Shina was knocked forward by the dragon who landed with a loud THUD on the ground, 'Well, I suppose that's one way to make an entrance!' she thought. As they all came through, she was met with a VERY different looking princess/soldier. She was dressed in what could only be described as a little girls maid dress! Shina felt bad for her, Minnow must have given her that ghastly uniform for the job.

'Wow, I mean, you look...um...well you look like a very well-dressed maid. Shina glided over to Minnow and whispered, 'Minnow, I don't think that's appropriate for a princess do you? Um also, can we borrow her for a mission pretty please? We're going to go on a quest to find Guan.'

As she looked over to Yoshina, she saw that quite a few of the inn's patrons were also looking...this was no way to treat royalty! 'HAVE SOME RESPECT EVERYONE! SHE IS A PRINCESS, SHE DESERVES YOUR RESPECT! Shina quickly grabbed a coat from the back on a patron's chair and handed it over to the princess, 'If you would like to, we would be very happy to have you join our quest. You may want to change into something more suitable though'

The dragon's earlier bellowing had also made everyone turn to look at them, most with a look of fear, some with intrigue...

'Um sorry for our disturbance. Our group are looking for anyone who would like to help us search for Guan. Some of you know it is not like him to be away for so long. If you are interested, please come and introduce yourself. But know that this mission may involve defending ourselves and even fighting, so you must be able to hold your own. We will wait for you outside the inn'

Shina turned to leave and a flashback of Guan came to her ...

Bandits

'OK Shina, remember what I taught you.' Guan shifted closer to her behind the group of bushes that had them well hidden.
'Yes yes i know! Breathe slowly and don't make any noise. Make sure your weapon is out ready, so you are not caught unawares.' Shina grew impatient, to her this was all too long, she just wanted to get into the fight and end it!
'Don't let them get a sniff of you. Always downwind.'
'YES YES I KNOW!' Shina angrily whispered. 'Can I go now?'
'Not yet....wait until his comrade leaves for his round....ok...NOW' Guan stepped back and allowed Shina to move forward throught the bushes.
She crept through the mess of thorns and leaves, scratching her face as she went. She blood felt like it was on fire! Her whole body was tingling with anticipation, the thrill of the kill!
She stepped out and suddenly.... 'SNAP!' Damn it a small branch she hadn't seen! The bandit turned in time to see Shina's arm raise with her sword. He growled and swung his sword up to meet hers with a clash.
'Ugh!' Shina couldn't hold back his sword and moved to her side, allowing it and her sword to hit the ground together. She rolled over but too slowly as the bandit had his sword above him, ready to strike. As he did, Shina closed her eyes, ready to accept her fate, when she heard a WHOOSH of air. Next thing she knows, the bandit is on top of her, with an arrow in the head!
'I told you to be more quiet!' Guan sauntered out of the bush, putting his spare arrow back in its quiver on his back and shoved the bandit off Shina with his foot.
'Ugh, I could have handled it on my own.' Shina was angry but more embarrassed at having to have help... yet again. She stood up and brushed herself down, blood splattered on her face.
'Hah well not if there were more than one. Speaking of which...here comes the cavalry...' Guan and Shina turned to see three more bandits coming. They got their sword and bow ready...
'OK Shina you take those two and i'll take one...deal?' Guan smiled at her, his dark green eyes shining with excitement
'Deal' Shina smiled back as they ran towards their enemy, as a team...as friends

Shina turned to Thaddeus as he agreed to accompany them, she instantly felt at ease with her long time friend coming along, not least because she still wasn't all that keen on it just being her and a dragon!

'Thank you Thaddeus, my friend. I appreciate that you are a busy man. Let's head to Minnow's then, shall we? Shina blushed a little at the thought of Thaddeus being worried enough to accompany them on this trip, then quickly shook the thought away. 'Need to keep a level head Shina', she thought.

So off they headed, back to poor Minnow's, a real weird look they would get, especially if the dragon remained her 'true' form.

Shina swung open the door to see Minnow speaking to Rudolph, she seemed to be even more angry than earlier in the morning. Yoshina was also still there; good, it would be super handy if either of these people could join their party. A powerful wizard, a princess who was also a soldier, yes, that would be very good indeed!

