I'm an adult with a family and responsibilities that take priority, as well as mental health issues that can cause me to not get on this site for periods of time. Just know I will get back to you within a few days. If I had something going with you at some point, and you're interested in either starting it back up or starting something fresh, just reach out.

I recently started working on getting published, and have self published one story so far. Check it out on Amazon - Into the Night by Alexia Wynd.

The computer wasn't quite like Faye's - the keyboard and mouse felt completely foreign in her hands instead of comfortable, which would be a bigger problem if she weren't just copying pictures and emailing them to herself. But she hated keyboard keys that stuck and this one seemed to need a little more effort to push down some of the keys than she was used to. Given it was older, and the person that typically used it had hands the size of her head, she wasn't surprised in the least though. It just took a bit more time for her to navigate the unfamiliar setup and get the pictures copied over to the right locations.

"I'm going to leave a copy of all the pictures I took on this computer for you guys saved under a file marked 'Faye Wrexlyn photo shoot' in case any of the other kids ask for a copy. I took a few of everyone in the multiple attempts to get the group picture, so hopefully some of them are ones the kids or their parents would like to see." She worked to find the printer - navigating to the right location once Rosa pointed it out - to print off a few choice pictures of the group and Lisa.

She was working on getting the files copied over to send to herself when Neil popped in. The photographer looked over her shoulder and was about to open her mouth when Rosa interjected with a sassy comment of her own. She glanced at the rancher girl beside her before looking back at the giant man in the door. Not that she wasn't one for snappy comments, but in the home of someone she had offered to help - albeit late - and might potentially score a client...she preferred not to kick things off with sass if she could. It seemed to work out just fine though and the man was on his way before she could actually show him one of the pictures that printed.

Oh well, there was always dinner.

Speaking of which, the smell of the cooking slowly filled the room. Her stomach rumbled when she finally realized what she was smelling. "Eev eevee ee eev," Sage yipped as he trotted in. Tilia landed on Faye's shoulder and just ruffled her feathers.

"You two are hungry too, huh?" The shiny bird on her shoulder ruffled its feathers in a shrug and chirped, ""Hoot hoot-hoot." Faye smiled and nodded. "I figured as much. You two had quite the fight. We can see if they have anything for you guys, but if not I have some food in my pack for you."

The photographer closed everything out properly the way she found it and grabbed the pictures from the printer, offering the best picture focused mostly on Rosa to the teen. "Like I said, I emailed them to myself so I can do touchups and get a better print quality for you, if you want. But they still came out great without needing any editing."

She let Sage lead the way out of the room and was set to follow him into the dining room when she spotted Tristan laying on the ground staring under the couch, and his Murkrow and Riolu were just as fascinated with whatever was beneath it. His torchic maybe? She shrugged and slung her backpack around to quickly - carefully - dig through it. She pulled out a small baggy of pokemon food her father had helped her prepare and offered it to Tristan. "Here. Might be able to lure it out with this. Wait, hold on." She double checked the label then offered it again. "No, yes, this is the right one. Generic mix, but designed for Pokémon with beaks instead of muzzles. I'm sure it'll get used to you eventually." After placing the bag next to him, she turned and headed off to join the others in the dinning room.

"Dinner looks and smells wonderful, Mrs Andersen. Thank you very much for letting us be able to eat with you. I took some photographs of your daughters and Lisa's friends after a little practice Pokémon tournament we had earlier today, and printed them out for you to have; I left the files on your computer for you to have as well, in case you want to make extra copies." She offered Lisa a close up picture she took of the girl and her Nickit, then offered one of the group pictures to Neil and the other to Frida. "Do you mind if Sage and Tilia eat with us too?"

Conversation over dinner can be skipped if desired. No real opinion.

@samreaper

Well, those hopes that she was wrong about the haughty pretty boy were quite swiftly dashed. Faye wasn't sure if she was disappointed she was right, or disappointed he seemed so eager to prove her reassessment wrong. It made the fact he had a riolu already all the more confounding to her. This had to be a show then. That was the only way it made sense. But, if this was all just a show, then why - ugh. She had to stop trying to riddle him out right now or her brain would melt. Right now the point was just getting these two dolts back to the farmhouse.

