Bio

My Character Sheets | Santa Somabra | Maximum Comics | Verthaven | These roleplays are from roughly 2 years ago.

Hello all! I'm an Advanced RPer. I've been RPing for quite a while now...since I was a kid. I'm expecting a Bachelors in English this coming May (don't ask how; my skill as a creative writer has taken a seemingly irreparable blow after an encounter with major depression) as well as a minor in Psychology. I am an avid animal lover, photographer, and writer. I do a restricted amount of dabbling in drawing and painting.

About two years ago, I stopped using RP guild. It was for a myriad of reasons, but the topmost ones are major depression, the passing of my parrot (pictured as my banner at the top of my bio), and a relationship issue.

I'm back now!

Roleplaying always kept me at the top of my literate game. My vocabulary took a huge blow during my depression, and I'm eager to refine it. I've spent the last two years fixing my life, and I'd love for roleplaying to be an active part of my daily routine again!

Types of literature I'm interested in (in order of interest):
-Adult Fiction
-Science Fiction
-Fantasy
-Thriller
-Manga

My general interests and hobbies:
-Reading
-Writing
-Animal Welfare and Rights
-People Welfare and Rights
-Drawing (Amateur)
-Video Games
-Photography

Hey all. I feel much, much, better and should have a post up by tonight. I'm not sure if I'll be able to stick around for this rp, cause you all are posting rather quickly, and if the pace is too fast, I'm gonna drop out. No assurances, but just a fair warning.
Hey guys. Might hold off on my post a little. I don't feel so good right now...I don't know if it's because of something I ate or something. Either way, if I feel better, I might get one up tonight (EST) or tomorrow.
@Obscene Symphony So along as you can get in a post some time around this week. I didn't want to move the RP on without you, esp since you said you could get a post in soon, and it would have been just rude for me to disregard that. But, its no problem for me to wait a lil whiles longer. Hopefully everyone else feels the same way.
I think I might end up writing a rather long first post, so please bare with me, and I apologize in advance if it burns anyone's eyes out I don't think it'll get to that point, cause I might just end up cutting out parts that I think are a waste of time, but just in case, like I said, apologies in advance.

EDIT:

Just a reference image for Spot. I'll be putting it in Ishwarya's CS.
@Fillet

Hmm, I get you for the powerplaying part. I've both had GMs do that to me, and done that as a GM, and usually, in both cases, it was to advance the plot, no harm done. But I've also had GM's make their characters invincible to some other character, even when, at some point it'd be nice for someone other than the GM to always come out on top. And I just don't agree with that type of powerplaying, cause honestly, at that point, I really don't think it's for plot advancement.

Umm...I really hate it when people silently disappear. I'm sure lots of people must have cursed me to hell when I was younger for doing it so often, and I wouldn't really blame them for doing so So, definitely not looking forward to that! I think I have a few 1x1 ideas that I'd like to try, so I'm going to drop in, say hello, and see what happens. I think I feel a little more confident knowing not everyone is begging for smut. The rejecting of people is not what I'm looking forward too, but I don't like to leave people unanswered (unless I know them in real life ) so I shall just have to deal with it.
Er, just have to clarify that dropping out silently was something I would have done, as in past tense, back then. Now, I give heads up if I'm dropping out. Both because its generally rude not to say, but also because I can notify people that I'm taking my character down and that I in no way want the character's presence to persist in the RP or be played by someone else.
I wouldn't stay in an RP where the GM did any of that.

I don't think that specifying the gender of the characters necessarily needs to have anything to do with romance or smut. It could be friendship relationship too, or just a preference by the one who started the interest check. It might even be that you see everyone else writing interest checks like that and you end up doing the same.

I don't know if you'd find someone like that. I'd say it's worth the try though. It can be very difficult to find someone who's serious for a 1x1, but it's also the most rewarding, fun and creative way of RPing in my experience if you do find a good partner.

Yeah, you're right. I'd prefer to put my romantic pref in the actual thread, because I'm not too focused on romance, but then, thinking about it, putting it in the title is better. People who aren't interested in the pairings I like won't end up uselessly checking the thread and wasting their time only to see I'm not into the same thing as them.

