National Orthodox Union of Hellenic States
(Or Just Call It Greece) Group Allegiance (WF, Moscow Pact, ANS, EIS, Or Neutral): Alliance of Nationalist States
Nation Rank (Superpower, Power, Regional Power, or Unranked): Power
Population:45 Million People
Flag/Banner:Territory:(The Blue Area In Southern Europe)
Army Size:1.2 Million People.
Other Military Information (Not mandatory): The Greek Military would pride itself in the way it mixed Advancement and Army Size in their military. Being right next to the People's Republic of Turkey, one of the strongest Nations in the Moscow pact, has turned that area into one of the main places where World War 3 breaking out is possible. Control of the Bosporous is split between the Moscow Pact and the ANS, turning Greece into an important ally to the German Reich.
Culture:Greek culture is extremely typical of what the region had since Heraclius officially made Eastern Rome "Greek". They are Orthodox Christians, with a decent sized Muslim minority because of some of the Turks left inside Constantinople. When Hitler gave Constantinople (and some northern territory) to the Greeks, it would end up creating a slight problem for the Greeks. A muslim minority would exist in Western Constantinople, a very large minority. So the Greeks would strike up a deal with the Soviets, who at this time still had Eastern Turkey occupied. All Turks currently in Greece would be allowed to go to the East without fear of getting killed, and all Orthodox Christians currently in the East could come to Greece without fear of being killed. This would work, and Constantinople would end up becoming Majority Greek once again after people started moving there in large amounts. The Patriarch of Constantinople would become the 2nd most powerful man in Christianity, with the Pope being the only person who seemed to be more important than him.
History:As Hitler would march into Greece, he would not come as a conquerer, he would be a liberator. He would come in and state that for loyalty, the Greeks would be given back Western Constantinople, the jewel of their history, one of the Holiest places in all of Christendom. They would accept the deal, as long as they remained Subjects of the Third Reich until the war ended, they would be given Western Constantinople.
"My Brothers, I want you to understand that I feel your pain. Nearly 500 years ago you lost your land, you lost what made you, you. Years of Ottoman Hegemony destroyed so many other cultures, but you all survived. There is a reason for this, because of your will, because of your power, you where able to keep your culture for all of those years of Oppressive rule, and when you finally got independence, you did it through a war, it was not a gift, and you where able to defeat the Ottoman Superpower and give the Greeks a home again. 100 Years later the Ottomans would slaughter your people, along with the Armenians, and I remember, and now it is time for your revenge. As long as you remain loyal, and give me forces for an invasion, you shall have Constantinople back from the grasps of the invasive people. The Hagia Sophia, The City of the World's desire, thousands of years of history, shall be given to you again.-Adolf Hitler, June 27th, 1941. In Athens
This speech would ignite the Greek people behind a common cause, and they would become some of the best forces the German Reich would have. While the reclaiming of Constantinople would happen 3 years later, the Greeks would continue to fight with the Germans. By 1942 most of the war would have moved on to being a battle in Asia for complete Japanese control over the region. The end of the war in 1944 would see Hitler gift the Greeks Western Constantinople, Cyprus, and some slightly more northern territories right above their country originally. The ascension of the Greeks into a territorial power would slightly anger the Italians, who still had the goal of reclaiming former Roman territory.
The United Axis Front would split in 1960, seeing the ANS and EIS both be birthed into existence. The Greeks would join the ANS, understanding that this alliance with the Germans would most likely continue to keep Greece safe from any outside threats, such as the members of the Moscow Pact. The Cold War would escalate to another level in the 1970s, with the Soviets expanding their influence far across the world with rebellions, thus permanently changing the outlook of the conflict, making it a bunch of proxy wars. The Communist rebellion in the Peloponnesus would last a year, before the Greek army would completely make it their goal to eradicate the Communist rebel troops. From there, the conflict would be taken to the mountains. Ever so often attacks would happen inside Greece, but the armed rebellion was stopped.
The 80s would be filled with tension over the devolving relations of the WF and the Moscow Pact, with the ANS being in between the two. The Greeks would make deals with the WF, despite the German demands that they do not. With this deal, in an event of conflict between the WF and Moscow Pact, WF troops would be defended by Greek troops in the Bosporous. This deal would stack the odds in the favor of the WF, and by 88 the Moscow Pact would back down, and the Greeks would destroy the treaty, by the demands of the Germans.