She rolled her eyes at Tristan's snide remark. Sage growled softly at him before Faye scooped him up in her arms and stroked behind his ear. "Don't let him get to you. You remember his speech from the lab." Sage calmed at that, and turned a bit to lick Faye's cheek. She let him jump down, and let Sage take the lead. Faye followed alongside Robbie in case he needed to lean on someone to help him navigate the uneven terrain back to the farmhouse.

Her flashlight certainly came in handy before long. It was already dark enough the lights in the distance helped light some of the day - so having the readily available light to keep the shadows from dancing too much and hiding potholes. She stopped Robbie once, navigating him around a spot that would likely cause the limb to get worse, on their walk back. Bad guy or not, he didn't deserve a twisted ankle to go along with a prison cell. When they got close enough, she saw Tilia perched on a fence post not far off. Whether the rowlet delivered the note or not, at least she was waiting for them to return. That certainly made it easier than hunting the grass bird down.

While the scene played out between the farmhand and the rancher, Faye turned her attention to the rowlet. She whistled and held out her arm. Tilia flew over and took a perch on the offered appendage. "Thank you for your help. Want to stay out? There's a little girl inside that would like to meet you." Tilia brustled in what looked like a shrug with an impartial hoot.

She returned as it all seemed to wrap up and the officers were departing with the thieving ranch hand. While the giant of a man didn't seem too pleased with how everything turned out, Faye offered him a gentle smile. "Thank you for your hospitality." She didn't give Tristan much of a second glance and headed off after the woman - Frida - with Sage at her side. She had told Rosa she'd catch up in a bit. This was more than a bit but at least she was keeping her word at returning. Upon entering the home, Faye's smile brightened as she looked to the woman. "You have a very lovely home, Mrs. Andersen."

Sage trotted over and sat next to Lisa to watch her playing with dolls. Faye's attention turned to Rosa when the teen spoke up. "Yes, kinda crazy. But helpful this guy wears such strong perfumes that even Tilia could have tracked him down. I'm sure the absolute last thing you guys need is some trainer and a thief twisting an ankle or worse on the walk across your pastures. Oh, hey, you said you had a printer I could borrow, right? I should print those pictures off for you guys before I completely forget. Do you mind showing me where it is? Otherwise, like I said, we can exchange some info and I can just forward you a digital copy or mail you a professional print when I stop home in King's Cross."

Faye Wrexlyn

Overhead, Tilia hooted to let them know she saw something. Faye could vaguely see two people squaring off in what looked like a two on one fight, but she couldn't tell who was the aggressor or not. At the end of the day - as a figure of speech given it was the end of the day - it didn't matter so long as the culprit was apprehended and the stolen eggs returned. There was also the other side of the fact she was mostly just making sure the city boy didn't get himself lost on the ranch trying to help the Andersons, too. If he didn't need help in battling, she wasn't planning to get involved; Sage and Tilia weren't healed from their match and would need to rest before she could be comfortable in actually getting them into a fight. It was just good to know she had made the right assumptions and hadn't led her Pokémon astray on any of the information she provided them.

Sage and Faye slowed to a walk as they approached the edge of the ditch to really get a good view of what was happening. Tilia flew down and landed on Faye's shoulder when she put a hand on her hip. "Well, I wasn't exactly coming to get into a fight, but I certainly will end one if you aim to start back up." Faye kept an even, matter-of-fact tone and a straight face as she spoke. It was the honest truth. She didn't want to fight, but she'd aim to end it quickly if she had to get involved.

Now that she had a better look at the situation - and the fact the two Pokémon she could still see clearly belonged to Tristan while the other one was gone - she realized it was kind of a waste to come find him aside from just making sure they both got back to the main part of the ranch. Though it also gave her a chance to see what other Pokémon he had with him now. He caught a riolu? Maybe she underestimated how good a trainer he might actually be. He'd come off as a pompous ass, but if he could catch a riolu his first outing, perhaps that was all just a show. Whatever the case - she supposed it was wrong to let her base a lot of assumptions about him as a trainer on his little speech in the lab.

