Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

"I'm gonna rest up before we arrive but if you ever want me to look over that arm of yours just let me know. As long as you can do something for me... Promise that you won't thank me for my work." Arex said in reply as their conversation concluded.

"Heh, no worries, mate. I only save those thank you's for special individuals" Benny said in reply as he got up from the bed he was on and put his shirt back on. He had to head back to his room and the lab in order to prepare for the upcoming mission. Can't count on those Alliance jackasses having provided me with all of my old explosives, better get cracking on a few replacements... He thought as he left for the labs.

Revenant: War Room. 8 hours later

Benny stared at the hologram of the mining station when the briefing began. The layout was similar to the planetside mining platform he once raided belonging to the same corporation, but it was just different enough to warrant caution as they proceeded through it. He listened to Stryker's briefing as the uses of the different gear he had prepared in the hours prior ran through his mind. Trip mines would be useless as they would be running through the ship instead of holding positions. An acid bomb or two might be of use in case they came across a reinforced barrier. Sleep gas would be useless if they had to kill them all anyway. Better to bring frags and incendiaries to flush out anyone hiding behind cover. A cluster grenade or two would wreak havoc on unarmored civilians in large groups. As for the number of highly-explosive remote charges he was going to bring...

Benny turned towards Stryker as he finished briefing them on their mission and objectives. He was about to ask something but their resident skeletal pilot asked first.

"Question. I may not be going on this mission and doing the dirty work, but does 'no survivors' extend to kids? I don't mean to sound like a pansy, but they ARE kids after all." Tibulus asked.

Before Stryker could even respond, Lataniva beat him to it. The Dalentian turned towards Tibulus before speaking. "I do not believe there were any exceptions included in our orders... But do not worry. If you are uncomfortable with the thought, it might please you to know that I am not." She started, before her voice took on a more grim tone as she continued. "It is not our concern if they picked the worst imaginable day for bring-your-child-to-work day." She said as she continued studying the hologram.

"Heh, well it IS a mining facility. If not, then it's a Federation outpost. Eitha' way, there's little chance of us finding any children there at all, unless it turns out to actually be some kinda' refugee camp... In which case I'd probly ask if our previous orders still stand. Though I doubt it will happen." Benny said in response.

In the midst of this, their blind crewmate Amy suddenly excused herself from the War Room, leaving in a hurry. This caused a short break in the conversation, after which Benny decided to ask his question.

"Soo... Captain. Which team do ya' need me and Skelly for? Are we going ta' hit the security offices on the upper levels to screw with their systems? Or do ya' need us on demolition duty against that planet-cracker? I need to know how many explosives I gotta lug around before I get dropped into this impendin' clusterfuck." He asked, turning towards Stryker.

Will whip up a post later today. Sounds like Maxi and Benny might get along fairly well. Especially since it seems theyll be sharing the research lab. I hope he's not startled by loud noises

@Tickout Which of the crew members picked him up? Your post didnt seem to specify who other than one of the males.
@Crossfire Sure, though I just posted my reply to Dark Light a couple minutes ago so he may wanna reply to me again before we jump forward.
"Huh, what?" The cyborg said in a very surprised manner. He looked at Benny for a bit before shaking his head and continuing. "Oh, nah. No injury, just looking around." He said. Benny assumed that he had been scanned or analyzed by the guy in the few moments the man had looked at him.

"Alrigh' Jus' figured someone like you wouldn' come around here unless you had an augment malfunction or somethin'" Benny replied dryly as he finished up his repairs to Skelly. He stretched his bionic arm out a bit and flexed the fingers to ensure they still responded properly to his brain's commands.

"Bet ya got a story for that!" The man started as he leaned against the med-bay wall. "You in the right place for that? I think there was more of a mechanics workshop near the engine room." The man continued.

