Ally pulled out a loaf of bread and lay it on the counter. She glanced around again and identified the toaster, oh what she would do for some toast. It was such a simple food and yet something she hadn't had in years. She moved towards it, placing the bread in the holes and turning it on before heading to the fridge in search of butter. The cool light washed over her as she pulled back the door, how long it had been since she had opened a fridge. She marvelled at the contents for a moment before grabbing the butter and then the jam besides it.

As the other girl entered the kitchen Ally paused mid stride, looking at the food in the her hands and then the concerned look on Rose's face. However she quickly continued with making her toast for it wasn't as if the lady was going to miss a bit of bread, she had all this food, this furniture and this house - what was a bit of toast to her. The sound of the toaster's release signalled the end of the cooking and she rushed over to retrieve them.

She pulled back the lid of the butter and began to spread it on, glancing back at the cheerleader. "Want any toast?" she offered, although it wasn't exactly her food to offer. But all the same maybe someone else eating wouldn't make her feel as bad as helping herself. She was grateful for Dr Douglas kindness and wasn't about to refuse the statement of help yourself to the kitchen even if the others did. Ally hadn't had a meal all day so she thought a few pieces of toast was pretty small in comparison to what she would like to eat here.
Ally had walked a few paces behind the whole way to the car, however she had dropped her shield of shadows altogether now. She was used to using them for frequent, short periods of time but this extended usage was starting to take its toll.

Once they reached the car Ally had paused for a moment, she hasn't been in one for so long. Sure she had been in one as a kid at her foster home but ever since she'd been out on the streets she had not been able to afford nor needed a car.

She carefully climbed in, pulling the door to a soft close next to her before putting on her seatbelt and facing the front. The car had one of them newly cleaned smells and she marvelled at its interior.

She flinched as it roared into life but soon relaxed as they set off. Her gaze was glued to the view beyond the windows, it had been a while since she had last left town, there was never anything outside of it for her to see apart from the odd dealer who would make her travel on a series of buses to reach the destination.

As the car pulled to a stop outside a house Ally moved her gaze back to the woman who had kindly drove them. She realised she still didn't know everyone's names here, neither did they know hers - which still wasn't a bad thing.

She stumbled from the car and followed the woman to her door. As she took a step through the doorway she froze, never had she seen such beautiful interior! The foster home had been nothing like this and it's sleek clarity took her back.

Ally glanced back at the others, wondering whether she should remove her foot ware for the fear of tarnishing the shiny wooden floors. She thought it only polite to do so and quickly slipped her overly worn and grubby trainers off on the mat.

Her stomach rumbled at the mention of the kitchen, she had managed only one meal (if you could call it a meal) for the whole of the day. Despite her earlier thoughts of politeness she wasn't about to refuse the offer of free food and so rushed to find the kitchen.

Once again as she entered her breath was almost taken away at the sophistication of the decor chosen. For a brief moment she felt it would be better left untouched, but her street nature quickly urged her to rage through the cupboards. And so she set to work trying to find something edible.
I'll have a post up soon, sorry for the delay XD

Ally glanced at the guy as he spoke, referencing to her on many occasions as 'shadow girl'. Some part of her wanted to reveal herself, give her name and allow some element of trust to start to form. But her head was more practical and so for now she was happy being one of the shadows.

She stiffened slightly as the guy mentioned revealing more about themselves and joining up as a group. She, however, did not fancy being a superhero. Although she didn't currently hold the best life out on the streets, she wasn't about to jump head first into fake missions to make them feel better about themselves and their powers. He could do without coming in close contact to the cops.

She was about to just turn and slip away when another spoke up. Ally had revealed nothing of herself, her only words barely a hushed whisper to the woman in heels and she doubted that was enough to spark recognition if she was ever in her vicinity.

Ally however fully understood where this woman was coming from, it seemed she too knew the importance of protecting themselves from whatever unknown threats existed. But she didn't exactly like the idea of hunting down the robot that had caused the giant explosion.

She watched as they started to march away and Ally waited in her spot, lingering. Her mind was full of the decisions she had to make, but one thing was clear, if she didn't take the opportunities that were before her then she would never reach a better life away from the streets she had come to call home.

So after a few moments she started to walk after them, dropping her cover of the shadows - partially because she could feel the strain it was starting to put on herself - but mainly because she knew it was inevitable that they would find out who she really was. But the fact that it was naturally dark outside filled her with more confidence since distinguishing marks were less likely to be noticed under the gloom of a black sky.
Ally tensed as she picked up on the voices of the two beyond her shadows, she had hoped they would have ignored the disappearance, maybe acting shocked and taken aback. But eventually accepting he strange event and putting it down to their imagination. However it seemed these to were not ordinary civilians like she had first suspected.