She pulled out a piece of paper and a pen from her pocket and wrote a quick note: Tristan caught the thief. On our way back. She offered the paper to Tilia. "Bring this to Rosa's dad; he'll likely appreciate the update. We'll catch up shortly," she whispered to the green owl looking Pokémon still seated on her shoulder. The rowlet hooted again and took the paper in her mouth before flying off.

Faye's attention turned back to the pair in the ditch after Tilia was safely on her way back to the farmhouse. "Now, then - if you need help out I'll give you both a hand. Otherwise, climb on out. It's about time you two head back to full put this matter to rest." She even offered her hand out as a sign she meant what she said, but was cautious enough to make sure she properly braced her feet as to not so readily get pulled off balance in case either decided to be jerks about it. Sage, much for not having anything to do in this particular situation, just kept an eye on their surroundings to make sure no danger came upon them while the group worked to get moving.

Faye Wrexlyn

Faye wasn't sure Mr. Anderson was going to accept her offer. He was right. Just walking onto the ranch gave a much larger scale than she was expecting. She'd gone to farms with her father, but they were far smaller; hell, she was starting to question whether they were actual farms or just homesteads just big enough to run as ranches. He was right. Without knowing where the priss might have run off to, there was no proper way to track him down aside from showing Tilia and Sage his picture, and hoping they could find him in a search.

But then he seemed to think of something. The young trainer blinked and watched him thud off to the house. He was in favor of her helping, so while he was gone, she knelt and dug through her backpack to fetch her flashlight. It wouldn't do to go tromping off and not be able to see if it got even darker before she could find him. Next she called Sage and Tilia from their pokeballs. "Alright you two. I know you're both probably still a bit tired, but I don't think we'll need to do much fighting. I just need you guys to help me find someone that may be a bit lost." She stood and fixed her pack back on as the mountain of a man came back out with fancy looking shoes.

At least her hunch was right. Unlike everyone else that had worn sensible footwear to go trekking off on foot from town to town and through the forests and mountains between - the boy from out of region had worn shoes barely fitting for walking around a mall in much less going hunting problems on a ranch. She'd stepped in Tauros patties before, it would suck but these were not new sneakers and she could clean them with a bit of elbow grease if need be.

Faye offered Mr Anderson a confident smile. "Now I'm more than sure we can." She pulled out her phone and scrolled back a few pictures before zooming in on a picture and showing it to Tilia. "This is the guy we're looking for - he has a shiny Murkrow so if you see signs of purple feathers we may know we're on the right track too. See if you can spot him from overhead. You'll be able to see further ahead of us but can follow Sage where he leads." She stood, then looked to Sage who had already gotten a good smell of the shoes. "Ready?"

Sage yipped and started smelling around to catch where the wayward trainer had gone. "We'll help make sure he isn't lost out there and help him finish what he's started. This is in good hands." The young trainer waved to the rancher as she started to follow her Eevee. Tilia flew up into the sky to help follow along overhead while watching for signs of the silver-haired trainer or his Murkrow.

The scowl on her face cut deeper lines, but she made pains to not actually wince. Even if her hands weren't bound together, Kali had no intentions of reaching toward the hand holding her hair and forcing her to look at him. That might just give him some level of satisfaction that he did, unfortunately, have control over the situation. She wasn't happy to have given up a single ounce of control, but this whole thing was one unexpected complication after another; it had been ever since the fucking village and her initial plan going sideways. It left her at his mercy - or lack there of, given the prick seemed to be enjoying this. That mercy brought her back to her feet with the pull of her hair and his hand pressed against her throat.

It took every micron of will she had to not turn away and flinch as he spat his words in her face. If it wasn't for her bracing her feet and his grip on her face, she'd have lost her balance as he roughly handled her restraints. He could smirk and smile and be confident all he wanted. He could think he held all the cards, but the only reason he had any winning hand here was the shackles on her wrists. The slimy fox may have been annoying, but he had been smart enough to take away her main advantage. They could go toe to toe until they were exhausted in a physical battle, but he wouldn't stand any more chance than the other chores that came after her if it wasn't for these. He may have been beaming with confidence, but even he had to understand his upper hand was only for so long. She would recover her fire, and she would get out of these cuffs. It was only a matter of time.