'Hi Minnow! Shina beamed, a completely different demeanour to her early anxious self, 'I wonder, if I can ask around to see if anyone would like to join our team for a rescue.... hmmm, hopefully not too much of a rescue, Shina thought ... '...quest, to find Guan! You know he hasn't been back to Lorenstad for many moons now, and that's just not like him. Your highness... Shina ran up to the princess and bowed 'I do hope it isn't too rude of me to ask if you would like to join us?

Shina was startled by the dragon's statement, perhaps she shouldn't have said anything. After all, she never brought others on her missions, unless it was Guan; and then that was him bringing her as his apprentice.

'Um i'm not sure, I don't know how far he has travelled and I wouldn't want you to journey with me on what could be a wasted journey! I'm sure you have over more pressing matters to attend to... Then again, Shina thought, having a dragon would minimise the risk of injury to her, probably! Unless she decided to turn on her! Oh what to do, what to do!!?

Lapoo from Thaddeus' shoulder flew back to Shina and then did something unexpected...she flew to the dragon and landed on her shoulder! She had NEVER done that before! Maybe this was a good sign? Ah screw it, what did she have to lose...apart from maybe her life??!

'On second thought, he has been gone for far too long. I need to at least find out what has happened and if you truly want to then you are welcome to join. Perhaps we ought to see if anyone else would want to journey with us? We'll pop back to Minnow's and ask around.

Shina turned to Thaddeus 'If I don't return, you are welcome to take your metals back!' she laughed, anxiously.

Shina looked away as 'Pyrona' mentioned about her wanting to slay her. She felt ashamed, but she just couldn't trust a dragon...not yet anyway. She had been hurt so much in the past, it would take along time to heal. Nonetheless, this dragon had been very kind so far so she would try her best to be more compassionate.

As she was deep in thought, Thaddeus' voice broke through... 'Oh yes, thank you Thaddeus, just what I ordered. I was just showing Pyrona here some of my work, though i must admit that my heart hasn't quite been in it... Shina trailed off again...then turned to the dragon, who still looked menacing as she stood there with those red eyes..

She looked at the dragon and bowed 'I apologise again dragon...I mean Pyrona..for my earlier behaviour towards you. I do hope I can show you some of my new work with these metals if you are likely to stay long enough? Oh and as for who is Guan; he is an old friend and mentor, I often go on 'trips' with him, often bringing back some rare loot, but he has yet to return from his last mission...which is very unlike him.'

Shina was about to return to the workshop..when she remembered payment! 'Thanks again Thaddeus and yep put it on the account if you please. Oh and one last thing, you didn't happen to come across Guan on your journey did you?'

Shina was still giggling whilst she watched Thaddeus apologising to the dragon lady. She had to shake her head when she remembered him saying she was pretty. 'Pull it together Shina, it's just Thaddeus'.

She leaned against a tree and watched him approach the dragon 'I warned you Thaddeus, if you go around touching everything you see, eventually you'd end up on the floor!'

Lapoo, ever the eaves-dropper came swooping in, very careful to avoid the scary creature and landing on Thaddeus' shoulder. She sniffed around his clothes, no doubt trying to see if he'd brought anything tasty back from his travels. 'Lapoo...leave the poor man alone, he doesn't have anything for you.

The dragon was not impressed with Shina's weapons and she had to admit, she was a little hurt, not least because this was a dragon who was downplaying her hard work! But if she looked deep down the dragon was right, she had done better work in the past. Her heart just wasn't in it recently.

But all that was swept under the rug when the dragon produced her own flame to use in the forge... 'Wow really! That's fascinating! I've never seen such a bright flame before! This will be a great experiment to try!! She was giddy with all the ideas that sprung to her mind, it was like her spark was igniting again.... 'Scrap weapons...hmmm...scrap...weapons... Shina looked around the workshop and went to an old chest lying in the corner, one where she kept old pieces she had not got round to doing anything with, she un-did the latch and routed around inside until she found an old longsword that had had better days. She got up and turned to show the dragon when in the corner she could see the familiar sight of...Thaddeus? What...was he doing?! Oh no.....

Shina watched, as if in slow motion, as Thaddeus went to touch her tail 'Thaddeus, DONT'!' Too late! The dragon obviously felt the strange touch and naturally swatted the intruder away!

Shina dropped the longsword and scrambled over the dragon 'So sorry mam, but i think that's my shipment you accidently swatted!