The 90s would be incredibly interesting regarding international events. A pandemic of multiple viruses across India and China would weaken the EIS, causing Japanese and German relations to normalize to make sure that the Japanese would have a backup plan in case of a Soviet invasion. Greek and Japanese forces would do multiple training exercises, exchanging secrets, and planning for the possible scenario of Germany's collapse. In 97, two rebellions would be ignited in the Korean Peninsula, one funded by the Moscow Pact and the other funded by the WF. Greek troops would be an important part in stopping the rebellion, and by 00 it would be crushed.
The 00s would be dominated by two events. The civil war in China, and the declining of the world's economy. September 11th, 2001 would see communist rebels blow up a Skyscraper in Shanghai and a Japanese embassy in Beijing. These events would turn China into a battleground for years, and would see the ANS and EIS work together to make sure Moscow Pact forces are not able to expand. The ANS and EIS would be able to hold off Communist rebels, but when the WF officially decide to fight against the rebels the conflict would end by 2006, after 900,000 people would end up dead. Greek forces would be a major part in the Siege of Shanghai, helping defend the city from the Communist rebels.
The destructions of thousands of factories would see the decline of Chinese goods being sent across the planet, causing the costs for goods to go up, and making people poorer. The event would end up helping the Greeks, who would turn Western Constantinople into one of the biggest industrial cities on earth, and by the time of economic recover across the planet the Greeks had been fine 1 year earlier. By 2011, majority of the planet had recovered from the economic issues, and two new Industrial Powerhouses were formed. The Indians would surpass the Chinese in goods produced, and the Greeks would create large amounts of luxury goods, and they would be known for their mix of Japanese and German engineering.
The 2010s would be mostly a peaceful time. No huge conflict would break out, other than a Democratic Rebellion in Kurdistan that would be shut down down, and the near collapse of the Hellenic bank in October 2016. The Hellenic Bank would end up recovering by December, and another huge economic crisis was prevented.
Rivals:People's Republic of Turkey: Both nations hold contempt for each other for multiple reasons. While being in two different factions doesn't help, the fact that the Greeks now own Western Constantinople doesn't help with the diplomacy, and the thought that the Turks murdered hundreds of thousands of Greeks during World War 1 most certainly doesn't escape them. The two countries are the most likely place for World War 3 to bring out, and if it does, the war will be bloody.
Nationalist Spain: While both countries are in the ANS, they both attempt to be known as the Second Strongest and the Mediterranean power. Both of their militaries are quite powerful, and if a conflict was to ever break out between the two, it would probably tear the ANS apart.
Italy: The Greeks and the Italians are not allies, even though they are in the same faction. With the same issue as Spain, but on a larger scale, nations have territorial gains in major Mediterranean islands, and both wish to continue that conquest. A battle between Italy and Greece would most likely see Spain and Finland joining the Italian side, Egypt and France joining the Greeks, and the Germans attempting to salvage what was left of the Faction.
Government Structure:Greece is a Multi-Party Single-Ideology Republic. There exist 4 Legal parties, the Orthodox Nationalist Union, a party that focuses more on expanding Christendom then continuing their alliance with Papists and Protestants. The Golden Dawn would be a "moderate" fascist party, willing to allow more personal freedoms then others, but would still be extremely nationalist. The Hellenic National Socialist Party would be much more closer to Hitler's ideals then other ones. Saying that the only way that they'll continue their survival inside the ANS is to be closer to the original Natsoc Ideals. The Final political party is the Justinian Party, who wishes to bring upon the rebirth of the Eastern Roman Empire and the eventual recreation of the Monarchy.
Those who are elected Chancellor serve 10 year terms, and they can serve an unlimited amount of terms. The Senate is a group of 200 people. Most typical Senate elections have well over 1000 people run, but only the top 200 get places in the Senate. Currently, the Orthodox Nationalist Union is the current party of the chancellor in Greece, with Heracius Decasiu is the current Chancellor. The Senate is controlled by the Golden Dawn, and they are going to try and take control of the government come next election.
Other:The Greeks, unlike most nations in the ANS, would be more religiously nationalist then anything, with the eventual goal of reclaiming Antioch from the clutches of the Communists, and eventually even conquering Jerusalem. They see themselves as the 2nd strongest country in the ANS, but it isn't really obvious who is stronger out of Spain, Italy, France, and Greece.
