AN ALTERED HISTORY

The Einzbern have established a legacy on the back of "wishes". Under the tutelage of Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, they established a ritual to recover their lost Third Magic with the generous aide of the Tohsaka and Makiri. That is what the textbooks and history of the Clock Tower say as fact, irrefutably so. As Truth. However, there was another UNTOLD history that was a blight upon the Winzbern legacy they'd erased along with removing themselves from involvement with the Magical World after unbearable embarrassment.

The Palmgren family were renowned for their alchemy in the early second millennia of human history, only dwarfed by a certain famous family. Second only to the Einzbern, who sported the Third Magic in antiquity, they garnered unquestioned resources and fame. Upon losing their Sorcery the Swedish family greedily reached out to assist the Einzbern for centuries under the guise of mutual elevation of their craft. Mages, by their nature, use each other for knowledge so there was no suspicion beyond the norm for magi. The Palmgren used the Einzbern to elevate their knowledge with methods they'd been unable to create themselves, and the Einzbern used the Palmgren to try and recover their Wish-Granting Sorcery. This partnership continued for nearly half a millennia until the Einzbern began to create the Holy Grail War.

Naturally, the Einzbern reached out to their closet 'ally' who offered to assist. Only, the Palmgren fled with the initial blueprints after the the first stages of development. Why would the Palmgren assist another family in becoming Sorcerers when they just could themselves with minimal risk. The Einzbern had much more to lose in this endeavor while the Palmgren only had power to gain. The Lesser Grail could be constructed by any Alchemist so long as one knew the formula and the inner workings of the Ritual. The Swedish family allowed their former allies to construct the Greater Grail, wanting to Usurp the ritual at a later occasion much father down the line. For centuries the Grail recognized the Palmgren's wish and repeatedly made them Masters through the first three Holy Grail Wars. They repeatedly made it their goal to analyze and observe the ritual rather than prioritizing winning, in case they lost. As expected they were bitterly crushed by the Einzbern homunculi again and again.

After the Third war, the family had made a competent enough replica of the Lesser Grail that the Greater Grail connected itself, jointly, to it between wars. The dawn of the Fourth War was approaching, and the Palmgren made a genuine effort with the military of the Nazi armies. The group in question blindly coveted the occult and eagerly searched for the 'Grail' told of in biblical scripture as proof of 'magic' in the world. The Palmgren ransacked the war, using unorthodox tactics such as bombing and assassination to eliminate all the other Masters before plucking the Grail from its perch on the leyline. Then it disappeared into the night, the Nazi's and the Einzbern losing track of their prized possession... For decades.

THE CURRENT EVENTS

Six months ago the Clock Tower Association got a letter from the Prague Association, particularly from the Twenty-Seventh head of the Palmgren family. It stated that they had obtained the Greater Grail and was initiating a Grail War to manifest the Wish Granting device, inviting any who were interested to travel to the specified location to attempt being blessed by the Greater Grail. According to the current heir, Mikael Palmgren, they were initiating the War as merely a proof of concept of their alchemy surpassing the Einzbern. Once the structure of their magecraft was soundly tested they'd attempt to create a pathway to the Root. While experiencing the Root is a life-long dream, in its current setting, only the Wish-granting ability can be realized according to the family. As 'thanks' for participating the winner would be allowed to make use of the infinite amount of Magical energy for whatever they desired.

Shamelessly they had stolen from the Einzbern and were attempting to replicate the original ritual... But due to the potential gains and power that magi family could obtain from this chance, there was no punishment or Sealing Designation on behalf of the Mage's Association. The Einzbern were rightfully livid at this embarrassment, and even with all their clout couldn't mobilize a force to retake their masterpiece. Unable to take the embarrassment of the scandal, the family to withdraw from the Clock Tower's inner workings and strike it out on their own. With their great wealth and lineage, they would make it, but they have been rarely observed by the Mage's association for the last ten years. It appears the extent of their humiliation leads the mage's association to believe they won't try to interfere and instead have returned to the 'drawing board' so to speak.

