Nikou - Hyrule Castle City, Inner Wall District
As the Rito magician agreed to help him, Nikou looked back at the crowd behind him. They seemed to be urging the Rito for an encore, some whispering how they wished the zora would get out of the way. How long had they been there...? Nikou shook his head; it didn't matter what they thought, seeing as what he was doing was much more important than some street entertainment. After a bit of thought, though, the Rito soon admitted that he had no idea who the people Nikou was after were-- which was expected, seeing as any accomplice of wanted criminals would never freely say that they had connections to them. Fortunately, though, the Rito seemed to know how to get access to the sewer system, and even offered to lead him to the entrance. Nikou couldn't help but raise his brow in surprise. "Really...? I appreciate it, then."

After packing up whatever he had been using, the Rito started to lead Nikou down through the busy Castle City streets, taking a maze of turns and alleys, even a pit-stop at some food stand (Nikou got a fish skewer because, well, why not?), to get to their destination. The entire way, though, the Rito insisted on rambling about how great the festival was for everyone and what not. It got obnoxious pretty quickly, seeing as he had just spent the entire morning listening to the same stuff from Kota. Before long, Nikou was doubting that they were even going anywhere... It seemed like they past the same shooting game stand for the fifth time. Fortunately, it wasn't some weird prank, and the Rito turned to face Nikou with a smile as they stood in front of a gated sewer entrance in the middle of some obscure alley, conveniently out of the way of any high-traffic area... It seemed sketchy, to say the least. Though, the question of why the Rito magician knew how to get to this specific entrance to the sewer system popped into Nikou's head. Was he a citizen of the Castle City, or did he just happen to know...?

Either way, they had gotten there without any problems and the Rito seemed to be more or less genuinely altruistic about the whole thing. Though his usual stern expression didn't falter, Nikou gave the Rito an appreciative nod. "It's Nikou. He said, taking a moment to observe the appearance of the Rito. It was the first time he'd seen one of their kind in quite a while... "'Kibbe', right? Uh, thanks for the help." He took a step away from the Rito, prepared to part ways, but another thought occurred to him: it would be incredibly helpful to have some kind of back-up, in case things went to shit somehow. His first thought was to go fish Kota out from the crowd somewhere, but that would take far too long and Nikou really doubted they could get back to the entrance in the same night... Before Kibbe could leave, Nikou turned back around and called out to him. "Hey, do you got to be someplace right now? Some back-up would be nice, if you can do more than throw snowflakes at children."

Outside of combat, there's practically no posting rules when it comes to frequency/turns as long as you don't advance GM events by yourself.

Nikou - Hyrule Castle City, Inner Wall District
Nikou straightened his back as the guard captain eyed him for some sign of validity in his statement. The garb was apparently enough proof of his statement, despite the white lie, seeing as the captain merely nodded and started divulging the information. It seemed Nikou's suspicions were pretty much correct-- the Templars were too busy with quelling cultists and serial killers to deal with other crimes. Nikou couldn't help but grin, though, amused by the fact that they were so short on guards that they would just let some Zora guard come in and deal with it.

Either way, the captain took out some papers and read some of the details to him. As he listened, though, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. It was a lot less information than he was hoping for, but if they had a who, where, and when, then they probably wouldn't need "international cooperation" to pursue the investigation. The names were... also disappointing, though. 'Sewer Steve'? 'Gaunt Grant'? He was plenty familiar with all kinds of criminal pseudonyms, but they never failed to be as stupid as ever. Couldn't they ever be something cool...? Regardless, after a short debriefing, the captain signaled for someone to bring out the actual dossiers they had, and Nikou eagerly looked through them.

The first one, Gaunt Grant, was pretty much an enigma due to the lack of any specifics about where the guy could even be. The second one, Sewer Steve, was directly referenced in the interrogation of one of the crime ring workers, though similarly, there was little information to work with. So basically all he had were some nicknames and some wanted-poster info. His first worry was if he would even be able to do this in the short several days he was posted in Hyrule City, especially in tandem with his actual job. This was quickly invalidated by the fact that he could pass anything he found out to the actual guards, so pretty much getting any progress at all was his ultimate goal.