It was all long shots. The best she could hope for is summoning up enough strength to just break free of the cuffs and get away from him while he wasn't looking. The odds he'd let his guard down enough for her to strike a second time was dismal. At least he was suggesting she recover some magic to heal. That was about all she could do at that moment. Sit there, bide her time, wait for the inevitable.

At least her claims weren't all bluff. Something deeper in the forest's growing darkness roared to confirm her claim. A tiny smirk curled onto her face, barely an upturn of one corner of her lips, when he threatened to leave her to the mercy of the beasts awakening to hunt. It was amusing he thought some common Vulcan or wyvern would get the best of her. Maybe he would be lucky, but she liked her odds - even if he left her bound. Her smirk only grew as he dug his nails in to claw her cheek. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of making her wince just because he wanted to be a sadistic prick. "If you like going back as a failure - no scrapes to show for any effort to capture me - then by all means just leave me here to get eaten. I'm easy prey, right now, right?"

Kali bit it back, but a wince and grunt accompanied her hard landing on her ass when he shoved her. Served her right for being cocky, but whatever. She'd heal up eventually. She always did. Especially if the dumb fox was outright telling her to and offering to make a fire. The fire would certainly help her recover. Hopefully he knew how to make one. Whether it signaled to the more dangerous beasts and bandits in the forest to their location, or just staved them off would yet to be seen. She sighed, resting her back against a nearby tree to help support her upright. She closed her eyes and tilted her head back against the tree.

While it may have looked like the Firebird was letting her guard down, it was far from the truth. She simply shut off one sense to help focus on the others. The feel of the air around the area - reaching to sense any approaching magics that might come with Vulcan, Wyvern, or mages - was fine, for now. She didn't hear anything approaching - yet. Just the noisy way he gathered sticks. As pained as she was to admit it - and she certainly wouldn't do it aloud - he had the better hearing and was, currently, better equipped to handle any threats that came their way. She was determined to put up a fight, but for now. Fucking prick. Izu was right. She needed to just sit and rest to not hurt herself further. Play nice...as hard as it was for her. She'd rather sit in silence, anyways. The prick could do enough talking for the two of them for several lifetimes if he wanted to. She was more content on her own, and as loath as she may be to give him the satisfaction of getting his way, she'd rather not bother wasting any more breath trying to convince him she was being set up.

Faye Wrexlyn

Rosa offered for her to walk with them, and Faye certainly appreciated it. While she would have been just as fine walking by herself to the ranch, she was happier to pass the time chatting with the two ranch girls. Not necessarily about life on their ranch, but just Pokémon in general. They seemed to spend just as much time - actually, more time truthfully - around Pokémon and it was always nice to chat about something people had in common. Some of the ones she saw were ones she expected, though not fully interested in any of them. Until she saw the torchic; her eyes lit up seeing the little chick walking around their coop. She hadn't heard of anywhere else in the region she could get one of those. That likely meant they cost a very handsome sum.

But the chaos around kept her from dwelling on that fact for very long. Given how her two companions reacted, she assumed this wasn't normal. Something was wrong and it sounded like - if her memory served - they were trying to hunt a Ditto that someone's pokemon had marked. Magenta feathers? The girls' father - she assumed it was their father given his attention full stop shifted to the sisters when they arrived - came over and looked a mix of relieved and panicked. But he said they'd hired a trainer, and given the feathers...well she was making a huge assumption but it might just be the pompous, posturing priss that she'd seen helped out of Kapoc's lab earlier that day.

"I'll catch up with you in a bit," Faye said as Rosa dragged Lisa off to the house. Her attention turned back to their father as he refocused on her as well. Not entertaining guests, but... "I know you said you hired another trainer to help, but since you don't know where he is - I can help. Like Rosa said, I'm a trainer too. Sounds like it might help you guys out to secure the ranch - make sure this shape changing Pokémon doesn't cause any more problems for you. My Rowlett could fly around, see if she sees anything like you described. Or my Eevee might be able to help track down where the trainer went to help him out."