The Holy Church seemed to have been in contact with the Palmgren family as all the preparations for a formal War, much like the ones in Fuyuki, had been completed without incident. Overseen by Anja Manuela Weber, the Church's Flame of Hatred, it has been ensured that any foul play won't be tolerated. Over the last five decades the Palmgren family has built a strong relationship with the church and due to their ties have refrained from entering themselves in the war on the behest of the Church in exchange for more thorough support by the typically magi-hating faction. Instead, their Command Spells have been passed onto the Overseer so that seven impartial masters can be chosen.

As Magi who lived in Switzerland were chosen, and interested individuals from the Clock Tower arrived to do battle, the pieces began to fall into place. Anja and Mikael stand as a duo of overseers and impartial members that only desire to see the Grail appear before them. Then Seven Pieces had appeared... And the play had begun to weave itself into creation. Seven sets of commands that were dispersed to usher a great tapestry of carnage.

Mechanics

Unlike a typical grail War, there will be no Servant's applied for this war. Instead, they will all be presented with bare minimal stats provided for those who would be their Masters. They will be played as NPCs by myself. This is to ensure proper balancing and prevent metagaming, in addition to allowing proper strategy to occur. Only once you become a Servant's Master will you receive their full stat block, abilities, and likely true name.

Other players will not be privy to true names or abilities until they're discovered in RP, allowing some sense of danger and strategy since you do not have all the information. All these Heroic spirits have been balanced to have strength against some and weakness against others... None are 'weak' however and have the potential to win under the right conditions. Yes, even Assassin~

Please note that players will choose which they are interested in, the exception being Lancer as he has been reserved due to prior history with the player in question. All the remaining six are open for people desire to be the Master of. In the event of mutual interest, a die roll will decide who receives the Servant. This will continue until all have been distributed to worthy Masters.

So since we have six Masters (Technically) interested, I'll set up a genuine thread for this. I'm sure we'll pick up our last member as this starts rolling. Look forward to that being up either tonight or tomorrow.
I'm the friend Cu was talking about doing a Master pair with, hello!

I've run stuff similar to this in the past, always fun to play into the mystery aspect of the Servants.

Is Berserker's 'boarish' nature deliberate, or is that a misspelling?

Typo~!
That makes four plus one (Lancer's Master). If we get at least one more interested, I'll set up the main thread tonight to start accepting apps.
I have a master that might do well with an Assassin Servant, if Assassin is still available.

We will select Servants when the official thing opens, and roll if two people want the same Servant, assuming we get our player total up to 7. For now, I'd plan for Assassin, but missummonings happen often so it could also be an interesting character moment.
So is the idea to make Masters then summon the Servants above?

Yes. Every player will choose which one they'd like to have, if two people want the same Servant (Barring Lancer due to being held by a returning player) they will roll off to see who receives that Servant for fairness. The loser will choose another, and this will repeat until everyone has a Servant.
Now that I have a bit more time, here's some additional information:

Servants

Friend of mine and I have a fun Master pair idea, and I think we've already discussed some of it with you.

Cu, we can discuss in detail what you're going for just to make sure things are a bit more balanced... Since Servants are the greatest 'tools' its not as much of an issue, but we'll have to make sure the two of you are not exceptionally Overpowered.

And bare bones servant sheets should be up by the end of the day.
I am looking to start, or rather, reboot a war that fell through. Basically the Holy Grail was stolen similar in Apocrypha, and the next iteration is being initiated in Switzerland.

It's a War where no Servants will be permitted by players... Instead I will be playing all of them. Information will be held close to the chest in that regard and only the Master of servants will be privy to their entire stat sheet. All of their opponents will only know basic stats such as Class, Parameters, and a general hint at catalyst. This is to ensure everyone has a chance and not whomever has the best Servant wins, as well as making sure they're balanced against each other.

I have one slot already reserved, since this is a reboot... That being the Master of Lancer. All the other six slots will be piloted by Magi who seek the Holy Grail. This is a very Story-driven scene about an alternate history, possibly having a sequel if all goes well. Side-Players may ally themselves with the Masters for a more dynamic story, but 'teams' can be no more than two people similar to Kayneth and Sola-ui. This will only be permitted if a sufficient background is permitted.
