"You are not too far off the mark, my dear apprentice!" Sharon said as he was reaching below his desk and removing a fake plate from it side, before grabbing for a wooden handle to pull something akin to a suitcase out of the desk.
"However, for the project I have in mind, we will need no less than a mountain of mana crystals to pull that off! That is, unless we cheat." There was a slight smirk on the High Elf's lips as he completely pulled the suitcase like container out of the desk, which actually revealed itself to be some kind of bronze trimmed wooden framed holding device with a pair of green, glowing fel crystals that hummed with a sickly green and white light as they jingled from their holdings inside the open frame.
"Now, these hold many times the power of ordinary arcane crystals. Though they are technically illegal, partly because they can be quite dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced." Sharon explained, perhaps sensing the worried expression on Kathlin's face as she noticed the forbidden crystals.
"However, that is only if you are an inexperienced, second-rate conjurer of cheap tricks. As a doctore philosoficum honorary student of the posthumously renowned Dalaran class of advanced metaphysics and quantum arcane entanglement, I know fel crystals are only dangerous if you try to channel them through yourself. Given the proper setup... "
A loud clanking noise could be heard as Sharon opened one of the taller shelves in the office, and nearly a sea of rods, stands and apperatuses made of various brass and metal alloys stumbled out onto the ground.
The High Elf had already picked up some of the alien instruments, which almost looked like they belonged to some gnomish, eldtrich engine, and began putting them together into a strange stand which seemed to resemble a multi-lensed, multi-colored and expanding magnifying glass in the middle of the setup.
" .. it is perfectly possible to completely negate any of the risks otherwise associated with the chaotic powers of fel magic, by channeling it through inorganic inanimate materiumnalis laden by noble metals to avoid lingering corruption. Ohh, and grab this."
Sharon said as he suddenly threw a heavy, lead laced apron over to Kathlin along with some shaded goggles, and began to remove his own cloak and replace it with a similar apron.
"Put on the protective gear. Just in case! Better than safe than sorry, am I right?"
