♫ Waiting.
Know that I'll always be waiting.
Do you believe what I'm saying?
I'm in no hurry. ♫

► reputation
Relaxed, chill, laidback - these are the usual words people use to describe Kim. Personally, Kim thinks that a more appropriate word would be 'accepting'. Whatever the situation, she rolls with it. Calling her optimistic is a bit of a stretch, though. The way she sees it, life happens and she deals. Her years at Beverly Hills High have been...interesting, to say the least. Although she'll maintain an amiable conversation if someone strikes one up with her, she doesn't actively seek out interaction. Socialising is nice and all but sometimes, it just takes up too much energy. It's why she joined an art club despite being absolutely rubbish at drawing; it seemed like the club with the least work. Spending her lunches by herself was an idea she was content with, but alas, the inevitable interactions she had with her classmates meant that she wound up mixing around with a particular group. Still, the Misfits are a cool bunch and it's not so bad when she's around them. It helps that they like heading out to Santa Monica so much. The fresh, salty, ocean air is something she enjoys immensely.
Another word some may use to describe would be 'old-fashioned'. She's not a big believer of losing her virginity before marriage. That being said, she wouldn't mind pursuing a relationship. It's just a matter of waiting for someone to take the first step. As of now, she's married to the woods in her backyard. Taking walks and pumping music in her ears is what she considers time well-spent. No stress, no pressure, just her, music, and the open air.

► noteworthy appearance traits
Jean jacket and her default nonchalant expression.
► favourite item
Her 8GB Samsung MP3 player of almost 10 years and by extension, earpieces.
► current dilemma
She'd rather spend all day outside than staying at home. Kim's mum's constantly disappointed in her only daughter's average grades and her dad just echoes her with, 'Your mum knows what's best.' The worst part? They genuinely believe that Kim can do better. Kim can't stand it - she believes that it'd be better for everyone if her parents would just accept that she's not the brilliant genius they think she could be and move on.
► warning
If it's not necessary, don't touch her. Kim may be friendly but she is distinctly uncomfortable with idle gestures that people are prone to, such as pats on the shoulder or a nudge in the ribs. Just don't.

► quirks
- Has a tendency to keep her earpieces in, even in the company of others. Some have told her that it's rude but as long as she can hear them, she can't see why.
- Often bounces on the balls of her feet when idle.
- Loves jean jackets, but hates jeans. They just don't feel the same.
► hobbies
- Listening to music anytime she can.
- Going for walks in the woods.
- Sketching random doodles, though they're not very good. Being in an art club does have an impact on her.
- Swimming every Saturday morning. She prefers the deep pool - it's furthest from the kids playground.
- Playing through text-based CYOA games from the Play Store.
► dreams
Achieving something. Kim doesn't know what, exactly, but she imagines it'd be something so spectacularly mindblowing that it'll finally sate her parents' expectations.
► fears
The idea of her parents giving up on her completely, or that some day, Kim could slide down from 'average' to 'below average'. The only reason Kim has relaxed practically ingrained into her is because she never wants anyone to see just how much things do get to her. At some point, it turned from a cover to a genuine part of her feelings regarding most things. Fake it till you make it, right?

► occupation
Ice-cream parlour server. Considering that Kim detests ice-cream, it's the last place she expected herself to be working at but hey, it's got air-conditioning.
► family
- Julia Blais - Mother - Formerly a teacher, but now a full-time housewife.
- Beveridge Jeff - Father - A blue-collar technician. He loves his job, but wishes that he had more time off to spend with his family.
► brief history
While Kim's family isn't rich, they're 'comfortable', or so her father tells her. Beverly Hills High was meant to be a point in her life where she could start over - with her studies, that is. Both her parents were adamant about driving Kim up the wall about raising her grades. Kim didn't have a clue why. It's not like she's failing. Nothing she learned was going to be applied in college and if she wasn't good before, she wasn't going to get better anytime soon. With those reasons, Kim turned a deaf ear to her parents' concerns and escaped into the quiet of the woods.
The years came and went. Now, in her final year at Beverly Hills High, Kim kind of feels like she's floating around in life without a purpose. There's no particular interest she's into, unless listening to pumping good music counted, which it didn't. She's got herself a part-time job at the local ice-cream parlour, much to the chagrin of her parents (they're convinced she'll burn herself out balancing the job with her studies. Honestly? That just drove her to get the job anyway), but working there forever isn't a future she looks forward to. Kim's starting to realise that maybe she should've put a little more planning into the direction she wants to take her life into. Every day is the same cycle of disappointment and inadequacy.
Then Sami comes around, talking about a road trip, and Kim's interest is piqued. The idea is an escape, an adventure, and it almost makes her laugh at her previous worries. Planning? Nothing in life ever goes according to plan. Maybe the road trip's just what she needs to remind herself: life is what it is. There's no going around that.

► extra information
Kim loves sushi, especially the seafood ones. Especially the prawn ones. The explosion of rice, vinegar, and prawn, all wrapped up in a tangy, crunchy seaweed shell, is her idea of a bite of heaven.

His kind nature and constant need to meddle into other people's business in an attempt to help them with their problems is something she treasures; in her eyes, that's a personality trait that's becoming increasingly difficult to find in people. It's gotten to the point where there's fondness in her heart whenever she sees him, but she's been pretty good at staying silent about her feelings so far. Their friendship is great as it is - she does not want to risk losing it, especially when they might not ever see each other again after this road trip. So she'll wait, and watch, and if nothing ever happens between them? She can deal. Valeria (☼) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Their initial meeting had Kim on guard, if she was being honest. Abrasive, headstrong, stubborn? It seemed the perfect recipe for drama. Even so, once Kim broke past Val's spitfire exterior, she found someone who appreciated the beach as much as she did and who was willing to teach her how to surf. Spoiler alert: Kim's still bad at it. That doesn't stop them from hanging out on the beaches and having talks about future relationships. Kim's especially grateful to have a girl friend who hasn't had sex yet; she doesn't mind her 'old-fashioned' label but it's nice to find solidarity in something hardly anyone has anymore. Nate (☼) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ They're cool with each other. If there's ever a reason for Kim to bother attending a party, it's Nate. At least then she'll have a partner to chill out with by the food and snark about everyone's antics. Jules (☼) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ A few Saturday morning swims together can go a long way in building a friendship. Doesn't hurt that Jules' a fan of the outdoors as much as Kim is. Whenever Jules in the mood to drag the group out for a hike somewhere, Kim's all for it. Being in his presence is a breather from mixing with other more rambunctious personalities and Kim can always depend on Jules for some calm company. Emilia (☼) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Kim regards her as the little sister she never had (if little sisters in real life weren't the epitome of annoying). It's hard not to feel high-spirited around her. Kim's also starting to explore past the history genre for her leisure reading due to their occasional discussions on the books they read. In light of recent events - ie the Brandon Incident - Kim's keeping an eye on Emilia, but she won't intervene unless Emilia wants her to. Taking full advantage of the opportunity to stay out a little longer, Kim convinced Monica to stay at school out late to one-shot the project. When they walked out and stopped by Monika's bike, one comment lead to another and Kim ended up getting a free ride back home that night. They haven't spoken much since then, but Kim always has a smile to spare if they bump ways. Ellie (☯) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ - Amanda (☯) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Sometimes Kim'll let her friends drag her to parties and she'll park herself right by the food table. She's bumped into Amanda a couple of times at said parties but their relationship never really moved past polite conversation. Hugo (☯) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ - |
