I'm kind of glad the conversations with my characters got dropped. It's hard to write in a detailed manner when I had to consider my characters were talking to someone much younger than themselves. Unless the child is directing the conversation, I usually don't do anything that would interest them.
Atticus Fowler and Codi Bailey

Atticus tilted his head to one side, “We actually talked to Henry earlier, though we didn’t know about any sort of jungle expedition.” He mused, finally deciding he could probably trust this kid more than he had a few minutes ago. Jaska had him at the mention of isolation; it wasn’t a fun experience, but it was probably worse for a little kid than it was for a couple of teens who had been able to interact with other human beings for much longer. It seemed that Jaska had mutated much earlier in life than Atticus or Codi. “I guess we’re both in this crazy new place together; glad to see we aren’t the only ones a little bit confused about things.” He said, his tone having a warmer, friendlier note in it.

Codi looked around at all the people gathered in the area, “Well, if we don’t know what to do, we could train, although I’m not sure how we go about that. I don’t want to spar, but I'm not familiar with the place." She looked at Jaska, "You said you had siblings, right? Who are they? If they aren't busy, maybe you could introduce us?" She looked at Atticus, "Maybe we could ask Dr. Olin and see if he would let us come with him on the jungle trip, too."

Codi seemed to be pulled into deep thought by Jaska’s statement, and after puzzling for a while, she responded, “Well, we all have animal powers, so in that regard, we are similar,” She said. Her grammar was quite educated, despite the thick southern accent that characterized her voice, “I definitely think that if there was to be a gap between meta-humans, it would be between plant and animal powers, and anything else that didn’t cause you to develop bonds with creatures or their attributes.” The spines of the urchin on her back moved slowly, spreading out with the slow, deliberate movements of a peaceful, resting creature of the deep. She smiled, “Well, at any rate, before we came here, I thought Atticus and I were the only people who wound up like this. At the same time, though, considering we lived in a little town in the middle of nowhere, there was a whole world out there we didn’t take into consideration when we thought that.”

Atticus looked over at her, nodding slightly, before blinking the yellow lenses that now counted as clear eyelids. They came out from the inner part of the eye, instead of the typical up-to-down motion of human eyelids, looking more reptilian or bird-like than anything else. He turned to Jaska, “So, are you a new student, too?” He asked, tilting his head a little to one side. Atticus didn’t like to reveal so much about himself to strangers. Jaska seemed like a nice kid, but even children could be dangerous with information, in the sense that they might tell others.

Codi, now more comfortable now that introductions were out of the way, chimed in, “We arrived here yesterday, but we were just trying to get used to the place before we talked to anyone. Was there something we missed that we should know about?”
I actually went and opened the link for viewing that image. There's an enormous amount of letters on that code.
Posted.

For reference, does anyone want me to post photos of the weird creatures I used as inspiration for my character's powers/looks? Sometimes it helps people visualize the appearance better.

Atticus looked at Jaska, examining him, as the animal meta-human had walked up to him and introduced himself. He hadn’t paid particularly close attention to people other than himself and Codi, although he did actually see as the kid, who he judged to be a much younger age than himself, walked up to them. How this was possible was because there were features to Atticus’ power that weren’t immediately obvious, unless someone had a deep passion for watching documentaries about obscure abyssal fish. Atticus’ eyes in his creature form were extremely good at collecting light, because their internal anatomy consisted of mirrors, as well as lenses, and their unique internal shape and design gave him a dramatically wide scope of vision, just barely short of ranging all the way around his body. Because of this, he noticed Jaska before he had even spoken to him and Codi, because it was hard not to notice when an enormous pair of wings was opened, seemingly for no reason, as not only did it take up a considerable amount of vision, but there was a gust of wind that made the spines on his back twitch.

Atticus decided, though, since he had immediately folded them up, that perhaps he had been stretching them, although Atticus couldn’t relate to whether or not folded wings could become stiff, seeing as he did not possess extra limbs of that nature. The boy was slightly demon-like in appearance, reminding him somewhat of a gargoyle, but by this point, he was not frightened by the sight of another animal meta-human. Anything was possible, and Jaska was no exception to such a rule. Making an active effort to be courteous in his greeting, he nodded, acknowledging the boy, and extending his hand for him to shake, if he wished, Hey, I’m Atticus, and this is Codi.” He said, gesturing to the girl standing next to him.

Codi, always trying to be very friendly and polite, as it was just in her very nature, smiled, “Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” She said, looking a little bit awkward as she did so. It was not anything personal regarding Jaska, so much as the nerves that typically assaulted her when she met new people. If Jaska shook Atticus’ hand, there was little doubt that Codi would offer hers, also. Although Atticus’ greeting was much more cool and reserved, and did not involve a visible change of facial expression, it seemed that both of them might have been glad to have someone to talk to.

Codi nodded in understanding as she looked up at Dr. Olin, her face showing a mix of the general respect a student would have for her teacher, along with confusion at witnessing what appeared to be a woman clinging to his back. The woman was blushing brightly, and whispering in Dr. Olin’s ear, clearly infatuated, although Codi thought Dr. Olin looked uneasy about it, although why was uncertain. She didn’t exactly want to know, because any sort of decidedly ‘infatuated’ behavior in public made her highly uncomfortable. She had also never been in any romantic relationships, and therefore, did not understand anything about them. She also had the sense that she was seeing something that probably should have been kept private, although she had no idea what the woman was saying.

