I don't remember discussing an ability to teleport only a single part of himself... I don't even remember that being implied.
That you did. My bad. I would also like to apologize for all the errors in my previous post. I'm writing from my phone. >_<
You've already allowed provision where a soul and spirit can each exist without the other (in the cases of resurrected minions and zombies), so personally I don't think it would be too big of a stretch for his soul to temporarily part with his spirit. That would also mean that he would still have access to the raven's spirit, allowing him to use its instincts in order to fly (because let's face it, learning how to fly without have a bird's instincts would really suck). It would also explain why there would be a range or time limit on the possession, since having he spirit separate from be soul for too long would be detrimental to both.
Max, wouldn't the retrieval of the weapons and return to his original spot require at least two teleports in a single post? He'd have to materialize in order to grab the weapons, then initiate a second teleport to return to where he was.

Does this Vincent need a bodyguard? xD That's my characters current profession, since I essentially claimed in my own bio that raiding has come to a moratorium since the line of succession came into question and strife and division plague the D'Cerf coven. And regarding the explanation of your ability, I have no problems with it. @Ichthys: I'll modify the bio when I wake up and pm you when the changes have been made.

He certainly could use a bodyguard of Atlas' ability, though he may not get to use that giant sword as much as you were probably hoping.
Nemaisare said So, who would our characters be watching or paying attention to or toadying up to or making problems for? Do we have names?

Well, Vincent for one. Once I finish and post his bio it'll be explained better, but essentially he would be the first "in line" to take over (going off what I gathered from Ichthys in our PM convo), but refused when some of the other nobles tried to put him on the throne. Whether his refusal is genuine or just another ploy in the game of kings could definitely be a point of contention and uncertainty that other writers could play off of, since he didn't officially abdicate.
He would completely submerge the object in a pool of water, then recite his incantation/perform his rituals (I haven't really decided which yet) and the surface of the water would either smooth itself and reveal an image or rise out of the bowl/container to form the person and their surroundings (though again, I'm undecided which way to go). The significance of the object itself is that it must have some level of resonance with the person's soul, and that resonance is created by physical contact, or as you suggested great sentimental value combined with proximity. This would also mean that he couldn't scry animals, since they have no souls (just a side note).

Regarding the time it takes for the resonance to wear off, it would depend on how attuned the item was in the first place. If they only touched it once for a few seconds, he would have roughly that amount of time before it became useless, so it would more or less be a 1:1 correlation. The time could be reduced, however, if the item came into the possession of someone else, as it would then begin the process of developing a resonance with that new person's soul, erasing the resonance with the first as it did (so just him having the object to use for scrying would accelerate the decay of the resonance).
@Milieu: I think there should be allowances. He wouldn't be able to see people just standing behind a wall or a mile away, but if those people were preparing a spell to resurrect an entire graveyard, I imagine it would stand out like a beacon to him (though even the allowances would have limits).
More or less. As long as he can't see through walls at will, I'm happy. Lol. As I mentioned before, I think that's the main thing that would make it OP. Having 360 degree vision is advantage enough. :P
While we're on the subject of controversial abilities, what would be your opinion of scrying? I'm thinking it would be an interesting ability for Vincent (my character in progress) to have.

The restrictions for his particular variation of the ability would be that it requires one of the possessions of the person being scryed, and the more contact that person has had with the object, the clearer the scrying would be. If he did it with an object they only touched once, it would be little more than haze and a vague location, but if it was a piece of jewelry they never took off, he'd be able to see and hear everything going on in their vicinity with perfect clarity. He wouldn't initially be able to view past events, but he'd likely be working on a way to achieve that somehow (though he wouldn't succeed for a very long while, if at all. It would be up to you).