Faye Wrexlyn

Faye laughed softly. "No no, of course not. I'd get parental consent for that." While Rosa started herding the kids, Faye started taking pictures of the kids having fun fooling around as they started. She could always go through and delete ones that just didn't look okay, but she liked the expressions some had as they tried to get their pokemon settled along with them when she started helping give instruction. Eventually they all got settled for long enough that she got a picture that was perfect.

"Excellent. Thank you, all! Here," she pulled out a business card with her information on it and offered it to the farmgirl. "Rosa, next time I stop by my house in King's Cross I can get this printed and developed, then I'll mail out prints to you to give to all of them. But I could transfer a copy to you right now if you wanted to print them yourself. Just need to your email or phone number, and I can send it over to you."

She laughed softly and waved off the apology. "Oh it's fine. I started off with helping take family pictures for neighbors and such. Kids can be fidgety but that was better than some of my photoshoots. So are you guys hanging here still or were you going to come with me? You said your family ranch was that way, right? Plan to stop in to check it out on my way to the Pokemon Daycare that's supposed to be around here too."

If Rosa gave her the information, she'd stay long enough to get the photo transferred to the other teen.
If the group decided to stay where they were, Faye would part ways with them and head on her way to Frida's Ranch. If the group wanted to join her, she'd happily accept their company for her walk back to the ranch.

Faye Wrexlyn

"That still sounds fun. My dad works with Pokémon, too. He helps Nurse Joy run the Pokémon Center in King's Cross, though he mostly works doing house calls and running the errands between Centers and such. I considered following in his footsteps, be a Pokémon doctor too, but he says I have too much wanderlust. Can't say he's wrong." Faye laughed softly. Even when she accompanied him on when he went off to other locations on tasks by the Joys, she always ended up wandering off to see the sights and explore. No, a job that kept her in one place wasn't for her.

But she'd definitely be stopping by that ranch on her way down the road to find the Daycare. Maybe one of Rosa's parents or one of their ranch hands would know what kind of Pokémon egg she had been given. It would certainly save her a trip to the Daycare before heading off into the forest, but that didn't mean the Daycare wouldn't be on her list. The list was already being rearranged, so why not jumble it further? No harm in getting sidetracked.

When they got back to see the kids had recovered the Wooloo, Faye felt like a weight had lifted from her shoulders. At least the Pokémon was fine and safe. "Oh, yes, I did manage to catch the Rowlett. Though, Mr. Hoot is actually a girl, so I renamed her Tilia. Sage and Tilia had quite the bit of a battle, so they're both resting in their Pokeballs right now, though." She offered the kids a grin. "But I wanted to make sure you guys got the Wooloo back safe, and say thank you for the tough competition to get the opportunity to capture her. So, as a thanks, I wanted to offer to do a bit of a professional photo shoot for you guys with your Pokemon." She looked at Rosa. "If that's okay with you, as their current caretaker."

Faye Wrexlyn

The ball hit and sucked the Rowlet in. The fear she may have overthrown or underthrown or missed her aim at least subsided. But now was the anxiety of watching it roll. Once, twice, a third time....It settled to denote a successful capture.

"Yes!" the exclamation came with a fist pumped jump into the air before Faye ran over and scooped Sage up into a hug. "That was amazing, and we officially have our first new member." She couldn't stop grinning. A quick spin with Sage later, and she put her Eevee back down and collected her newly caught Pokémon ball.

She looked back at the girl that had lead her to the Pokemon, almost as if she just realized the girl was still there when she spoke up. Her joyful grin turned a bit sheepish at the girl's first statement. "Yeah, I'll be honest. I wasn't entirely certain I was going to capture it," she gave a sheepish laugh and rubbed the back of her head. The smile came back when the girl seemed to brighten up and introduced herself. Faye accepted the handshake, swallowing a wince as she tried (and failed) to match the grip. "Nice to properly meet your acquaintance, Rosa. As I said before, my name is Faye Wrexlyn. This is...kinda my first day as a trainer."