As a hand entered the realm of her shadowed cloak she felt the momentary slip of control and instantly hardened her defences, the shadows which had once held a fabric like cover over them was now instead a wall, a cold, solid, black wall. Sure if they reached out again they would feel it - more obviously so - but it gave her some comfort in the fact it was more of a solid protection.

She fixed her gaze on Dr Douglas, watching the women with an unwavering glance, one of curiosity but still wariness. It was if by staring hard enough she could force an answer to come quicker.

However eventually the women did speak, and her confirmation, despite the snappy retort and sarcasm that was with it, was all she needed.

She picked up on the words of the other around them again, tuning back into her full surroundings now that she had heard what she desperately needed. This confirmed it, she was not alone.

For a brief second Ally felt as if someone could see her, like actually see her, despite her cover. As she glanced over at the other girl wearing a cheerleading outfit the look of concentration on her face made her wonder what power she possessed. Whatever it was she fought it best she could, creating a thicker set of shadows around herself.

She glanced back at Dr Douglas, giving a sharp nod, before removing the field around her - once again making her visible. It seemed the others were fully aware of her presence now, but still she kept the shadows hovering in front of her, revealing her silhouette but not allowing any other features to show.

Although she was desperate to know more about what she was, her life on the streets had taught her to be wary and so her shadows remained in place as she watched them all from behind her own wall of protection.
Yeah its kind of like that, her power allows her to manipulate the shadows and solidify them, so effectively she's just created a wall around her and Douglas but made out of shadows (so it blocks them from view). She would notice if anyone touched it though as she would feel her hold over the shadows waver slightly. So what you've written is fine :)
Ally kept running through the maze of side roads, only slowing when the sound of the sirens were drowned out by the darkness. She sheltered under and overhang of the building besides her, her clothes were slightly damp from the rain but also muddy and torn in places. She looked a right state, she would have to head over to her stash of belongings on the other side of town to get changed.

She uncovered the laptop from her coat, checking for any signs of damage. She didn't dare turn it on here, not now. Maybe it would just be best to sell it on fast and be done with it, this night had already become out of her control, she didn't went to make it any more complicated.

Ally glanced up and down the road, working out her current position in relevance to where she wanted to go. She wasn't far from one of the drop off points, a place in which she could sell her goods fast, and so she decided to head there first.

She pulled up the cover of the shadows, just to make sure, despite the fact the evening had quickly dawned upon them and with it taken the light. Within a few minutes she made it to the familiar brick wall. After a quick tousle with one of the bricks, she pulled it loose - revealing a small box. She placed the laptop inside and closed it quickly, placing the brick back and making it with a white line using a stone from the floor.

When she came back tomorrow she would open it to find cash in its place, it may not be the most cost effective way to sell her good, but it was a quick fix. Now that the laptop was out of her possession she could feel herself visibly relax the tension leaking from her posture and returning with a more calm and collected version. Ally once more took note of her position before heading back through a multitude of alleyways in order to get to her storage hold.

However as she rounded a corner, she was met with 3 figures, some of which seemed familiar. As she approached, still covered by her shadows she recognised one of the women, Douglas, from the explosion earlier. It was her, the one with the eyes that lit up and the spark of energy. She was like her - she was sure of it.

Ally advanced quickly, taking no notice of the other two people with her and instead drawing up a field of shadows around the pair of them now. To outsiders it would have merely looked like the women had vanished into thin air, when in fact she was just hidden by a cloak of shadows.

"Your like me, aren't you" she spoke in a hushed voice for although the shadows cloaked her appearance it would not stop the travelling of sound waves, only mute them slightly. She wanted answers and this may be the only chance she got for a long while. She only hoped her approach didn't startle her to much.
Ally scrambled backwards, pressing herself up against a building wall as bullets fired, ringing sharply through the air. Never had she witnessed such an event, even out on the streets she had managed to avoid such conflict which was a particularly good achievement in her books if you took into account what she did.

Her gaze fearfully swept over the faces of everyone here, the only thing that stopped her from running was her fascination as to what some of the other members could do. She had finally found others like herself without even trying. However if this is what being a mutant entailed then maybe she didn't want to be known as one after all. So many questions started to swarm her mind and curiosity glued her in place. When would she ever get this chance again?

However just to add to the mix a whir of sirens sounded through the air. That was her cue to leave. She pulled up a half attempted shield of shadows and started to run, pushing past a female, Douglas, in an attempt to make it out the way first. As she knocked into her the laptop slipped in her hands and a part of her brain told her to just drop it and keep running, but her stubborn pride made her think otherwise - she did not go through all of this for nothing.

She paused to get a better hold of the device, mumbling an apology to the woman before picking up the pace again. She could not afford to get caught now, especially being so close to this mess she could go away for life!
