Vivi listened intently to the fairy's explanation of Negari, growing rather worried at the prospect of a monster that seemed unaffected by swords. Only magic could hurt them? That was a frightening prospect, and Vivi could only hope he didn't run into one. He doubted any spells he knew of were strong enough to work.

Upon declaring Yuki to be a magical girl, the black mage faced the confetti-covered girl once more, head tilting slightly, "...does that mean you're a mage too, Miss Yuki?" he asked with some surprise. He'd never met another person like him, and... that was still the case, really, but an actual magic user? Even his grandfather's brand of magic was completely incomparable to Vivi's own.
The young lad was slowly losing some of his nervousness as they talked. Between Yuki's gentleness and the fairy's cheerful disposition, it was putting the lost magician at ease.

"And, um... thanks for the explanation, Miss... La...lalalai... lalo..."

The poor boy's formality was now proving quite the obstacle.

"...Lalelulilo... lillio?"
More cat, you say?

Vivi

Vivi's head tilted slightly in confusion. Why was Yuki talking as if she had missed that grand, magnificent castle that had towered over Alexandria? It was where the play was going to be performed, after all. Just how lost was this girl...?

He watched the fairy flying around his head curiously, having never seen anything like her beford... which wasn't hard, given how little of the world he'd seen, but Vivi had never heard of people small enough to fit in the palm of his hand.
The thing they kept mentioning piqued his interest a little more, however. "...Negari?" he questioned. Was it a type of monster, like the ones born from Mist? He hoped they weren't too dangerous.
Vivi, Top-Tier Black Mage

Vivi turned his glowing orbs-for-eyes towards Yuki, who spoke to him with concern. His trembling quickly came to a stop as he saw that the girl who had screamed so suddenly wasn't scary-looking or anything. After a moment's hesitation, he reached out for Yuki's hand, letting himself be pulled back to his feet. Luckily, he wasn't all that heavy.

Shyly turning away to dust himself off, he glanced at his surroundings once more, before facing the pink=haired girl again, "Um... it's Alexandria, isn't it?" he replied with some concern. It was disheartening if this nice girl was even more lost than he, but at the very least, he HAD to still be in that castle town, right? Even if this was some sort of back street he stumbled into...

Vivi's gaze remained low as he wondered what else to say. Aside from his grandfather, he hadn't really spoken much with others. What was the best way to converse...? Well, the girl had introduced herself already, so...

"My name's Vivi," he spoke nervously, "I... came to see the play at the castle."
Vivi

Vivi didn't know Alexandria very well, but he was still pretty sure something was off.

He'd entered through the massive gates of the castle's walls, into the town itself. He'd seen the bustling citizens hurrying to and fro, possibly because of the play to be performed later that day... looking into the sky, he saw a massive airship heading for the castle itself, way on the other side of town... frankly, it was all a little intimidating, but moreso wonderful.

And then he tripped.

Shaking his head and climbing back to his feet, the shadowed face of the young boy could not be seen, no matter how he tilted his head under that floppy hat. No doubt utter confusion was etched all over his unseen face as he saw the large square he was standing in a moment ago, with a large fountain in the centre, was suddenly gone. Replaced by a street that didn't entirely match with Alexandria's aesthetic.

Vivi couldn't figure out what was going on. Had he walked onwards more than he realised, too caught up in the strange new location to notice? But the festivities didn't seem to reach this street. How could all that noise have disappeared so suddenly? Why was this place so devoid of people?

Nervously, the young mage took a step forward. He could probably ask someone for directions... if they seemed nice enough, at least. Would the people here be friendly? Almost everyone that Vivi bumped into had nothing but rude things to say, but it was hard to decry them for that, after all, he was walking into them instead of paying attention.

As the black mage fretted to himself on what to do, a loud yell startled the poor boy. As soon as he passed an alley, a large 'eeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh?!' erupted from it, and Vivi yelled out in shock, falling on his behind. It seemed to originate from a pink-haired girl standing in the alley. Trembling slightly, Vivi tilted his head down as he tried to calm his nerves.
Guess I'll need to drop Yuuka now.

I'm interested in this, too. Let's see... Yuuka or Vivi...
I'll probably add bits to this later, but for now...

Crinitia

Crinitia is a small country, and considered the homeland of the Crinitians - or animalpeople. For several centuries, it was an independent nation noted for exporting rare fruits, and being a tough place to live for humans, due to colder climates and relatively few settlements. While not a poor country, many native Crinitians choose to leave the country for less harsh living conditions - those that remain are typically suited for hunting and fighting.

However, this land was unfortunate enough to be one of the Empire's first territories to envelope. Faced with its' far superior technology and overwhelming presence, the Crinitians were forced to choose between annihilation and subjugation. While the Empire was active, the natives were treated as slave labour or conscripted soldiers; gender and age were of little importance to the Empire, who considered the Crinitians as little more than animals.

Because of the Yeln Empire's policies regarding their people, Crinitians had become a common-enough sight in their ranks, that many people today still see them as remnants of the fallen Empire, and as such, are often treated with distrust, or even outright hostility. Many people, even citizens amongst the former empire, were unaware of how cruelly treated the Crinitians were. Many believed them to be willing participants, when in truth, they were little more than cannon fodder for the empire, meant to soak up the bullets and blades of the enemy for the real forces.

Though the Empire has fallen, the country is still rocked with poverty and crime, no longer a peaceful place to live.
"Ah?!" Nanako gasped when the entire building shook. At first, she thought it was some sort of earthquake, and nearly dropped to the floor in fear. The only thing holding her back was a sense of confusion. Just as the world seemed to shake, hadn't there been a strange thumping noise from above? As if something heavy was dropped on the roof... Nanako's eyes widened at the realisation, and turned towards the breaking windows.

Nana, get outta there! Came Tamamko's urgent warning, and one that the senior would have gladly followed, but the presence of others made that difficult. Nanako may not be known as a heroic figure of justice and peace, but she was still (probably) the oldest one in the building, and she couldn't abandon those two to run away, or even transform. Hiding away right now would make it too obvious when she showed up in her magical girl form, but she was the only one here right now...

She watched the approaching tentacle with some disgust, eager to remove herself from the scene. She needed privacy to transform, after all... she couldn't let herself be seen by anyone, least of all another student at her school! But if she didn't, and they all got hurt, or...

As Nanako tried to conduct the right course of action, the redheaded underclassmen had taken her hand and was trying to lead her to safety. She had attempted to grab the other girl as well, but the stranger had disappeared from view, only to have a strange, familiar light erupt from behind a shelf. And suddenly, she attacked, slicing the tentacle in the blink of an eye.

Nanako stared at the blade-wielding magical girl. The Ripper...? She's heard of her, though they'd never interacted directly - Nanako had figured no amount of laughs would be a worth a potential knife in the gut. She didn't know much about this one, but the fact that a magical girl was already here, meant Nanako could potentially slip away, and if necessary, transform and help out. Though she'd need to take care of her fellow student first.

"...Ripper-san, thank you for your help," Nanako spoke formally, her voice almost abnormally calm for a supposed normal schoolgirl, "please, do what you can to defeat that Negari for us."
