Bio

I'm Sterling, I've been writing/roleplaying for 11 years now. I like reading, writing, singing, dancing, horse back ridding and dog training.

I like highly detailed plots and games. While I don't think all posts should be three or four paragraphs long, I think it is harder to have quality with stunted posts.

I'm more into fantasy and historical than sci fi etc. but if the writers are good, that's really what matters.

Please feel free to message me. I'm fairly good at being nice.

Alrighty! The vague semblance of information for the two 'gangs' is up.
The Dragon should be a delivery person :D Like a bike messenger (dauntless) or something :D
Hey Boys and Girls...Though I might be the only...whatever!

Anyone want to volunteer to make some info for the Italian side of things?
Mafia might not be the right word. But Maybe it is...

La Familia

Affini and the D’Amore are practically house hold names now. In the early 1830’s the Affini and D’Amore families moved to New York City to start the family business in the new world. Every City needs a butcher and a cobbler. And every City needs an Italian Crime Family.

Setting roots in East Harlem the Affini’s and D’Amore’s were joined by Moretti, Pherigo, Savona and many more Italian and Sicilian names. Being ostracized and outcast by ‘Americans’ the families did what they always had done. Stuck together, made the best of what was handed to them, and above all else put Family First.

And in putting Family First perhaps the American Laws came second. With years of success and building an enterprise almost exclusively self-sufficient unto itself if you were part of the family you are sure to have a good seat in any restaurant, first to receive communion at mass, and the last cannoli at supper.

Tried and true methods have always kept The Family flush with cash and ripe with employment opportunities, and while the war certainly effected numbers and morale, The Family persevered .

The Family handles and any all business for itself, but if you are looking to place a bet, obtain a loan, get rid of a ‘troublesome neighbor’, buy an official, sell a secret, procure a drink or in general have a festive time… The Family can help out. For a price. Or a favor.
The Cassidy Crew

Regan and Sloane Cassidy came to America in 1900, with their three sons Keiran (10), Cullen (7) and Desmond (5). Regan quickly got a job in a factory and while it was hard work for a time he and his wife Sloane were able to live peacefully.

In 1902 they had their first and only daughter Fallon who was much loved (and tortured) by her older brothers. But with this extra mouth to feed, and in general with growing boys the Cassidy house hold fell on harder times. As resources became scarcer and the boys larger Sloane found she needed to take up work as well.

This meant her three boys quickly entering adolescence had time on their hands and not the careful eye of a mother to guide them in the right direction. Stealing and getting into fights were easily taken up as pass times, and with three brothers to back each other up the Cassidy Crew quickly were known around the block as lads you didn’t want to mess with.

Fallon was watched after prudently by her brothers and while they never minded getting their own hands dirty or running from shop keepers ,Keiran, Desmond and Cullen were always vigilant to keep their delicate sister well out of harm’s way.

Quickly the Cassidy Crew became much more than a neighborhood gang, and with each new member adding to the ranks the Cassidy Boys found themselves to provide for their family tenfold what their hard working parents could ever dream.

Suddenly being a Cassidy meant much more than having two brothers to cover your back and a propensity for stealing. It meant knowing your family would be fed at night and warm in bed. That you had 10 brothers, not 2. Or 20. Or more. It meant being looked in the eye with respect (or fear) and not being spat upon for being an immigrant or speaking with an accent. It meant a better life, albeit a more violent one.

Skip forward to the start of World War I. With each Cassidy the right age to go to war but with a Crew to maintain Keiran stayed home while Desmond and Cullen enlisted. That was until 1917 when the Selective Service Act caught him up. It was lucky (and unlucky) that Cullen was sent home wounded and discharged of his service. While lame Cullen kept the Crew (what was left of it considering the war) in hand and an eye on his blossoming sister.

It’s always been said the Cassidy’s had more luck then was healthy for a single family to have, but that luck got all three brothers back to New York and back to the Crew. More or less in one piece. Cullen will forever limp and Keiran occasionally has the ‘dark moods’, but the Cassidy’s will prevail!

And with the start of Prohibition Prevail they did. You don’t take whiskey away from an Irishmen.

The Cassidy Crew has many fingers in many pots but they specialize in acquisition (theft) and distribution (drink).
Sounds lovely. I have the brothers already named and vaguely designed appearance/attitude wise so why don't we collab?
@Jotunn Draugr

Definitely made up chars but if you want to make historical references and links that's fine. Just make sure you do your home work and have the facts right for real people.

I'd be glad for you to join the Irish Family. Hard Stuff would need quite a bit of editing so he could be higher ranking or if you think you can keep up with two you can make another char and we can collaborate via PMs. (not to be confused with PMS which is hard to collaborate with...)

@Orlan

I think a rat would do well. For a short period of time. Then die. Horribly. :)
Is it possible that I can make a crime Family/A crew that forms into a crime family?

You mean something small that will eventually become a big deal? If so, sure! Just run everything by me first. What were you thinking? I'd love to hear your ideas
<Snipped quote by Sterling>

If we're doing NYC, there's black gangs too. The Harlem Numbers racket was extremely lucrative and well-organized. Historically, Bumpy Johnson cut a deal with Lucky Luciano, which was pretty landmark since it was the first time a black gangster managed to cut a deal with an Italian crime family. This was later in the Prohibition, around the time that Lucky Luciano (who had backing from Meyer Lansky among others) managed to organize the Commission, which was more corporate and less feudal than the old Sicilian mob model. Things were kept that worked, but things that didn't got thrown out.

Anyway, that's getting ahead of the game. 1922 is basically all out war because of how much money Prohibition is making people, allowing greater access to guns and more reasons to use them.

So beyond that tl:dr, my character is Sicilian, but that doesn't mean his employers are. But as a Sicilian, he's eligible to be made if it ever came to that.

Of course! Black, white, Asian. I'm happy to see any and all. Thank you for providing interesting reading :). 1922, lots of war. I'm looking forward to it, though not just violence. I'm hoping for plot etc. I'm sure you'll be able to provide :D

Is there anything I can help you with?