Which reminded her...her new Pokemon needed to be checked to make sure it was still okay enough to continue forward instead of needing to go back to Grand Glory to heal both of them up. Sage was hurt but if both looked about the same, they could wait to see if the Daycare maybe had a healing station before she really made up her mind to backtrack. She released the Rowlet from it's pokeball. The Rowlet fluffed its feathers, giving a full body shake with its wings spread to help settle everything back down. "Hoot hoot." She flapped her wings again before flighting up to land on Faye's offered arm.

"You're not a boy though, so Mr Hoot doesn't quite fit, huh?" "Hoot." Faye tapped her finger to her chin. "I think Tilia would be a good one. How about it?" The rowlet tilted her head a little, looking Faye up and down for a second before ruffling up and settling its feathers again with another hoot.

Faye turned her attention back to Rosa. "Frida's Ranch? Like, a Pokemon ranch? That's pretty cool. What's it like on a Pokemon ranch? Ooo, what kind of Pokemon do you guys raise there? How much further down the road is it?" She stopped herself before another question tumbled out of her mouth. "Sorry for the questions, but I'd love to get to actually see a ranch with my own eyes before I continue on my way. I was gonna head off to the Daycare nearby to see if they could identify an egg I was given in Grand Glory. But, first, I think I should still go check to make sure those kids got their Wooloo back. I'd feel awful if any of them got hurt getting him back after Sage knocked him down that hill." She returned Tilia and Sage to their Pokeballs to rest up. "We can head back to check on them together," she offered.

Whether Rosa decided to stay where she was or join her, Faye started off to go check on the kids and their Pokemon. She'd also still wanted to offer to take pictures in her semi-professional manner of each of the kids with their Pokemon - and maybe get a picture with them as a commemoration for her first official battles - as thanks for the opportunity to capture a rowlet.

If she hadn't been following a scent, Nyssa likely would have found her way to the fight just from the streams of foot traffic. That was helpful, as a woman with too much flower smell and a man that smelt too heavily of a weird mix of smoke, pine, and cinnamon made her sneeze and snuffle. Those two very overpowering scents clogged up her nostrils too much to keep tracking the smell from Ariel's not-mate. By the time she couldn't track by scent, the crowd and commotion helped keep her moving in the right direction.

Not long after, she heard the sound of the fight over the roar of the crowd. Everything about this was far too loud, but her own curiosity drove her forward despite the instinct to stay away from the noise. She ducked into an alley - merely because it was the only space she could see that didn't mean potentially getting elbowed when shifting back into human form - and transformed back. She'd started to step out before remembering the dress and slipping it back on. Not many would likely pay her much mind, they all likely would be focused on the display of magic from these Phoenix Wing members, but she didn't want to cause Ariel (and by extension Ariel's friends) any embarrassment walking around without proper attire.

It took little time to weave her way through the crowd to find her way up to a spot in the stands to watch the show. Her eyes lit up watching the way the four moved around each other and squared off. It was almost like they performed a ritual dance. The attacks and dodges and carefully aimed hits. And - Oh, wow - she'd only heard about slayer breath through stories told by the elders. An elated smile spread more on her face, eyes gleaming with excitement, the more she watched.

The battle seemed to wind down. Nolan walked off the stage as the others were finishing up and ending the competition with a speech. The fox girl shot to her feet and wove through the crowd still watching the other three to follow after him. He seemed to be heading somewhere quieter, which was great because the din of the celebration and magical display was drowning out her ability to hear pretty much anything else. Besides, if she got lost but at least found him, then she would be with someone that knew who she was and could help her get back to where she might be able to meet up with Ariel again. "Nolan! Wait up! Can I ask you questions? You have foreign magic and I would like to learn more about it," she called out as she tried to catch up.

"I will be sure to announce myself next time," the stoic mage said quietly. Markovis knew that Jasmine startled (rather easily as Neil would put it) and it had not been his intention to catch her off-guard. He also hadn't anticipated her cleaning any of the pans he'd dirtied to make the food. He considered explaining how he was going to clean everything before heading out - proper to do it right away than let it all cake on and be more work to get off later - except she already did the work. She likely knew she didn't have to take care of his mess, and it was just a waste of time to tell her he planned to take care of it himself. Better to just settle for a proper acknowledgement of her efforts. "Thank you taking care of that."