Shina stood over Thaddeus, who had been thrown quite a way. She couldn't help but laugh though she tried to cover it up, 'Hah Thaddeus, you have always been a bad judge of timing! Let me help you up... Shina extended a hand to the very dusty and bewildered man.

Shina cringed as she watched the dragon attempt to get through the workshop. She sighed with relief when the dragon gave up and left only her head in the doorway.

Shina cleared her throat, still a little nervous 'Uh thanks? I think? she suddenly felt shy to show the dragon her wares, after all they weren't much to see, since most of her wares came from the townsfolk. But she did have a few nicer pieces, one of which she was NOT going to be showing.

'I have a few pieces here which might be of interest, although, i'm sure not a patch on your own power and magic! Shina went over to her weapon rack and grabbed a couple of swords... 'These pieces came to me from far afield, this katana was sharpened by forge, note the kissaki has been hardened and laced with fine silver. This longsword came to me in shattered pieces, see how I have re-forged the blade with the strongest of iron? I even re-leathered the hilt.

Lapoo heard the commotion and flew down from Shina's bedroom. When she saw the dragon's head she let out a sharp frightened squeal and flew back up. 'It's OK Lapoo, she is a ....friend? Shina turned back to the dragon head, 'So, what do you think? I know it isn't much, i'm hoping my good friend Guan will return from his journey soon, so I might head out with him and get more loot!

As Shina returned, and entered the workshop again, she felt the rush of wind and a voice greet her. As she turned, she was met with the full body of the lady-come-dragon, no doubt this time.

'Oh hello again, I see my eyes aren't deceiving me this time and you are your true self? I must say it's still a little unnerving. So...welcome to my workshop! She waved her hand across the whole of her somewhat tiny workshop. Hmmm didn't seem as awesome as she thought, at least not for showing a dragon!

'I'm sorry it isn't much but you are welcome to come and look around, that is if you can fit as a dragon?'

Shina went to her stove area and put on some herbal tea, 'So....have you used your fire for forging before? I'm intrigued to see how it works, that is, if you don't mind showing me?'

As Shina walked back to her workshop, Lapoo flew from the roof and onto her shoulders. 'Oh so you're back then? That big scary cat has gone now, no need to worry' she chuckled as Lapoo's checks got big in her stance of anger.

As she stoked her fir back up she contemplated on the use of dragonfire for use of her work 'hmm could be really good...might be worth a try, at least whilst she is still in the town' she thought. She swept the floor of any dust and gubbins laying around, a clean workshop is a productive workshop. She set back to work on the farmer's fork she was repairing when she thought she heard the sound of lots of laughter on the breeze. Now as Shina's workshop was at the river, her keen panda ears could pick up noises fairly easily, and that sounded like alot of commotion.

'Ugh what now? I think it's going to be that kind of day' Shina put the (almost complete) fork on the rack again and walked out around the back of her workshop, which went up a little hill, giving her a good view of the main road.

On the horizon, she could just make out a convoy of wagons, being pulled by a huge cockatrice. 'Look Lapoo, looks like Thaddeus and his crew are back from their travels. OOh i wonder what sundries they have got, maybe I can get myself a new hammer i've been meaning to get for a long while. Lapoo just squeaked in her ear and flew up to get a better view.

Shina returned to her workshop and wondered why she still hadn't heard from Guan, it was unlike him to take so long on a mission. She wasn't too worried though, he was a fierce man and could take care of himself. She considered leaving in search of him but dismissed it, if he still wasn't back in a few days she would go and look for him.

Maybe Thaddeus and his crew had seen him on their travels.

Shina chuckled at Minnow as she came over with the food. 'Come Minnow, you know i'd love nothing more than to help you, after all, i'm sure you're a great boss to work for' She winked at Minnow as she stood to leave.

Suddenly something came crashing into the inn, giving everyone a fright! What a morning this was turning out to be, Shina thought. There hadn't been this much chaos in years!

As Shina saw through the dust a figure appearing, she knew exactly who that was. The scholar Rudolph, someone she had always been interested in but knew so little about. She had often passed by the scholar's guard tower on her way out of the town to go on one of her 'missions'. But she hadn't seen him for some months now.

Shina saw Minnow's face turn from polite inn keeper to very angry Night Elf!

Shina waved to Rudolph... 'Mornin Rudolph, nice entrance!' She turned to the dragon lady and her new soldier/princess friend. I hope you enjoy your breakfast and please stop by the workshop if you get the chance.
