@Keksalot@TaliPaendrag@Jay Kalton Wunderbar!

Im off to work on the OOC now. Hopefully I'll have it up tonight but if I don't I'll make sure its up tomorrow night. And if its not up tomorrow night I give you all permission to throw whatever large heavy object at me you like.
@Chaotic Chao@LadyRunic Excellent!

I'll start working on all of the ooc stuff after work.
@Mr Allen J That is where I posted it all those years ago so its quite possible. Unfortunately I barely remember what I ate yesterday so sadly I cant remember who was in it, only vague ideas of peoples characters.

@TheWizardLizard Glad to hear it! Not the other rp not getting off the ground part.
Life is incredible in its un-predictableness. For centuries the idea of psychic powers were scoffed at. Those who showed any small inkling towards a supernatural or unexplainable power were labeled witches, freaks, monsters…and were often times killed in order to keep the “normal” population safe. But not even humans are able to stop the ever constant force of change. It was only a matter of time until humanity changed again, and it was a more fantastic change then most could even imagine.

The year is 2056. While technology has changed, it still looks remarkably close to the way it looked 40 or 50 years ago. There are no flying cars, no jet packs, and no personal space crafts to travel from one side of the galaxy to another in the blink of an eye. The world seems to be a bit brighter, but that is only because most of it has been filled with lights and billboards that light up the night sky, whether you want them too or not. Little of the natural world has been left untouched. Now the only place you can find exotic plants or animals are in zoos or museums. Food is mass produced in order to provide enough for the billions upon billions of people that now inhabit the earth. The population of earth has grown substantially, some believe it’s almost to its breaking point. Perhaps that is why those with incredible psychic abilities seemed to materialize so quickly, so that the strong could prevail.

The “psychic phenomenon,” as it is often called, only seemed to appear about 30 years ago. People began to demonstrate strange abilities. At first, there was chaos. Most had no real control over their powers, some would read all of the thoughts of an entire room, unable to pick out their own amongst the clutter. Others would move objects with only a thought, and still some stranger..and at times, far more horrible, accidents would occur. These new psychics were at first considered threats, dangers to society…. Monsters. But one man, one seemingly ordinary man, worked continuously to change that stereotype. His name was Dr. Veinder, and though he seemed to possess no supernatural powers of his own, he worked tirelessly on the behalf of the newly discovered psychics. He argued that these powers were not something to be feared, but embraced and studied. He theorized that one day, all of humanity would have these strange and incredibly powers, and showed that through training and the miracles of modern technology, that these powers could be harvested and used to create a better future for humanity.

And so, with the aid of governments from around the world, Dr. Veinder created the Institute for the Exceptionally Gifted, a 50 square mile island, where all those who had these incredible powers could come and learn how to control them. The Institutes technology is top of the line, and since it has funding from governments all across the world, tuition is free for all those who possess these special gifts.

Of course, there are those who would seek to use these powers for darker purposes. In some places these psychics are considered weapons, tools of war. There are also those with these special abilities who would wish to use their powers in order to gain more, in order to rule. But none of that is of any concern too you just yet. For right now, you are a student at Dr. Veinder’s Institute for the Exceptionally Gifted. Perhaps you are just starting out, or perhaps you have already been attending the school for several years now. The school is home to people of all ages, ethnicity, and beliefs. The beginning of the new semester is almost upon us, make sure you’re ready.

This is a reboot of an rp I started back in 2013 that started out strong but due to complications on my end never really got going. However, I would like to give it another go and any who are interested are more then welcome to come aboard.

A few quick things:

First: not everyone on the island is a student, although most are there to either learn to better use their abilities or are seeking refuge from the likely hostile masses. The psychic abilities can appear in anyone, so what age your character is doesn't really matter.

Second: I know it sounds like X-men, really I do, but the ways that the powers manifest are different and that will play an important role in the future of this rp (possibly). Also anything that has to do with schools and strange abilities kind of sounds like X-men so what can I do? Anyways I just wanted to make sure you know I know this fact since last time it got pointed out to me....alot :)

Third: The more creative you are with your powers the more I will love you and sing your praises to our lord and savior Cthulhu. There are a lot about the characters abilities that I need to reflesh-out but feel free to start thinking about them now. Obviously nothing that destroys the planet by blinking, as that makes for a very boring roleplay.

That's it for now. All who are interested should let me know so I can see what kind of numbers I'm working with. This roleplay will probably always stay open so no one need worry about that.
Sadly yes, that and I haven't gotten internet at my new apartment yet so all I have is my phone. Hopefully that'll be taken care of soonish.
I've been trying and failing to get something posted but I'm moving Monday so I'm going to try again to get a post up. Writers block has been plaguing me.
@FrozenEcstasy But of course, I would be more then happy to do some plotti.... collaborations :)
@Sawdust I see you're buying up a lot of Greek real estate. We should talk sometime ;D

Well that's partially because it's the only mythology I know even the barest amount about xD. But it's also very nice real estate. Prime location, low prices. Who could resist?
<Snipped quote>

Based on the people who have replied to the thread so far, not counting the hosting team, we have about five players. While that should be enough to get the game going at a decent speed, I encourage you guys to each try to think of some other characters you can make. These characters can be more minor, as said in the opening thread, and less detailed than your "major" characters, but it's still better to fill up the factions a bit more and have more interaction opportunities.

I have an idea for Hercules and a partner for him if no one else wishes to take Hercules.
