My second dnd character also made two orcs explode, after which she cooked part of one to near perfection. One party member refused to eat. 'That's fine. I'm not mad. Whatever. '

Sup!

Gonna use this for a quick overview of my rp interests. People can pm me at any time, really.
- 1x1's only, unless it's a group rp with a really small amount of people and not too fast-paced.
- Fantasy, both modern and otherwise
- Action, love it
- Adventure, yaaaaas
- Horror, though not all kinds of it. I do love the supernatural stuff, though
- I'm not very good at sci-fi, but willing to try if you're okay with me not being great at it.

@TheMusketMan That's true, yeah. And a lot of that also leans quite heavily on a specific type of evil, I feel so it also doesn't always fit the type one might want to try out.
Having said that, there's definitely some fun in having a character do decent things but just kind of 'roleplay' them as just doing it for money, fame and attention, while everyone still treats them like a hero.
@TheMusketMan Dulza sounds pretty badass!
I have to admit I'm godawful at playing evil characters; they turn around eventually :')
Tried it as a 1x1, but I think it can also work well as a group RP, so here goes.

They managed to get it done. The Venetian island of Poveglia, infamous for being a dumpingground for plague victims and later for the mental asylum where horrible things allegedly happened, is now the location for a fantastic state of the art resort and it’s gruesome history is used as a selling point for tourists.
During the building of the thing, at least five builders have gone missing, but even towards their co-workers and family this a been covered up through clever lies.
Now it’s done and to celebrate there has been a competition that will decide who the very first visitors are going to be. A small number of winners will have the resort all to themselves for three weeks.
However, once they are there it turns out that things aren’t as great as expected and when the boat doesn’t show back up on time, they have a problem.
---
So basically this would be a horror RP in which the hauntings slowly become more severe. I'm thinking of around 6-8 characters in the resort, though a few more would be okay.
To keep everyone on the same page in terms of how bad the hauntings are at any given point, I'll keep tabs on that.

Anyone interested?

I mean, I'm not a real Hagenees, since I'm from Voorburg originally and currently living in Leidschenveen. But I live like 200 meters from the Kyocera stadion, so I guess even the most Haags thing isn't even in the Hague anymore. But yeah, for real. I already noticed you were Dutch, the name on your art gives it away.

I think something to keep in mind when writing shy characters is that... I wanna say 'nobody cares about them' which sounds harsh and is not entirely true in the sense that people do care about them, it's just that shy people tend not to get noticed.

Because it's a self insert, because it's the easiest thing to write, because they are lazy, or because they want their character to be the center of attention (which is somewhat paradoxical because you're writing a shy character that doesn't like attention).

Haha, we're in the same boat there; Assen mostly has the TT going for it, yet the racetrack itself is in Witten :')
Yeah, the name kind of does, doesn't it :')

And I think you really hit the nail on the head here. From what I've seen there's a lot of 'please put effort into me' going on with those characters; wanting people to reach out to the character even when the character pushes them away several times, without realizing people aren't going to put that kind of effort into a fictional character they have no investment in.

----
Another thing that irks me about very needy characters is; when I write a particularly empathic character, the sort where I can't ignore such a shy creature without breaking character, and someone keeps making things happen to their character so that he or she needs to be comforted, so that the rp more or less revolves around them.
Ohh I have so many Elder Scrolls characters. I often make ones that don't really go anywhere, but the ones that did even made it into some RP's.
My most notable ones are;

Corin Darbon, a Breton Battlemage who's family had been quite corrupt, resulting in them getting themselves the wrong enemies and being attacked one night. Corin survived and ended up as a member of a group of hunters. A lot of traveling, fighting with bandit groups and adapting to his new life later he ended up in Skyrim where he managed to rebuild both fame and fortune.
Just don't mention his height.

Adrian Brunfaire, a Breton mage. A pretty friendly and pacifistic guy. Skyrim's attitude towards wizard has resulted in him being a bit secretive, but once he notices he can safely talk about magic around someone, the young scholar and researcher won't shut up.
Really just a big nerd.

Eriseya, my Altmer Dragonborn. Oddly insecure for an Altmer and fairly down to earth. She's very close to Lydia, isn't too loved by the Thalmor and is a close childhood friend of my other Altmer character.
She's a onehanded warrior, since I also love playing against type.

Serion, the other Altmer. Unsurprisingly, much like his friend he's not a big friend of the Thalmor. He is also a member of the Dawnguard, close friends with Serana and a tank, since the height of Altmer characters makes them really imposing looking in heavy armor : D

Faras Greendale, a Bosmer thief and former assassin. Suave, not necessarily unfriendly but definitely not loyal. Also, hypocritically enough, he's pretty fed up with being betrayed all the bloody time.
Good archer, also pretty good at nicking things and stabbing people.

I found it is either that, an excuse to be really passive, or it's just an excuse for the character to be a cock-sleeve, excuse my language, for the other character. There's no substance.

Perhaps worth noting that I have had good experiences with people that wrote sub characters (or, rather, I have had one) but that was an expert writer. Shy, depressed characters are the same. It needs to be done well, or not at all.

Wait, for real!? Assen represent! And also Amerfoort, but that's where my apartment is, doesn't quite feel as homey as Assen :')

Cocksleeve made me giggle. But it's quite often very true.

And same, a friend of mine can write the shy, easily intimidated sort in an amazing way (one of her characters actually gets into a lot of odd situations, simply because he's very bad at saying no and walking away).
"My character is a loner so he's going to go out of his way every. single. time. to avoid talking to people - oh did I also tell you guys he's a closet-nice-guy that actually really really wants to befriend people but he's just so shy, effectively giving me a justification for making no meaningful impact on the story by constantly removing him from any conversation that isn't about a) my character b) his depression c) his loneliness d) his desire to make friends or e) all of the above. It also gives me a great great reason to avoid writing and coming up with new ideas! After all he's so shy, people have to come to my character with their ideas so I don't have to do any creative thinking!"

Yeah, kudo's to the people who can write shy or anti-social characters with flair, keeping it interesting to read even if he's not actively partaking. But god damn. Shy, friendless, lonely, depressed characters in group RP's are the equivalent of sub characters in the 1x1 section - they're wet paper husks of a character that have no personality and a single lazy gimmick.

Where have you been all my life.

And yeah, the sub-thing in 1x1 is also painfully prevalent. It's quite often an excuse for the writer being really passive. Not always, but it has become something I'm a little bit cautious about.
post 3000

i just wanted to get 3000

but also i feel a little miffed when characters just kind of...dont interact with each other, like isn't that the point

Bonus points if someone's character keeps leaving the group. Sure, there's undoubtedly times/situations in which it works, but my God are those rare.
Lorewise I'm thinking about mostly sticking to the history of the places and maybe adding a little bit of our own here and there. I also want the haunting to increase very gradually, so that it's more suspense at first that outright horror, though that will also have it's place later on.
If you're up for it, feel free to pm me.
My list of prices can be found on through the link in the first post. I'll make an image version of it soon, so that you won't need to be linked to DeviantArt, but for now everything can be found there. In my gallery there is also a commission that was a 'medium' size and that's probably a good comparison with my higher res pieces in terms of what the difference would be if I go for smaller and a little less detail.

I go by canvas-size instead of amount of characters, but it boils down to; the more you want in a drawing (for example; full body instead of a portrait, a background instead of a simple gradient) the larger the canvas will probably need to be for it to look good, which in turn means I spend more time on it and charge more for it.
Anything with the level of detail that the pieces I've shown here would be between 30 and 40 dollars.
