"Yes. The one time I visited Mars, it was truly beautiful." From behind, a hand knocked the air out of Glass' lungs. He hadn't expected to practically be assaulted on the ship, and from an ally at that. Calming himself down, he turned to the Saiyan woman. "I hear that the gravity is even higher than Old Vegeta, and that the food is always plentiful. A lovely place I'm sure, but I've never visited. Taking a week off just isn't in my schedule."

Nearby, his pupils opened their eyes from the previous meditation. Silic and Sodius watched the exchange with some interest, while Rin seemed too preoccupied with her tired eyes to notice.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Third Annual Market Street Pokémon Tournament, hosted by The Devon Corporation! I'm your announcer and guest panelist, Samantha Liu of the California Gym Circuit, and we're set to begin shortly! Registered contestants, make your way to the central arena floor for a word from our head referee!"

The words rang out through the massive gymnasium, its wooden floors echoing with the footsteps of hundreds of spectators. To one side were bleachers, more than enough to hold the large audience, along with several food and beverage vendors, and to the other side were three areas covered in floor mats. Each was marked off by ribbons, and judges stood at the sides of all three. Nearby, a table stood on the floor with three people. One held the microphone, a pretty young woman who stood proudly in her chair.

Thirty-two competitors. Five rounds of competition. Only the best of the best would be able to make it to the top, and win a one-year contract with Devon Corp. It would be hard fought. Who would come out on top?

Making his way to the center arena, Zach looked around at the competition. Some familiar faces were present. The teen had expected that though, after all, he had seen that Mark guy handing out invites will-nilly. That must have made him some kind of Devon Corporation representative.

He was nervous. Never before had he stood in front of so many people, and he had to battle like this? Shaking his head, he tried to rid himself of the nerves. Pros did this all the time, and ultimately, that was one of Zacharias' goals. To make a living doing what he and his Pokemon loved.

I'll be posting an update to segue into the next scene tomorrow, either early in the morning or in the afternoon. I'm EST time.
Below them sat Mars, a ruddy-green and blue gem. In the north, a vast ocean swallowed thousands of kilometers, its coastline strung by thousands of tiny, specked islands. Cutting through the middle of the planet, a massive shallow sea dominated and more than doubled this available coastline, resulting in seemingly endless beaches. To the south was a mountainous icecap, kilometers high. Like most newly terraformed planets, it was truly a landscape of extremes.

It was also the home to nearly three billion humans, and an entire fledgling ecosystem. Something worth protecting.

Sitting in orbit, Glass reached out to the planets with his senses, taking in the world. Overall, Mars radiated a tiny fraction of the energy Earth did, mostly because it had far fewer humans and animals. It also owed to the gravity, he knew. Even with its modifications, it still had only two-thirds Earth gravity, and this had a negative impact on the strength of its inhabitants. Still, barracks of soldiers held strong enough men and women, and the warriors of the planet shone brightly, like any other world's. Impressive, for what it lacked in manpower.
Once Tenoren gives notification, we can skip to the tournament!
Once everybody's ready we can time skip to before the next tournament. It'll be a fairly large event, with several rings holding matches at a time, so things should move fairly quickly. The competition will be a lot stiffer than the one we just had.
Over nearby, Zach saw some of the other past competitors talking, paid them no mind. They were probably gossiping about the tournament. What did catch his attention, though, was the man walking around handing out invitations like they were nothing. That did get the teen a little down, but maybe he saw something in the trainers around here? Either way, he stood up from the stands and began to walk away, down the beachfront to try and enjoy the rest of his day. It would be a few days, and between work and training, he would be pretty spent for time. Today may be his last chance to really enjoy some free time to himself.
It was some time later that Glass and his students joined the cyborgs aboard the main battleship, the former having been training while Glass finished his talks with the Generals of Earth's armies. Motioning to the pilot, the ship and all around it began to pick up, speeding towards the heavens and eventually breaking through the skies. The moon, covered by domed crater-cities, glowed a teal color as the artificial atmospheres diffused light in all directions, the lush green fields and brilliant blue lakes producing the mingled effect. One of the jewels of Earth's empire.

Some hours would have to pass before arriving at Mars, assuming the Asteroid Belt behaved itself. Glass settled into his cabin, deep in meditation, joined soon by the rest of his students as they prepared for the long flight.
They WILL make your Pokémon look better. Glossier steel, brighter flames, nicer fur, etc.
It's not just gonna be tournaments, but with new players coming in I need to figure a way to mesh everyone together and forge bonds. What better way then through battle? Once this we're kind of all buddy-buddy though, we'll see where we head with it.