Nikou sighed. While he couldn't take the documents with him, there wasn't much to forget. Before he left to go snoop around the city, however, Nikou looked at some of the information scattered around the guard center. It was mostly standard stuff, like citizen complains and schedules for patrol, but it didn't hurt to look. Though, maybe it'd be a good idea to search around the areas where the guards patrolled the least? The more hidden the place is from the government's eye, the more appealing it would be to a criminal after all... Was this "Sewer Steve" really operating out of the sewer? People hardly ever went down there...

Nikou realized he'd been holding his breath and exhaled harshly. It really wasn't much to go on, and Nikou didn't even know how to even investigate a sewer system. The first step would probably be just to figure out where it even was, though, so he thanked the other guards for their cooperation and walked out of the station. He doubted they would be much help with this for now. It'd probably be best to find someone who looks like they know the backstreets of the Castle City, but that'd be easier said than done due to the sheer magnitude of people who've came to Castle City from all over the kingdom for the festivities.

The first place Nikou thought to look was one of the many market streets filled to the brim with people selling and tourists buying. Though, as he walked with the crowd and looked around, it quickly became apparent it'd be hard to really get anyone to talk; everyone just wanted to enjoy the day, and all the shops didn't want him holding up their business. In fact, he'd even got threatened by some feisty Goron seller who was trying to pawn off sketchy 'fireworks' to the crowd. Nikou's first stop on his investigation was about to get marked up as a failure until one more interesting thing caught his eye.

A Rito street magician was performing for a small crowd, capitalizing on the especially festive tourist crowd. Nikou stopped and watched for a minute, observing the simplistic yet appealing snowflake patterns he was making. It was pretty, sure, but he couldn't help but wonder if that was anything close to any of the mage's true powers. Curious, he waited for a lull in the action and a gap in the crowd to approach.

"Could you put your show aside for a minute? I'm currently on an investigation-- official guard business-- and I need to ask you a couple of questions." Nikou said, though it felt a little awkward to have to look so far down to talk. He was at least a couple feet taller than the grey Rito. Regardless, Nikou showed the street magician the poster he had taken from the notice board. "Do you know either of these men? Or, would you happen to know how to get access to the sewer system of the city?"

@Sho Minazuki Can I write the guard responding in the positive in another post, or should I wait for an update for you or something?
yeah you should dood
Nikou - Hyrule Castle City, Inner Wall District
The hub of Hyrule Castle City was somehow even more busy than it usually was, people of all races and creeds swarming the streets. Banners covered the streets in advertisements for every possible event, and the numerous merchants with their stalls and whatnot constrained the crowded streets even more. This was an annual thing, unfortunately. It was the Hyrule Kingdom Combat Tournament. Nikou usually tried to avoid coming into the city when it was like this, not one for massive crowds of "unfamiliar" people, but of course the stars had to align and force him: the latest posting for him was to escort a fairly famous Zora merchant-politician into the city. It made sense-- the tournament was a huge attraction to everyone in the kingdom, and the festivities were an ideal way to bolster kinship between parties that can later be used to procure better trade agreements. That didn't mean Nikou couldn't bitch about it still, though, especially when he was effectively baby-sitting one of the newer recruits. Though, while Nikou hesitated to follow along for safety concerns, the politician was apparently nice enough to at least let them alleviate the boredom of such a uneventful job by allowing both Nikou and his junior, Kota, to wonder the town a bit while he was resting.

"C'mon, don't you think I could win?" Kota nudged Nikou in the shoulder while beaming at all the posters and people they passed.