"Nah. I don' need that much tools for fixin' Ol' Skelly up since I did most o' the repairs earlier. I jus' wanted to be near some painkillers in case I started getting some bad neural feedback from 'em. It tends to happen whenever I get 'em reinstalled so I figured it was better safe then sorry." Benny replied

"As for the story... Yeah you could say that. Ever heard of the heist on the ExoCalibur Corporation main factory in the Aeolus System? Me and a few mates I used to run with did that. Started out easy enough but turned into a real shitstorm about halfway through. We figured tha' someone tipped 'em off but we were too busy tryin' ta' survive to think too hard about it. An explosion in the middle o' that mess virtually killed ma' left arm so I had an old friend glue Ol' Skelly onto me as a replacement after we got away. We nevar did find out who sold us out..." Benny narrated. He paused for a moment.

"But if I ever do figure it out and they're still alive, I'd love to thank them for lettin' me meet Ol' Skelly because of what they did. Y'know... Before I strap a timebomb to their chest and kick 'em out the airlock and leave them to wonder if the explosion or suffocation will kill them first." Benny finished as he looked up at the man with a smile.

"Ach! Forgot me manners again. Name's Benny Boomer. And you are...?" He quickly added extending his bionic arm out for a handshake. He would've used his normal arm for it but he wasn't sure if this man could inadvertently crush his bones from squeezing a bit too hard.

@Dark Light

@Crossfire Benny will take Room 5. Also the floor plan looks REALLY good. Though Dark Light makes some good points about space adjustment that could make it better if needed
Finally made my post after a long delay >_<. I decided to have Benny meet up with Arex, the other cybernetically enhanced fellow on the the ship. Some time elapsed between Benny leaving the War room and fixing himself on the Med Bay, so Arex and Lataniva are free to finish whatever interaction you guys might have them do before encountering Benny.
Chronos Station: Departure

@Xandrya

“Sure, trust the blind girl to patch you back up. What could go wrong, right?" Amy started with clear sarcasm. Though she continued quickly with a more genuine “But really, thank you. I promise I won’t be this much of a bother once I become familiarized with the ship. The first day or two is always the hardest, then it's easy as cake. But you know, what can you do when they throw an assignment on you at the very last possible moment." She added.

"Well then let's hope you dinnae get sent on a mission withou' a tour o' the combat zone first" Benny replied jokingly.

Lataniva also addressed him regarding the suggestion he put forward about getting someone to give him access to the station's main security office. "That is possible. However, if we can get our hands on the right person, then I can simply obtain the information of how to do so for myself and then grant you access myself. Controlling someone takes time, as I need to calibrate a lot of factors, but just reading their mind takes but moments."

"Well I s'pose that makes things simpler. As long as either way gets us wot we need I'll happily take either one He said in response. Afterwards he braced himself for the Revenant's lift-off. The shudder of the ship as it breached the artifical atmosphere of the station caused him to stagger back for a moment, but he was later able to pull himself up... A little more than he'd like.

Apparently the artificial gravity of the ship wasn't engaged so he ended up floating a little above the war room table along with Amy's luggage. Whoever forgot to turn it on seemed to realize their mistake quickly enough and activated it, causing Benny to be pulled down violently with the extra weight of the woman's luggage. Thankfully he didn't break anything or cause any of Ol' Skelly's components to detach.

"ACK! Bloody careless idiots! Even a cheap-arse commercial shuttle dinnae forget to do their pre-flight checks properly..." He said angrily as he pulled himself up and dusted himself off. Once the ship had stabilized, Amy retrieved her items from him with another thanks before the crew began dispersing.

With the CIC being a little emptier now, the Sandra woman spoke up to address the Dalentian. "So. I forgot to ask. Does this thing have a tub somewhere or something? It'd be nice to have a little soak before we get to the Zargos system. Or bath. Latte? What do you think about freshening up? Unlike the guys here, I think we need to smell less like savages and sweat, don't you agree?" Sandra said.