I shall stay thinking about it. I'm very tempted to have a go and see who if anyone would be interested.
I didn't really want to start two threads. So, here goes.

Do you stay if the GM is a godmodder or a special snowflake maker? Since rejoining Guild I've been so limited in how many RP's I join that I forgot all about this aspect of RPing.

But, as I'm sure I'll encounter these people some time in the future, its a genuine question. If the GM is godmodding or powerplaying the hell out of your and other's characters, do you just drop out, or do you say something first? Or do you stay, and why?

I've seen people very passively take this kind of behavior before...but I don't particularly like it. The superhero RP I was in just prior to Guild going down had a GM who was like that, and a lot of us took it in silence, me included. My typical tactic would have (as in past tense; not something I generally do today) just been to silently disappear without saying anything to the GM, or anyone for that matter, but I really particularly connected with one of the people I was RPing with and really didn't want to just drop out.

But I'm a changed woman now. I tend not to respond passively to things anymore, at least not in real life. But is there even any merit to telling a GM they're being unfair or godmodding? Or telling a GM off when they say 'NO SPECIAL SNOWFLAKES' and their character is the epitome of a special and unbeatable snowflake?

Also anyone know any good superhero RPs that are presently open? Or, actually, maybe not. I don't even know if I remember how to write a superhero anymore. All I know now is that Batman is my secret boyfriend and Batgirl is my secret girlfriend

SECOND QUESTION

WHAT ARE ONE X ONE'S LIKE?

Because, to be frank, I've considered putting myself out there for a one on one. The only thing I don't like is the amount of MxF, MxM, FxF, stuff that I see in the interest checks. Not because I'm against romance in an RP (though I generally hate when romance is the only focus of an RP that is not expressly advertised as a romance only RP, especially an Advanced one), but because, while I quite enjoy romance, I'm also really heavy on friendship driven RPs, maybe because all my close friendships have been...so good and so refreshing and so just as good as romance that I believe friendship deserves its own spotlight. I really love friendship as much as romance.

The other thing is, I'm not into writing smut with other people. I'll do it for private writing or fanfiction, but I won't do it with another person, 1) because I can't really verify the age of another person online, and 2) I just don't like it. I had a very...weird experience, when I was practically a kid, RPing with a sixteen year old teenager. I think I was twelve. Anyway, not to elaborate on it, it's not my favorite thing to do.

And 3) What I would really want in a 1x1 is a partner who's main focus isn't always sexy time or romance. Someone who's into to deeper conflicts, or even roleplays stylized after contemporary adult fiction...that is, very devoid of exaggerated and fake flamboyance of Young Adult fiction, and more...toned down.

Like I never watched Her, but to RP something like it with someone else sounds intense. It's something I'd really like...but will I find someone, preferably an Advanced RPer, in the 1x1 Int Chk to fit the bill? Is it even worth the try? I think most of my negative impression comes from the overwhelming amount of "mature RP'ers" titles that I see in the Int Chk, that I usually take to mean, "RP WILL HAVE SEX IN IT"...But yeah. Pls help.

EDIT: ALSO

I don't want a superqueer. I like my same-sex relationships, but god, I don't want a fetishsizer or a QUEERS ARE THE BEST DESTROY ALL CIS HET SCUM type of partner, just because I also happen to identify on some spectrum of the Kinsey scale. Of course, I think I wouldn't have to worry about this one too much...actually I'm not sure.
So, as @Penguinimus hasn't been on in a few days we might have to move on without them. Though I'm still waiting for @Obscene Symphony to post. So, I mean, that may give Penguin some leeway, just in case they're busy and can't attend to Guild rn.

Blood Status:
Pureblood

Age:
11

Gender:
Female

Personality:
Shy and quiet, Ishwarya has always found it difficult to make friends. Raised in a cultural household where obedience to education and intelligence came first, she has been molded into a young girl who very stringently follows the rules and dutifully sticks to her studying. Her shyness has only been a hindrance in making friends where the people concerned are too impatient and unwillingly to listen to her quiet voice. However, what friendships she does forge are usually strong.