While he didn't quite care for watching a fight, he was interested in seeing magic on display. He'd only heard about what the others could do, and while he knew what Nolan could do, he was still interested to see their magics at work. It was an entirely different thing to see magic being used than to read or hear about it. His own magics were much different in practice than in study. Besides, it would be interesting to see Darkness magic in action to compare it to his own dark magic; both were misunderstood, but he had a feeling Rose's darkness was safer, even if she was more powerful. Sword magic was something he hadn't seen before; again, it was something he had read about which meant he still had yet to see it in practice. The power of a god slayer was always great to see - yet another occasionally misunderstood magic - and there had only been one occasion he had seen Nolan use his magic in the year and a half he had been with the guild, and that wasn't even much of a display. Then legendary Phoenix Slayer -

Markovis's gaze dropped to the hands gripping his tightly as soon as he felt the touch. He froze in place, unable to force himself to pull away from the contact but at the same time unable to bring himself to interrupt her rambling. He wanted to focus back in on thinking of the magic but...it had taken a while to be comfortable enough to not freeze up when Neil gave him one armed embraces. Rajah had broken through his discomfort by sheer force; he had to adjust or he would never have been capable of existing in the guildhall while the flying feline was around. Being comfortable touching hands with Jasmine and even Trinity was still a work in progress. He thought he'd made it further than this, but obviously not.

Of course, when the water dragon slayer seemed to become aware of her actions, she looked mortified in her embarrassment. Her face went brighter red than he ever remembered seeing it. Why was she blushing so much? It was just their hands. But then, he supposed maybe she was uncomfortable with physical contact with others too. He wasn't mortified by it. It just threw him off. "No apology necessary." He'd get comfortable enough with contact, eventually.

For now, he wiped his hands on his shirt before clearing his throat. "That would be fine. It can be self-serve." He realized after he said that how it might sound. Would she take it like negatively or would she realize he didn't mean to sound like he was taking back his original offer. He moved to start packing everything onto a cart to make it easier to transport it to the festival. "We can at least walk there together, even if you become absorbed in watching the spectacle." Not that he needed the escort, but Jasmine would likely fair better with one.

With everything gathered and the dragon slayer in tow, Markovis lead the way - more that he started walking without any further indication he was going to leave and Jasmine awkwardly hesitated before following along - out of the kitchen before they walked side by side on the way to the event. Much to his standard nature, he silently listened to Jasmine go back to elaborating and rattling on about the magics the four S-Class mages had and the last times she had seen them in action. His magic keeping all of the food the right temperature was so passive, it took barely any thought to get the spells started much less maintain them; almost as natural as breathing at this point.

The crowd built up to watch the fight was definitely not his scene. He had no intention of actually taking a seat in the bleachers like the rest, but there was no way to see without doing so. He stopped at and set up the food with a sign noting it was free for anyone that would like it (and a smaller one listing ingredients in case anyone had food allergies and needed to check for that,) before simply following Jasmine to a seat simply because that was easiest. He tried to listen if Jasmine spoke, but he only partially could hear her over the cheers of the crowd and being overly conscious of how close other people actually were to him right then.

It was impressive to see the display put on by the guild's acknowledge strongest mages. Perhaps later, when there wasn't so much commotion and noise to compete with, Jasmine and he could actually hold a proper conversation regarding the powers they saw. It was an quite the sight, but it certainly wasn't something he would ever agree to. As it stood, he was mildly surprised Nolan agreed. This didn't seem like the slayer's scene any more than it was his own. It was also a pretty needless use of magic just to remind the people of Magnolia that there was a magical guild in town. Like people in Magnolia had stopped hiring out Phoenix Wing in the past year.

Still...it was pretty intriguing to watch the spells in practice. But when he saw the fight was wrapping up, Markovis figured it was about time to head back to the guild. At least that way he could leave without having to fight or follow a stream of people to go where he wanted to. "Jasmine, did you want to stay longer?" He could explain his side, of wanting to leave now before the crowd came to them, but what was the point. He could tell her he was leaving without her if she wanted to stay.