"Although I am used to spending large amounts of time enduring any natural fallacies of the mortal body, yes. Freshening up would be nice." Lataniva replied

Benny picked up on Sandra's indirect insult. "Tch! Well excuse me for pollutin' your nostrils. I have a few things to take care o' anyway so I'll be leavin' you lasses with some fresher air for the moment." Benny replied as he walked out of the war room. He intended to make a quick run to the research lab to grab some of his tools before fully securing Skelly onto his shoulder at the med-bay. Just in case they had another incident like temporarily losing gravity, he didn't want to end up losing his arm due to some accident. That would be outright insulting.

@mackielars @PlatinumSkink

Revenant: Med-bay

The sterile white med-bay was empty and mostly quiet with the exception of Benjamin sitting on one of the beds while his mechanical screwdriver whirred to secure Skelly onto the mechanized part of his shoulder. The big Russian man, Sasha, had left for a while to handle some errands leaving Benny alone to do as he pleased. at least after he promised not to mess with the way Sasha had organized the tools and medicines there. Just as he was finishing up the last set of screws on the exterior plating of his arm, an unfamiliar face entered the room.

He appeared to be a tall and heavily augmented human, but slightly different than most humans though he couldn't exactly place why. He appeared to have barged in rather quickly into the med-bay, not even waiting for the doors to fully open.

"You uhh... Got some kind o' medical emergency? The doctor's out right now. But even if he was here I doubt he'd know wot to do with someone as augmented as you are." Benny said towards the large cyborg before him, pausing his repairs for a moment to see who this crewmate was and what they were there for.

@Dark Light
Will get a post up later today. Sorry to the people I've kept waiting >_<
@crossfire Option 1 for people who have stated that they may return. Those who are gone for good can either be 2 or 3. Captured units or casualties will be interesting especially if we run into something we may not have been expecting.

Also, this is just my personal opinion but... Isn't our new AI companion a little too overpowered? He has a 720 round assault rifle that can punch through multiple targets, can use heavy weapons, can use snipers, can hack, can tear a human in half or punch a hole through their ribs and torso, and has enough armor plating to be a tank character. I know you already accepted them but, can't we tone it down a bit? Because this robot is essentially a one-man army and I don't see anything less than some eldritch space horror being able to take him down. I feel like this may cause problems during points in the story where we are supposed to be desperately fighting for our lives because we can just have him do all the hard work.
"Mind helping me? I'm not the least bit familiar with the ship and I'm afraid that I'll end up with a broken arm or a leg if I attempt to make a break for my room at the last possible minute." Amy responded as she turned towards Benny.

The bomber audibly sighed as he released his hold from the table and approached the girl's luggage back. Using Skelly pick it up, he dragged the container towards him as he used his human arm to brace himself once more on the war room table. Amy's luggage was fairly heavy, and though Skelly could carry a great deal of weight, the shoulder joint was still not as secured as Benny would've liked. Regardless, the bag was held firmly by his bionic arm. "Jus' so ya' know, lass, if Ol' Skelly comes off'a me again 'cause of whatever rocks you're carryin' in here, you're helpin' screw him back on." Benny said as he awaited the ship's takeoff.

He felt that something was off about this woman. She seemed far too nice in comparison to everyone else on board. People like Hadrian, their chef, and Lataniva, the Dalentian, were polite yet clearly wary due to the nature of their team. Benny himself and that Sandra woman were more cheery, but it was mainly because of their natural quirkiness and not a desire to "fit in" with the crew. Amy on the other hand was behaving as if she were assigned to a civilian vessel, speaking as if everything they were doing was normal. Maybe I'm just overthinking this... Hell, she could be a serial killer for all I know and the nice and normal act is all a facade, in which case she'd fit in perfectly. Or maybe she's another Alliance bitch that Captain Dawson sent here to keep an eye on us. No wait, she's blind... Ehh, statement still stands, she seems perceptive enough. No use pondering about it now though. Guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there. He thought silently, putting the suspicion aside for now.
