rest of combat once played. Cards that are Ethereal disappear for the rest of combat if they aren't played.
  • He can gain cards and Relics with negative effects. These are permanent, and cannot be removed.

Limitations of Ability
  • The number of cards he can play is limited by his maximum Energy. If he runs out of Energy, he cannot play any more cards (except 0-cost cards), and must Discard the rest of his hand.
  • What actions he can and cannot do (mostly attacking and blocking) are solely dependent on what cards he plays.

As a future member of this RP, I give my word that I will commit to this RP and be present to the best of my ability. I will keep communication with the GM open via Discord, and post if I must be away for an extended period of time.

(I'm really awful at formal stuff [horray for Asperger's], so I hope that's enough)
Well, my next post is gonna see Brutus light the Demoness up for a bit with his Flashfield. If needed, I can hold off on it for a sweet tag team if needed. After that, I dunno. Yuuto is gonna be running lower on Void Energy the longer the fight goes, though if he gets a break it'll recharge quick enough.
I'm trying to translate game mechanics to an RP like this. Never really tried this before, but I'd like to think I've done a decent job of it.

Sounds interesting. How would a character who uses cards as an ability fit in? I've been playing a lot of Slay the Spire, and would love to adapt it to an RP if I can.
Yuuto

@Gentlemanvaultboy @6slyboy6 @killamriX88 @RoflsMazoy

As the ninja watched, Clara proposed an alliance between herself, King, and Alto. An interesting development, but what interested Yuuto even more was what waited the three (four) on the top of the building. A full-blown Demoness. Something was up here. Perhaps that was why King was here? Yuuto didn't know, but what he did know was that he should try to remain hidden. So, as the three advanced, he waited beneath the stairs, re-emerging form the Void once the fighting started, so as to regain energy. After he heard an impact of metal, however, he quickly made his way to the roof via some creative wall-walking. As he emerged, he saw the form of Bak laying in front of him.

"Bak-san, is assistance required? You look like turtle stuck on back." Whatever else the ninja was going to say, he didn't get the chance. One of the copies (not that Yuuto knew they were mere facsimilies) had started to rush right at them, perhaps seeing an opportunity for two easy kills with the machine girl down, and the unassuming boy next to her. The copy smirked, thrusting her hand out. However, Yuuto held a hand out at the demoness in response. "You will not be harming Bak-san today, monster. Have taste of Void power." With that, Yuuto let loose a Void Beam, managing to catch the demoness right in the chest. In a spectacular collision that sent several sparks of harmless gray Void energy shooting across the roof, the Demoness was thrown back, landing near Thobias and Rurik.

"Void Wisdom say: 'Never underestimate foe. Foe who is underestimated may show true fangs, like cornered animal.' So is proven here." Yuuto intoned, intending on keeping Bak protected until she could get herself back into the fight.

Brutus

@Gentlemanvaultboy @Bartimaeus @RoflsMazoy

Whatever Brutus had been expecting when he finally recovered and made it to the top... well, whatever it was, it certainly wasn't this. Brutus quickly circled around a... wait, was that a ninja!? Like, an honest-to-gods ninja? Nevermind. He quickly found Aram and Nasaraph, and it looked like they were in the company of a St. Laurel's student. Brutus dodged a gout of fire, quickly rolling into the fort that had somehow appeared. He glanced around.

"Huh. It appears as if your power is more interesting than I first thought." Brutus said to Aram. Well, that was an understatement. Never had the electricity wielder ever seen anyone just... create a fortress in as little time as this had probably taken. "Not sure how useful I'll be. I can try tagging them from here, but I dunno if they're too high-level to be tagged."

With those words, Brutus made his way to one of the windows, using the hole there to take aim at the Demoness fighting with King. He then shot out one of his tags, hoping to feel the connection that'd allow him to light the otherworldy entity up like a Christmas tree.
Brutus

Brutus had quickly followed the text King had sent, being careful to not drop the poor student in his arms. He wordlessly handed the student to Alto's driver, before hopping back up the fire escape. He quickly decided to try and make his way further up. It was while he was on the fourth floor that he got ambushed by several imps that were dumb enough to drag him into one of the rooms. Around 15 or so of the little annoyances crowded him. Brutus smirked. "You buggers really aren't that smart, are you? Don't you know to never play with electricity?"

Brutus knew that the imps couldn't hear him. However, he always did enjoy a good one-liner every now and then. Shortly after finishing his sentence, his body sparked madly with electricity. With a bit of focus, he expelled it from his body. The result was a crackling sphere of bright blue electricity. Unfortunately for them, all of the imps were within range of the attack, screeching out in pain as electricity coursed through their bodies. After 15 seconds, Brutus dropped the attack, stumbling out of the room and sitting against a wall in the hallway. Using that move always seemed to drain him more than any of his other abilities. Seems like he'd be stuck sitting this one out for a bit.

Yuuto

As Clara spoke to him after King's departure, Yuuto emerged from the Void. It wouldn't do to run out of Void Energy and then need to defend himself. So, for the next couple of floors, he stayed in the open, watching Clara's back. Whatever her goals were, Yuuto didn't know. What he did know was that the daughter of Mephisto was certainly up to something that his client might be interested in. However, it was on the sixth floor that Yuuto heard a noise from behind them. "Clara-san, someone approaches from the rear." With that, he vanished back into the Void once more as Alto rounded the stairs. Yuuto watched the exchange with a mix of interest and curiosity. It seems that Alto's arrival had altered Clara's plans. 'Perhaps Mephisto-dono might be interested. However, let us see end result first. Like cat waiting for mouse, I must be patient.' Yuuto thought.