Ishwarya is also extremely gentle, and has a seemingly infinite amount of patience, surprising for her age. She is especially good with animals, and can be especially good with the feelings of other people, if given the chance. Her gentle and supportive manner can be the cure to an unhappy day for many, and sooth away worries. Her parents took an early note of her affinity for helping and caring, and adopted for her an old crup with which she visited many witches and wizards in need of some affection therapy at Mungo's. When the old crup passed on, they adopted a second, much younger, which up till her departure to Hogwarts, did as his predecessor had and accompanied his young master on therapeutic trips to Mungo's.

She is also prone to nerves and anxiety, most apparent prior to a test or big presentation. Her nervousness extends beyond the academic realm as well; she can become easily nervous in first time introductions, and while she is a normally diligent speaker (when not standing at the head of a classroom delivering a presentation), she can trip over and butcher words in simple one on one introductions. Because Ishwarya was taught to defer to the "higher power" as a child, she is not known for disobeying teachers and similar educational enforcers. Similarly, she will allow bullies and relatively abrasive friends to walk all over her. While her father approves of her obedient nature to school authorities, her mother fears that, without supportive friends, she will never overcome her shyness.

Ishwarya also has an insatiably curiosity, and perhaps her curiosity is truly where she pushes boundaries. Of course, she pushes them in a very docile and obedient way, but nevertheless, it is the greatest amount of defiance she is capable of mustering up, for now. Ishwarya doesn't necessarily care about being extremely knowledgeable or well-rounded; in fact, she quite like her average little position in the world. Rather, she desires to know about the things she wants to know about, and not all of the things she apparently needs to know about. It has been frustrating for her parents to watch her toss aside classic literature in favor of contemporary fantasy, or forget about biology to (illegally) play Quidditch in her parent's yard with her father's broom.

Ishwarya, while shy, is friendly. That is to say, once she's overcome the awkwardice of introductions, and the rocky beginnings of a newly blooming friendship, she can become very sociable. Now, that isn't to say she become some social butterfly. She just becomes very easy with the people she becomes familiar with, and facilitates conversations more often. She is more interested in them and what they have to say, especially if she views them as a "good" person or friend.

Appearance:
Ishwarya is a tall and skinny girl with long and almost elegant features. Being eleven, and only just entering puberty, she's still got the telltale signs of prepubescence in awkward proportions and the generically weird features that children tend to have when they begin to go from child to teenager. However, as with all people, she's still got basic features that will stay the same through most of her life. Ishwarya has a flat, angled, face, with low cheekbones and pronounced edges. Her dark almost black eyes are large and round, complimented by neat arching eyebrows, and are usually the first thing people see (typically because they look so worried or frightened upon introduction). She's got a small button nose, and her lips are medium in size. As mentioned before, Ishwarya is gangly, and her body often reflects the type of one who was meant to be a runner, being small and streamlined. However, Ishwarya's overall appearance may make some think of her as fragile or breakable.

Wand Material:
Cedar || Unicorn Hair || 10" || The willingness of Ishwarya's wand to change owners lies somewhere in the middle of things. Partially sentient as it is, the wand sees in Ishwarya the potential to be of a different character, if she pushed herself hard enough. Already, she possesses the loyalty Cedar wands are so fond of. But she does not yet have the fire that accompanies the owner of a Cedar, the want to protect their friends with the aggressiveness of a dragon or agitated hippogriff. It could be said that her wand is skeptical. As to weather or not it stays with her is yet to be seen.

Boggart:
Seeing her crup taken away. It is perhaps, not the scariest of fears to others, but it terrifies her enough for her boggart to manifest in such a way.

Other:
She owns a three year old crup, Spot, who, like all crups, is generically extremely loyal towards his owner. Spot still has his a pronounced stub where his second tail used to be, due to a bad cropping; the Singh's have passed the tail stump's presence off as a birth defect, making him relatively easy to keep.
