Aaand I vote for the NSF.
Carys wasn’t entirely sure how long it had been since the first people had been awoken on Atlas. It seemed however, that those who were awake weren’t big on social networking. The huge temporary space colony did have a network for colonists to use and it did hold a large chunk of data from back home but it seemed nothing particularly recent had been added.

She created a profile on Andromesphere, the Atlas Social Network, flicked through a friendless feed of adverts for onboard entertainment and shops before quickly giving up. The news feeds also offered little of interest past a cheesy ‘Welcome to Andromeda’ section and a few articles on people of interest. She wasn’t exactly sure of who those people were supposed to be of interest to, but clearly she was outside of whatever demographic they were aimed at. Freeport 15 was very much a back end of nowhere kind of place and she had determined from the reactions of the few people she had met since leaving that her pop culture knowledge was at least a few decades behind.
Her eyes slowly drifted to the little digital time readout along the top of her tablet and she was surprised to discover just how much time she had wasted. Furthermore, she caught a movement out the corner of her eye.

Somehow Carys resisted the urge to make a sound of surprise and instead rather seamlessly lowered the tablet onto her lap as the rather imposing man sat opposite her on another sofa. She took in his appearance trying to determine what kind of person he was. A very large part of her was concerned that he was exactly the kind of no-nonsense military type she had been afraid of ending up with.

"Hey there uh my name is Rylex Soran, I guess.. we will be working together down the line. I shoot things for a living. It’s nice to meet you."

His short introduction concluded with him offering out a hand toward her. Carys managed an awkward smile in response. At least he seemed to be somewhat friendly even if his sense of humour was a little odd. She reached her hand out and took his, searching her mind quickly for something cool and smooth to say in response. This was a first impression, a chance to leave a lasting impact. She had seen in movies that military types often made fun of the scientists on their teams. She would not be one of those scientist jokes!

“Hi Rylex” She tried her best to ensure her hand shake was quite firm so as not to seem weak. “Carys Jones, I…”
Her mind failed to conjure anything. It was completely barren.
“...Like plants”
She closed her eyes a moment as she felt the warmth of embarrassment flood to her cheeks before quickly adding.
“I mean, I’m a botanist, I work with plants. That’s my field… I’m a scientist”.
She retracted her hand and instead awkwardly ran it through her auburn hair.
“Yeah”
‘Very smooth Carys’ she thought to herself as she forced herself to meet the mans singular eye.

Deciding that the best way to salvage the situation was to act as though it never happened she quickly added.
“Have you seen anyone else around yet? I was beginning to think I was the only one here.
Carys had lost herself in the art of decoration and personalisation. Already her quarters aboard the Monolith was starting to feel more like home! She rested her hands on her hips as admired her work. The walls were covered in an array of posters from her favourite movies, some of which had battered corners and creases from their time in her old room. She had hung a multi-picture frame above her bed. Some of the slots were already filled with friends and family but a few remained free for new memories.
Her terminal was on and currently playing through a playlist of bands from many years before. Well... It would be many, many years before now.

A pang of loss gripped at her and the sudden reminder that she would never see her family or friends again threatened to overwhelm her. Closing her eyes, she took a steady breath trying to calm herself before she had a complete breakdown. The last thing she wanted was for her new shipmates to see her crying and think she was some sort of liability.
Standing straight, she exhaled slowly and opened her eyes once more. This was a new beginning and something she was lucky to be a part of.
“I’m ok” She whispered to herself, nodding her head for reassurance.
In silence she put the last of her belongings in place, a few books and a tiny succulent the staff of Freeport 15 had presented her then sat on the bed.

She had been issued with quite a bit of paperwork upon being awoken and still hadn’t had much of a chance to look over it. Obviously the essential stuff she had been told.. And she’d signed some forms without really reading them. Now it was time to see if there was anything particularly interesting to her.
She flicked through a few pages, a large and fairly thick booklet detailing information about Atlas. This one she had read through at least a million times already back home. A folded and rather spartan pamphlet contained a map of the Monolith as well as safety information.
For a short time she browsed through the pages that caught her attention before finally tossing it aside and clapping a hand over the door release.

When she had arrived a couple of hours before she had seemed to be the only one here. Part of her worried that she had missed some kind of briefing or induction talk somewhere, though she pushed that thought to the back of her mind. The hallway beyond her was still empty though she thought she could hear movement somewhere nearby.

“Maybe I should have left the door open…” She murmured to herself as she looked between the identical other doors around her own. Not wanting to barge in on anyone, she lightly tapped a couple in case the occupants had arrived without her hearing. When no one emerged, she gave up and made her way back to the common area she’d passed through earlier.

The room was still deserted, though someone had been here fairly recently as the motion detecting main lights were already on.
This space at least made her more relaxed. Initially she worried she might be assigned to some militaristic ship where fun was forbidden but the presence of comfy chairs and even game machines gave her hope otherwise.
She flopped onto a sofa with her tablet and busied herself with whatever she could find to occupy her time as she waited for someone else to arrive.
Name: Juliet Kamara
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Race: Human

Personality:
A grounded realist but one with a caring heart. Juliet has always been one to look out for others. Despite being fairly logically minded, she may display an emotional reluctance when torn on a difficult decision. This reluctance can be seen as a weakness but can also allow her to gain insight from multiple angles when attempting to settle disputes. Ultimately, Juliet will choose a sensible course over a rash and dangerous one, especially where the safety of others is part of the equation.

Backstory:
Born into a large but fairly well off family, Juliet had a fairly easy childhood outside of abundant sibling rivalry. Her mother and father operated a popular tavern in a bustling city with which the children would both help and hinder in equal measure.
Juliet had four siblings in total, 2 older brothers and a younger brother and sister. Even though she was third oldest amongst them, Juliet often found herself taking responsibility for their small band of troublemakers. When they became hurt or sick, she would care for them. When there was disagreement, she would settle it.

Likely it was these years of her young life that eventually led her to stray from the family tavern business to instead learn of medicine.
Taking a job in a small clinic in the cities lower district, Juliet soon made herself indispensable with her quick learning and level headed thinking. The work could often be hard and unpleasant, drunken brawlers and shady backstreet types made up a majority of patients.
Despite this, her position gave her immunity amongst the gangs of the lower district whose unspoken codes gave protection to those many of them might one day rely on.

Juliet continued to work in the clinic for a few years, gradually learning more skills to save lives. However, as news of the blight swept the city she found herself frustrated with her position. Helping people was what she wanted to do and there would be many beyond the safety of her home who would need her. After careful deliberation and an emotional farewell to her friends and family, she departed her home and set off aboard a caravan into the world beyond.

Equipment:

Food and water
A wrapped pouch of medical tools.
Simple knife

Spell List:

Ability - Sedate - By holding someone and channeling her energy, Juliet can gradually slow down a patient's heart rate and metabolic processes rendering them unconscious and sedated.

Ability - Anesthetize - Much the same as sedate, this spell requires extended contact to spread over more than a localised area. Given a full cast, the patient loses all sensation across their body.
Ability - Regenerate - A simple spell for medium to small wounds. The process is incredibly draining though it can fix most common minor injuries.

Ritual - Mend Bone - A spell that takes an extended amount of time, mend bone will bring a bone back together in a fragile state. This quick fix does not fully restore the body and excessive agitation may damage the bone once more. Even after the cast, plenty of rest is highly advised.
Oh.. The Discord thing has expired.
This looks interesting! I hope you don't mind me applying~
