Traditional Irish Pub Thread - Americans fleeing Trump welcome!

We recently discovered a growing population of Paddys on the guild and so we do what every Irish person does, we built a traditional Irish bar on the guild because we thought it would be fierce Craic.

We're a friendly folk who love to have the bants, so pull up a chair and grab a pint (soft drinks if you're under 18, wouldn't want to piss off the gardai now!).

First rounds on me!! Introduce yourself, oh and before I forget, Cead mile failte!!!

I'm your Landlady, Spud, I've travelled all around but now I live up North on weekdays and down south on weekends, if you wanna know how the craic is in the Midlands or how bad the traffic into Dublin is on a rainy Monday morning, I'm your gal!
There's a tip jar over there so if you're feeling generous after a few schoops, drop in some euros or a comic books (Spud is team Cap btw ).

Today's menu is ... Potatoes and cabbage because we're fucking Irish lad!!! And a pack of tayto after if you're good!

The Wesht is mighty beautiful, Galway City is meant to be the best for student craic, Belfast is fairly quiet I've found but the rent is so much cheaper than Dublin. If you're movin out for college, Belfast or Galway are the places to go, anywhere in Dublin is stupid expensive or you have to commute and commuting is no craic at all!
So you're doing your ... A-Levels(?) This year then? Damn I was gonna say "Ill go annoy the crap out of your mates" but I finish up my Masters in September so I'll just miss ya'll, 'sides I'm probably gettin too ould for the first year kinda carryon *cough never too old for a sesh cough*

How else do you think farmers hook up? Sometimes theres only one house for 8 miles, hard to make booty-calls when there ain't no booty around!!!

@NarcissisticPotato Which NUI? Galway, Maynooth, (is there one in Limerick? or is it just UL? I dunno!), DCU seems like decent craic! Any idea what you'll major in? I knew a buncha lads in DIT but most of us are graduates/post-grads now! Good luck if you're goin' after Queen's, it's bloody beautiful man, I had a class in a converted Presbyterian church and the roof was so fucking distracting it had engravings and shit, damn near blew my mind since I went to culchie-college for 3 years hah.

Yeah, NHS is reason enough to stay in the UK tbh, I was in hospital in the south visiting a relative and I had a ligament injury from pissin about in Belfast and one of the nurses told me "Don't go down to A&E, you're much better off going to the Royal Victoria when you're up North again".

And aye, I know a few words! Not a lot, mind you - up North, the Irish teaching in secondary schools is atrocious (or at least mine was) so if you didn't go to a Bunscoil, you just dropped Irish as soon as possible! I'd love to speak it but I'm pretty awful at languages as it is!

I think I win on the language front then ;) but only because I still remember "An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithereas a mhuinteoir" ... the schools aren't much better here either tbh, at least the North has its own dialect (even if it sounds like an utterly different language sometimes!) I learned a mix of Connacht and Munster Irish because theres no real Leinster dialect because of the Pale etc so they just blend the two down here. Bahhh who wants a history lesson anyhow when we can have a few pints and craic!

Haha March is my birthday, better schedule a shopping trip while I'm in Antrim so!! Come down South to the Midlands after Brexit! Close to Dublin but without the shocking housing prices and no more Brexit-stress! Mind you, I wouldn't want to move South after experiencing the NHS ... Dude, I nearly cried when nurse discharged me after I fell off a bus because it took less than 2hrs to get seen to in A&E ... Do you have any idea how long you'd wait in Tallaght to get an xray?!?