Codi, unsure of how to properly interact in this situation, tried to remain calm, and not hurt Dr. Olin’s feelings by saying something about it. He seemed like a nice person, and he was a chemistry teacher, so no doubt, he might share her love of science. Instead of addressing the presence of the woman, she tried to smile, instead, attempting to respond to only the wisdom of the teacher, “Thank you, Dr. Olin. I think I’ll play Capture the Flag, though. It sounds like fun, and I don’t think I’ve ever played it before, although I know the rules.” She then turned to Atticus, “Let’s go talk to some more people,” She said, exactly following what was suggested.

Atticus showed no visible reaction to the woman who had jumped onto Dr. Olin’s back, although inwardly, he felt that it was a bit crazy for a person to do such things in public. He didn’t let that show, however, and he wasn’t about to judge anyone based on one odd turn of events. He nodded at Dr. Olin, to show respect, and that he didn’t feel too confused by it, before looking at Codi, “Alright, then, I was actually already planning on joining Capture the Flag, but you’re right that we should probably talk to some more people.” He tilted his head to one side, “Just lead the way, you’re better at introductions than I am.”

With this, Codi and Atticus walked away, looking around for more people who happened to be idling about that they could talk to, or hopefully, show that they were open to conversation, and wouldn’t mind being approached by someone else.
Ah, okay, then.

It might be for the best. I don't know how I would react if I was in a dorm-style room with a room mate who could accidentally swat me with a spiky tentacle. That would kind of strike me as a safety hazard.
Okay, so I posted and made my characters talk to Henry.

Allen, if Codi doesn't have a roommate in the dorms, does that mean she has her own room, or is it because he hasn't been matched up with another female character yet? I know I asked this question already, but the OOC is moving really fast, and I don't remember if I saw an answer or not.

When the concept of practicing abilities came up, it was decidedly difficult for any new student to figure out how they could train their respective powers without guidance. Atticus was no exception to the rule, and even though he had the faintest of ideas, he wasn’t about to act on them and make himself look ridiculous. He didn’t know how good his first impression was, when he had already waited an entire full day to make one. Although on one level, he didn’t care what other people thought; he didn’t want them to outright hate him, if he could avoid it. He supposed he should just find someone with abilities that could relate to his on some level, which meant he had to find other meta-humans with animal, super-system, or energy powers.

While he was musing over this, Codi approached, with the enormous, highly-colorful-looking creature sitting on her back that gave her a somewhat tank-like appearance, and forced her to slouch. Sometimes people would think she looked tired, because of her posture, but she was actually energetic, and even smiling a bit, being able to talk to someone she knew. Together, they were a unique matched pair of underwater-themed friends, one seeming to have come from the midnight zone, and the other from a tropical sea. Even though Atticus now looked nothing like a human, having taken on his creature form, Codi was not frightened away by the alien-like appearance of it. In truth, because the suit was so poorly suited to his coloration, it looked wrong on him. It looked wrong on Codi, too, and they both looked brand-new, based on the fact that their suits had no alterations.

Atticus tilted his head at her, the mirror-like eyes catching the light, and flashing red, briefly, before returning to their typical, void-like black that could have gazed into a person’s soul. “I guess we could find someone who would be willing to train with us?” He asked, his voice whisper-like and strange, warped somewhat by the long, snout-like shape of his jaws, while he vaguely prompted Codi for some sort of assurance he wasn’t the only one confused as to what they should be doing. He didn’t show confusion, and it was especially difficult to read on non-human features. Codi, though, was capable of picking up on it.

Codi looked uneasy, “I guess we could ask one of the older students...I’ve never been in this kind of situation before.” She said, her voice having a southern accent. Atticus sometimes spoke with an accent, also, but it usually didn’t appear, because for some reason he typically wasn’t inclined to have one. His words were careful and spaced, slow, like southern speech, but they lacked a drawl

Atticus shook his head, “I haven’t, either.”

He then proceeded to look around, and saw a reptilian meta-human, apparently not having anyone else to talk to. “We could go ask him. He’s a meta with animal powers, so maybe he could relate to some of our skills.” He said, nodding at her.

Codi began playing with her hair again, before nodding, “Okay, that sound’s good.” She said. She then proceeded to slowly make her way over to the lizard-man, who would have towered over her, had the maximum height of Reef sitting on her back not rivaled him. Codi’s actual height was normal, but the creature dwarfed her human-like body. She looked up at him, “Uh, excuse me, sorry to bother you, but my friend and I are new here, and we’ve never trained before. We don’t really know what to do…” She then proceeded to drift off, before looking down at her feet, extremely shy in the situation. She wasn’t scared of the concept that this person looked like a giant reptile, but more because she was shy in meeting new people.

She then proceeded to get over her fears, and looked back up to him, “Could you please help us? I’m Codi Bailey, and this is my friend Atticus.” She said, introducing Atticus as he walked up to stand next to her, eyeing Reef’s arms suspiciously, wondering perhaps if the parasite would try to swat someone. So far, it was being compliant and not doing anything.

Atticus looked at the stranger, “I’m Atticus, nice to meet you.” He said, extending his hand, for the reptile man to shake, if he so pleased. The right hand offered had long, spindly fingers with sharp claws, and webbing between the first joints of each digit.
