@Rhiannon I, too, added a bit of backstory to Ethra to cement her as being part of an actual species. Added a natural ability too, but it's up to your jurisdiction if it stays or not.
@Rhiannon Are multiple characters allowed? If not, I'd like to swap Kantus out for an actual student.
Given Name: Ethra Gender: Female Age: 19 Species: Unspecified humanoid-owl type creature
Appearance:
In-Depth Appearance: Ethra stands at 5'5. Her unclothed body is that of a gaunt, pale-skinned, young human female's, with six limbs - two legs morphing into light pink bird feet halfway down the calf, two thin human arms, and two wings covered in white, messy feathers. Brief Personality: Ethra is the reserved sort, someone who normally stays out of others' affairs, though this is not out of shyness - rather, she simply doesn't find merit in most social interactions, preferring to focus on her studies. However, she is keen on observing closeby events when they transpire, be they involving her fellow students or otherwise. She is not oppossed to making acquaintances but, she doesn't go out of her way to make it happen.
Familiar Name: Ersk Familiar Form: Ersk takes the form of a large, hairless, sickly mouse, his body covered in several lesions and tumors.
Supplementary information - Ethra hails from a small, magically sheltered community that consists primarily of nonhuman-looking creatures, some belonging to the same owl-like species as her. She enrolled in Silverspell by the blessing and monetary grant of her extended family, who recognized her desire to explore and learn more about the supernatural world. Of course, not her entire family feels such an education is even necessary, but she pays them no mind.
Given Name: Ethra Gender: Female Age: 19 Species: Bagoyép
Appearance:
In-Depth Appearance: Ethra stands at 6'2, her species naturally being rather tall. Her unclothed body is that of a gaunt, pale-skinned, young human female's, with six limbs - two legs morphing into light pink bird feet halfway down the calf, two thin human arms, and two wings covered in white, messy feathers. Brief Personality: Ethra is something of a reserved sort, someone who normally stays out of others' affairs, though this is not out of shyness - rather, she simply doesn't find merit in most social interactions, preferring to focus on her studies. However, she is keen on observing closeby events when they transpire, be they involving her fellow students or otherwise. She is not oppossed to making acquaintances but, she doesn't go out of her way to make it happen.
Familiar Name: Irsk Familiar Form: Irsk takes the form of a large, hairless, sickly mouse, his body covered in several lesions and tumors.
Additional Information: Ethra belongs to a species of avian-humanoid creatures, bearing likenesses to multiple breeds of owls, known collectively as the bagoyép (a crude fusing of the Hungarian (supposed country of origin) words for owl, bagoly, and folk, nép). They differ from other avian species in that they possess very human-like bodies at their center, complete with working human arms to make up for the poor gripping abilities of their wings. Bagoyép are long-lived, mostly mundane creatures, capable of using magic but taking quite a long time to get the hang of it. They do, however, possess an innate ability to incur complete bodily paralysis in others via focusing of certain muscles connected to their rather large eyes, though this ability is ineffective against most other nonhuman entities. In truth, it rarely works on anything besides humans, as a being with any innate magic in them will be able to resist it relatively easily, only experiencing temporary visual distortion instead of becoming completely paralyzed. Repeated use of this ability is harmful to a bagoyép, and abusing it too much can very likely lead to temporary or permanent blindness.
Ethra herself is a young bagoyép hailing from a small, magically sheltered community of nonhuman folk. She was one of only two bagoyép living there, the other being her adoptive father Kantus, who took Ethra in at the behest of a local orphanage after they found her unhatched egg, alone and abandoned in the wilderness. How she wound up there, and what happened to her biological parents, are both unknown. Kantus raised her up and, when the appropriate time came, saw to her enrollment in Silverspell University, which he had himself attended in his younger years.
Given Name: Kantus Gender: Male Age: 472 Species: Unspecified humanoid-owl type demon
Appearance:
In-Depth Appearance: Kantus stands at approximately 6'5 feet tall. Unclothed, he possesses a gaunt, elongated, pale human body. His legs distend into bird-like feet, and he possesses four upper limbs - two long humanoid arms, and two large, non-functional wings. Brief Personality: Kantus is an aged demon, exhibiting an aura of wisdom, understanding, and some would say 'decay'. He is relatively slow in his movements, though his speech is not the same. He is highly eloquent, manner-minded, and collected when interacting with others. Some have described him as being 'unsettling', but that is primarily due to his appearance.
Familiar Name: Kantus does not possess/no longer possesses a familiar. Familiar Form: N/A
@SepticGentleman That would be a tough stretch as the roleplay will mostly center around dorm life so a teacher wouldn't have much cause to be in the dorms. Perhaps a dorm matron or patron of some sort would work though. There to keep order of sorts, the university takes a very hands off sort of management of students. In the real world they will have to fend for themselves and learn to navigate social politics.
I think I can pull off a dorm patron. Would a uhhhhh, humanoid-owl-demon kind of thing work as a species?
Seems to be going in the direction of supernatural/dark fantasy at the moment...but good natured stuff and basic fantasy elements could always be put in :)
No I mean like, the last two CHAR posts imply there's extremely sophisticated technology, some degree of genetic engineering, and e-mails.
EDIT: Reread the first OOC post. Guess I misremembered the basis of this whole thing. Thought it was just standard fantasy-medieval stuff but with more sophisticated architecture. My bad.
