Bio

Long timer roleplayer, been at it for... god, almost 15 years now all told. Hasn't been all sunshine and roses, but I like to think I've improved somewhat steadily as time has gone on.

I generally like to play older characters, or at least toward the higher end of an age range. Also, just about all of my characters are caring and protective in some capacity, even the rare meanie that I make.

I play a mixture of male and female characters. I myself am a guy.

Generally speaking I try to post at least once per week.

Tobias Rivenridge

It was not the first time in Tobias's life that he found himself vexed by Melvil Dewey and his very existence. This system of organizing library books was downright silly with its numbers. Really, if you needed a codebook to decipher and cross reference anything that wasn't an actual secret code, it should have been taken as a sign that it was too complex. "Architecture, 720 point whatever, right over there, THANK YOU!"
He was shortly upon the books that hopefully held what he was looking for. He had found a copy of some records that indicated the school had been founded in the 1800s, but he somehow doubted that was correct. As a means to double check, as well as tie in to his personal clue, he'd gone searching for a book on 1800s architecture. It took some time, but he did find one, pulled it from the shelf, and started flipping through it. Confirming his suspicions took barely half the book; the themes and example schematics discussed were so wildly different from almost all of structures of the Academy that he wondered how anybody could be convinced those records were accurate. Some of them fit the ideas, but the rest of it...
It could well be that they were coerced by someone, he mused, or perhaps someTHING.
There was, however, a footnote that caught his eye as he passed. A small thing in a passing passage comparing some of the larger buildings of the time to even older structures, but it referenced another textbook by the same publisher and author on medieval and Renaissance architecture. A quick scan down the shelf revealed that the book was present, and opening it revealed a slew of styles that befit more of the school's buildings... but still not all. Come to think of it, he thought to himself, Some of the dorms also remind me of London townhouses, but those were all built in the 20s!
Tobias spent the next half hour pouring over every era he could find a book for. And every single one of them had a design or idea described that could be attributed to one building or another of the campus, even the ones that went so far back as the construction of Versailles! And yet, for all that was explainable, there still remained a handful that he couldn't place, like they were built before Architecture was a thing to be studied. It was as if, rather than just being older than advertised, the school was one giant anachronism where every time period that passed dropped something off. How old, then, did that make the buildings he couldn't place? He sat there between the shelves, surrounded by books, pondering that as the time continued to pass.
Done.

Post coming tomorrow evening.
No worries, I totally get ya. That's actually why I'm trying to write this now, so I can scratch this itch to post before that happens.

Good luck! Semester is on the ropes, FINISH IT
@Raijinslayer@Feisty-Pants So, here is my plan for overwriting that snip since I'd like to do that tonight or tomorrow. Rather than try to jump into Mission ImpossiVix, I'm going to have it be purely emotional reaction to the events thus far, he'll hear Vix in trouble and start to put things together, but I'm going to wait until the Jaden post (which could totally be a collab if you're up for it) to have him actually do anything.

Instead, I'll use the rest of it as a tie-in for Hestia to get her in. My only real question, probably for @TalijaKey, is on the universe mechanics for pokeballs. To cut to the chase and keep it simple, I want to have the post feature Hestia bailing on her original trainer- should I make sure she grabs her ball in the process?

Is that cool with all parties involved?
<Snipped quote by Saltwater Thief>

She might yell in surprise. But she'd probably get muffled quickly.

Okay. Would it be alright if I had Seth hear a yelp of some sorts?
Vulpix CS has been added to my tab in the Character Section.

@Feisty-Pants For my post, would Vix cry or yelp or scream etc as she was grabbed? Or is there something else she would do first?

@Raijinslayer I know you're busy with school and such, but do you think you might have time this coming week to put our heads together and figure out the game plan?
@Saltwater ThiefWhy not just have him overhear a cry that sounds familiar, curiously run in its direction, and sees the van take off? With Vix being missing, if he has a hunch, he could always go to Jaden and ask him where his Pokemon is. If he doesn't know, then that will probably bring suspicion that she was kit-napped. Boom. Simple. Done. Not even complicated. Move from there.

I'm growing exasperated with this topic, so please don't ask me what you should do again. If you can't figure it out, then I don't know what to say to you but to not post and let the scene move forward until you have a way of getting involved. If you can't see your character getting involved do to whatever situation, then just don't get involved.

Lastly, I'm not "other GMs." I am the GM of this game. So if you think there's some mechanical trend that all GMs employ, there isn't. Every GM is different and you have to learn to work with and adapt to each one. We're not made on assembly lines so if a GM has a certain way of doing things, then it's either adapt or get out. That's just how it is.

It seems I have made a mistake somewhere. It was not my intention to ask you what I should do, you requested that one of the adaptations I make to my playstyle was to run ideas by you to make sure they will hold water rather than post them at will. That was what I was aiming to do this evening- I had an idea, I asked some questions surrounding it, and if I needed clarification on an answer I sought it. If any of that appeared to be asking for exactly what to do, then I apologize for not making myself clear enough.

Truth be told, what you just described was precisely what I had in mind in the wake of your answers; ask Feisty what sort of sound Vix would make if any, say Seth saw her go around the corner, then hear the yelp/cry/scream/etc and the van start, put 2 and 2 together, then get with Jaden and work out what happens therein with Raijin. So that works quite well then.

Thank you for your patience.