However, King's haphazard arrival drove all thoughts out of his head, as he silently steeled himself. King was the only one that Yuuto was worried about sensing his location. Still, it wouldn't do to just reveal himself yet. Instead, Yuuto slowly attached himself to the wall, and waited.
Yuuto

The ninja merely observed as Bak jumped in surprise at his entrance, before proceeding to hand him the unconscious student. He nodded in understanding. He quickly ducked out of the room the same way he came in, hoping to deliver the package before the St. Laurel's student could intercept. Once outside the room, it was easy for him to sneak up behind the Vigilantes, especially after two of them haphazardly jumped into a hole in the floor. He snuck up behind the remaining Vig, and dropped the body. As it hit the floor, he disappeared into the Void, walking away and following Clara. Perhaps it was time he focused on his primary objective...

Brutus

As Brutus watched, Aram and Nasaraph both headed down below to help Michael. Brutus was considering following, then decided to stay up here and assist if possible. While he was trying to line up a shot for a tag, the fight below seemed to end as abruptly as it started. Before Brutus could make any further moves, he heard a thud behind him. He whirled around, his arm held up and crackling with electricity. There, in front of him, was another student. Brutus quickly stopped his sparking, and picked up the hapless student. He then turned to where King had disappeared, and walked into the room. He shouted down.

"King! We got another one. Just seemed to appear out of thin air!"
Brutus

Brutus was staring at Vittorio. How could one person become so... hopeless? It was the only word that Brutus could use to describe the shell of a man in front of him. Fortunately, Nasaraph had offered to fight the spectral being. Brutus' body had finally stopped crackling with nervous energy (quite literally). Brutus turned over to Aram. Before he could get any questions out, however...

CRRAAAAAACK!

A lound splintering noise from behind them caused electricity to jump all around Brutus' body. As he turned around, he could only stare. The floor behind them had just... disappeared. Sure, he'd heard rumbling and explosions from below, but he hadn't expected the building to literally fall apart! Perhaps it was Bak? Nah, he was sure he'd hear screaming if Bak had been the cause. Brutus inched slowly forward, peeking his head down the hole...

Yuuto

Yuuto managed to not quirk an eyebrow at Clara's statement, although it was a very near thing. Didn't people usually react to help with thankfulness? It was then that he remembered that Clara was the daughter of Mephisto. Still...

Yuuto's eyes glanced down the hall toward where Bak had been, before disappearing into a room. Yuuto decided to follow her. He stepped inside, noticing a mechanical whirring noise, followed by Bak taunting. Ah, it appeared that St. Laurel's was here. Perhaps this was why Clara and the Student Council were here? Ah, well.

Yuuto nodded to Clara. "I shall help others." While Yuuto was aware that he didn't need to get involved, it had been a while since he'd gotten to let loose. With that, he disappeared into the Void, walking to where Bak was. He found the mechanical girl very quickly. He popped back out, appearing next to Bak.

"Greetings, Bak-san. Am here to help. You need?" Yuuto glanced at the student slung across her backpack. It sure looked like she was in the middle of something.

@Gentlemanvaultboy
Yuuto stared at the missive, picked up discreetly. The request was simple. Too simple, really. Then again, it had been a while since Yuuto had taken a job. He had his schooling to worry about, after all. To be fair, the ninja didn't think Mephisto cared about such trivial things as schooling. Still, it didn't hurt to play it safe...

But why would Mephisto want a pair of eyes on his own daughter? Yuuto shook his head as he ripped the message into pieces, letting them loose into the wind to be scattered. It didn't do to ask questions, he'd been told. His only job was to do as the employer asked. As for the reward... Well, Yuuto was a simple kid of simple means. Perhaps just enough money to pay for some typical "teenager" stuff, in order to keep his cover better. After all, during school hours, he was simply a transfer student, and it wouldn't do to blow that cover. Few knew of his true purpose of being a glorified mercenary.

Shaking his head, Yuuto dipped into the Void so no one would see him run up the side of a building. Once on top, he emerged, and began to make his way to where he knew some of the Student Council had been heading. Along the way, he made sure that he'd grabbed all his equipment. Kunai? Check. Shuriken? Check. Senbon? Check. Tanto? Check. Collapsible bo staff? Check. The sword and staff were strapped across his back, and the rest were in a shuriken pouch tied to his right thigh. Good. He was ready.

Upon arriving at where he'd seen the others heading, he saw an abandoned apartment building. Just what would Clara be doing here? He quickly ducked behind a chimney as he saw a figure descend from the third floor. His well-trained eyes caught the unmistakable figure of King, as well as Alto. Hmm... this complicates matters. I must be sneaky, like cat on prowl. With that, he disappeared back into the warming embrace of the Void. Upon making his way to a different side, he put one foot on the wall, then another, and walked up. He saw a peek of Clara through a window on the third floor. Emerging from the Void, he hopped inside the window. There were a couple of creatures that screeched at him as soon as they saw him. Imps. Quickly, he whipped out two kunai, and threw them. The poor imps were speared through before they knew what hit them. They kunai pinned the buggers to the wall, each emitting a soft thud! While people with superpowers couldn't really be affected by his weapons (his tanto would only scratch a powered being), the weapons were nice and deadly to lesser demons. Yuuto quickly checked that the imps were dead before retrieving his kunai. He then stepped out the door, stepping just behind Clara.

"Ah. Erdrigan-san. I saw Student Council heading here. How can I help?" he asked, stowing away his kunai. At this point, he heard a loud crash behind them. His eyes flitted down the hall to where he assumed the conflict was. There, he saw a half-machine, half-human. Bak, if he recalled.