"Not really." Nikou sneered. The last time he had sparred with Kota in practice, all of Kota's tells were far too obvious and the boy seemed to think that spinning around a lot was a good strategy for some reason. Any good fighter would capitalize on that in seconds, and there were a lot of those in a fighting tournament surprisingly. "You'd get curbstomped by the first Goron that walked in there with you."

Kota frowned as he put his hands behind his head. "Then why don't you enter? I've seen you sparring with the other guys. You seem pretty good, man."

"Not interested." He scoffed. Watching the tournament was going to have to be enough for the kid, 'cause even that was more than enough for Nikou. If he wanted to see a bunch of sweaty people with too much energy wrestle with eachother, he'd just go back to the barracks.

Soon enough, the two Zora guards found themselves in the City Square, one of the biggest hubs in the entire damn kingdom. Hundreds of people flowed through the streets, though Nikou made special note of the large amounts of guards shifting through the masses. While they would of course watch over the crowds in such a buy event, they seemed even busier than that... It seems like they were scrounging every last guard together. Normally they'd be pretty relaxed about everything seeing as even the military had to take time off and unwind, but it was clear there was something they were particularly concerned about. Of course, Nikou knew of the serial murders that had been making their way through the Castle City, but that wasn't something that threatened the celebration as a whole.

Walking up to the guard outpost out of curiosity, Nikou scanned the notices that had been put up. Most of it was pretty mundane stuff, but a few things peaked his interest. First, apparently some relatively underground Zora singer he liked was reported as wanted for illegal drug possession and trafficking. Secondly though, and likely related, there was a series of ID'd wanted posters for several people heavily suspected of smuggling and distributing illegal product. While he hesitated to call crime entertainment, this was a lot more interesting to Nikou than getting drunk and watching some people punch each other in a pit.

Nikou rubbed his chin a bit, before turning back to Kota. "Looks like they have a new crime ring surfacing... I'm going to go ask about this."

"Aww come on, Nikoouu," Kota whined, "I want to go see the tournament."

"Do you need me to hold your hand or something? You can go yourself, Kota."

"Fine, whatever." With that, Kota took off towards the coliseum in a hurry. It was probably for the best, anyway.

With that distraction gone, Nikou peeled off one of the posters and walked over towards the nearby guard captain in the outpost. Holding up the poster, he spoke with confidence. "I'm a guard from Zora's Domain sent to keep peace in the midst of the celebrations. Seeing as you guys seemed to be stretched thin enough already, could you give me some intel on these criminals so that I could pursue my own investigation?"

Sato could do little else but watch as the Oni barreled past him. It would've been a total relief that they'd managed to dodge the attack, but he quickly realized that Shizuka had not been quick enough to get out of the way in time. Raising its spear, barely not hitting Sato on the back swing, the Oni attacked Shizu with the full force of its charge behind it. Now, there was good news and bad news.

The good news was that Sato had previously put up a Tetrakarn on the entire party, and because they'd been standing in the back, Shizuka still had the shield on her. The magic barrier blocked the blow completely before exploding back into the Oni's face. The bad news, however, was that the Oni resisted the power of its own physical attack and was barely staggered. Sato's heart sank as he watched the Oni take another swing in seconds, again leaving no time for Shizuka to get out of the way. Like a golfer, the Oni reared up, swinging the spear behind its head before sending her flying away, utterly obliterated by the blow. She skidded to a stop a good twenty meters away, Sato guessed. Was she... dead?

Regardless, they couldn't do anything about her until after they finally finished off the Oni. Fortunately, in the time it took for it to take out Shizu, it was left wide open and the rest of the team managed to surround it again. There was nothing left do besides destroy it with one last round of magical destruction. Summoning Chronos again, Sato quickly unleashed a powerful blast of Garudyne.
I'll pursue either the registered criminals or join the tournament, not sure yet. Heck, maybe I'll even go to the shady man...or maybe not.

Same here, sans tournament. Those two seem the most... "serious"? Idk, I just feel like zoras don't care about horses at all.
So now that the quests are posted in the Char tab, which one are you guys thinking about pursuing?
