Lux Harken- Giant Dome Fight

Looked like the mastermind had finally shown himself. Judging from the way he tossed magic around like that he was an extremely high level one as well...and a distraction.

I get the distinct feeling that I'm a B-lister in somebody else's story. The thought idly swept through Lux's mind as he pulled another spell from his memory.

"Light Make: Armor, Level One."

As the words swept from his lips light sprang forth from several places on his body. Quickly sweeping over his entire form the surrounding street was lit up with a bright flash that slowly faded enough for an observer to see the mage's new form. His clothes now shone as though strands of pure light had been woven into them. In addition a series of bars connected themselves to cogs at Lux's various joints.

During the day and out in the open it would simply look like he had gotten some shiny new clothes. In this dark and gloomy place though, Lux Harken shone like a beacon. Banishing the surrounding gloom and clearing the air like a spring gust.

Magic gathered and built in the hilt in his hand, building to a crescendo until the newly armored mage spun in a circle and called out.

"Light Make: Starlight!"

A series of lights shot up into what there was of a sky and stoped, hanging there and providing plenty of light for the other combatants to fight by. With a determined and magic reinforced step Lux set off to find the original shadow monster. The new ones seemed to be lesser threats and if he came upon any Lux would be happy to dispatch them. However the larger beast was more likely to kill people and he had no plans to lwr it or it's master go.

He might also like her since she's an elf? I dunno

The closest thing to modern style elves in Norse mythology is actually a variant of dwarf.

Also, @Natsume Honnaji. Lux was in the area of the dome when it was raised so he is there as well. Been trying to include everyone with mentions but I may have messes up the spelling on your name in my last post. Can't say I blame you for missing Lux.

I was waiting for Expolar to post first. Since me and Prince had posted after him, it made sense for it to be his turn. I wanted to make sure the beast was dead or not dead before I made mention of the huge explosion -_-
Also working out how Cody will avoid this....

Same here. Unless I missed something there has yet to be a monster post dealing with my light spear attack, which was before the dome was even started to be raised.

The shadow monster is the main focus of the fight, we should probably avoid going farther until it responds to the last round of attacks.
Magic detection is an ability that pretty much everyone in the show has been depicted having at some point or another. I'm pretty sure its a basic sixth sense in a world where 10% of the population can use magic.

Also, tell me this: how does one person have a ridiculously powerful combat magic, illusion magic, invisibility, complete magic detection, and telepathy? Doesn't that strike anyone as flawless/ludicrous?

Not having looked at Ferrin's profile I can tell that his stuff is less superpowers and more conventional magic. More freestyle spells/manipulation of energy. And the power level thing really has more to do with the mage's internal supply of power and how much he uses in one go.

As I believe it said in the post a very large amount of Ferrin's power was used to make that fireball.

Give this man a cookie!

Yeah, Dresden files is one of my favorite book series, and Ferrin is a little me, a little Harry, and a little invented.

(And yes, @Lugubrious A tiny bit of a self-insert.)

I twigged to it almost as soon as I saw him. Been trying to find a spot to bring it up since.

Also if it helps, think of Lux as a twenty year younger and slightly more hot blooded version of Michael.
As a side note, what do you guys think of the first-person perspective? Does it make the character seem more alive, or does it make the events hard to follow? Neither? Both? Other?

I'm trying to vary my writing style a little, and I have found that the first person is the easiest and most fun to write.

Well Ferrin is basically Harry Copperfield Blackstone Dresden so the first person feels pretty natural to me.
@ExpolarQuestion can the shadow thing be killed/hurt by physical damage, or does that just disperse it a little. Cause if so, Nidhogg can't do much against it, which'll piss him off a bit.

Interestingly enough, the ability to still be able to fight against normally intangible spirit-type nasties is one of the reasons I gave lux his particular brand of magic.
@Raijinslayer

I would have Lux light the place up but I believe that its the GM's turn to post next.

Lux Harken

The light mage was not about to let the monster get away from him. However, he did have to take a moment with the pair in his protective spell. The mother would likely die if she did not receive medical treatment soon. While the likelihood of a quickly raising amount of casualties prevented him from staying and providing the necessary help it did not mean he could could not make sure she lasted until somebody else could arrive to help.

Lux ran his hand along the barrier as he charged past, changing it's properties as he did so. The light inside the barrier changed as he did so. The much softer shade indicating the from protecting the occupants to reinforcing them. Blood loss slowed and the pain in the mother's lower half started to become much more bearable.

Having done what he could Lux continued on down the street at top speed. The sight of a building collapsing made him grit his teeth as he realized that he would not be able to close to short range in time. Reaching inside his mind he grabbed an image and wrapped it in magic. The words of the freeform spell bursting from his lips.

"Light Make: Spears!"

A series of bright yellow boar spears formed around him and shot off towards the abomination. Even if they missed none of the spears would hit any of the nearby civilians. If one did hit it would pin the monster in place while the purification magic woven in would burn away at the very magic that gave the beast life. Whatever the case it's attention would be on Lux rather than the helpless pedestrians.
@Raijinslayer

I was trying to incorporate stuff from your post actually. It was just about the only post in regards to the situation that I remembered the contents of off the top of my head.

The random guy getting tossed down the street for example. I avoided mentioning the spikes because I did not want mess with how a GM controlled monster reacted to the attacks of another player.