Staying or leaving - it didn't matter as a monstrous form rising from the ground near the city shook the stadium. He stood to see it better. Well that was certainly worth some effort. Despite the new threat and chaos exploding around them, his voice was as impassive as ever, "Nevermind. Are you fighting or helping people get safe?" He knew which one he was actually capable of doing.

Interactions: someone that might be in Wolven Pyre guildhall @Cello

They spoke for what felt like forever. Truly, based on the way the sun moved through the sky and the shadows shifted in the living room, it must have only been an hour or so. Not long enough to truly have Anthony missing from his expected return to the guild, nor for Ria to feel in any rush to get rid of company.

Ria shared her story, but left out - as Anthony noticed the more she spoke - anything that she might not enjoy. Large patches of the past three years were missing; nothing major...just what happened to her between the time he was in limbo up until she arrived in Fiore. That was at least a year of her life missing and she just glossed over most of it. Fine, if she wanted to only focus on the good, he wasn't going to ruin it just yet. It made things a bit easier really, that he didn't have to adjust tactics much in dealing with her. He missed the easy interactions like this. Some of the others in the guild were easy to read.

It was incredible to have him back. One weight felt like it lifted from her shoulders, but it left an entirely different hollow pit in her chest. Listening to everything he had been through, what he had done in the years since they last saw each other, hurt. It hurt to hear how he survived in spite of her; he didn't say it that way, but she felt like that was how he meant it.

"You should consider coming with me."" "What?" Ria blinked in confusion at the offer.

Anthony smiled softly, shifting forward a bit in his seat to close some of the gap between the two of them. "I get it, you are nervous about joining a guild, but you might enjoy meeting some of the people I work with now. You would adore Zhulie and Meredith, and I'm sure Priscilla would let you join even if you hesitate to use magic. Meredith or Priscilla might even help you more than I ever did in feeling comfortable using your magic again."

"I'm not nervous. I just - I can't. Anything more than a rainstorm - it's just not possible." Ria looked down at her hands, forcing her grip to loosen from the death grip she had on the tea cup. "It would be impractical for me to join a mage guild and not be able to actually do much more than a water a garden."

"Meredith doesn't cast magic. She lost her ability to before I ever joined. You could help her around the guildhall if you wanted. Please consider it. She tends the greenhouse and I'm sure she would love the assistance in keeping the plants lush." He stood, offering out his hand. "Just come meet them, and if you are certain it is not your scene, I'll bring you home."

Ria sighed. Where was the harm? Chores were done. Painting was drying. She could always head into the town proper to browse the bookstore tomorrow instead. A soft smile spread on her face as she raised her gaze to meet his. With a nod, she took his hand and stood. "Very well." She took his cup and dish and brought them into the kitchen to clean everything up before it stained.

Shortly after, they set off. Kyros waited outside the fence, patiently watching for his partner and this mystery woman to appear. His golden eyes watched Ria hesitate, but once Anthony called him to his side with a thought, the large lion approached and sat once again. That golden gaze studied the water mage as she considered him in return, before she finally reached out and cautiously stroked his fur before running her hands through his mane. Acquainted with the lion, the trio set off again.

Until the ground shook.

Ria lost the smile she had gained, looking around. The pit fell out of her stomach as she saw a monstrous demon rising up to loom over Shirotsume between them. She froze in place, eyes locked on the thing. "A-" she couldn't get more of out.

Anthony was staring at the same thing she was. A scowl firmly fixed on his face. "Yup. That certainly looks like a demon..." He pulled out a Call card from his deck - the one that connected to one he left behind the bar in the Wolven Pyre guildhall. There was certainly someone there; it was almost unheard of for the guildhall to be completely empty. "Look, I have to go help with that. You should come help, even if it is to help get people to safety. I'll see if I can get anyone else from Wolven Pyre to help too." His gaze shifted to Kyros. "Go help protect the guildhall and roar if there's a problem."

The lion simply turned and ran into the forest. Anthony, meanwhile, kept hold of the card - Come on, someone pick up - as he started running toward the town. Ria couldn't move, she wanted to but she couldn't. People she knew where in danger, and all she could do was watch in terror as it the demon started toward their homes; her heart pounded in her chest and threatened to strangle her. But she couldn't move.
