Bio

My name, as you may have noticed, is Sven. The last part of my username is a historical reference to an important person in Dutch history, William the Silent to be specific, an important leader during the Dutch revolt. If this didn't tell you already, I love history. I eat, breath and sleep history. Anything involving a historically correct setting will most likely draw my interest, whether it is during the first or perhaps the second World War, the colonial age, or even the the ancient times during the Roman Empire.

Now to sum this up to an easy and bite sized piece of information, I will most likely be down for the following scenarios or genres in terms of roleplay:

- Apocalyptic settings, whether that be Zombie or natural disasters. (Both post-apocalyptic and during the apocalypse itself.)
- Roleplays during the first or the second World War are things I enjoy immensly and that is something i'm very knowledgeable on as well.
- Ancient Rome, love it. If you have anything to do with that or possibly with things like that such as the Greek city states, I will most likely be interested.
- Videogames, roleplays based on video games such as the Metro or the Fallout series are things I can also enjoy.

I'd rather keep the current number mostly for balance. Every other province thus far has a larger population and I'd rather not be crushed within the first year.

You control a rather large area and you already have a small population, so I understand. I think even in your current condition it would be very hard to defend. Fortunately, the areas around you. (Including me) mostly have a low population as well. :P
My character sheet is finished i'd say. Might put some additional data into the biography though. I tend to ramble on so I cut it short in the end.
I couldn't find any information on the population of Qinghai what-so-ever so I just took the modern population and divided it by 25%.

Well, if you like you can always apply the data I've provided you. You'd probably have to substract a few hundered thousand from the 1936 number though if you wanted to do that. :)
Before we get too into exact numbers and such, remember that this is alternate history. There is leeway for provinces to develop differently than they did in real life, including variations in population. So long as it's reasonable for the location and terrain, I'm happy for states to have ahistoric stats. Balance is much more important.

I know, I just get some satisfaction from being able to find information and being to help people out with population numbers and even weapons if they would like some information on that. (I'm aware nobody asked, but I was curious regardless and figured I might as well post population data here.)
@Chairman Stein I've been looking through the active characters currently present on the character page, and I have noticed that your population is much higher then it should be. The offical and earliest population census that has been accepted as fact claims your area to have a population of 1,676,534 million people in 1953. The information I have found myself regarding the population of all the provinces gives a number of 1,196,100 million people in 1936. The time table it's on goes back further but has no population information on your province going further back then the year 1936. I would assume that the population would be even less if we go back 26 years to 1910, most likely by a few hunderd thousand atleast.

I don't see any events I have overlooked so I think i'm pretty accurate, just figured you might enjoy some more detailed information on the population. (Don't feel obliged to change things though, we're not bound to be historically accurate. I'm just a sucker for accuracy myself.)
Only reason I selected the numbers I did was because I have no idea what I should be making the actual numbers. Seems to be a 'pick a figure and go with it' kind of deal without rules or guidelines.

It requires you to do some research, it really isn't that hard to look for reliable sources or population censuses on the region you're controlling. You can read through some of its history as well, so you know what's up or what's going to be coming your way.

Also, by doing a quick search on your province I found out that you are currently in the middle of an epidemic of the pneumonic plague, it was the worst-ever recorded outbreak of the pneumonic plague which was spread through the Trans-Manchurian railway.

Edit: Some research into your province gives me the number of 15,834,000 million in 1908 for the entire population in the area of what would later become the puppet state of Manchukuo. (Your province is a small area of the formentioned land and thus 10 million for the total population may be a little high.)

Second Edit: My sources give a rough figure of 5,350,000 million for the population of Jilin in 1911, which should be slightly higher in 1910 because of the plague that started in 1910.
If you want personal recommendations, I recommend the Nambu, the Type 30, the Type 38, the Nagant, the Madsen and the Type 26 with the 37mm as a support gun

I mind you that he needs to look at the number produced. The Nagant for example had 2,000,000 units produced and was in service from 1986 to 1950 in Russia and Belgium. The page gives and average of 20,000 produced each year. Say they produced them untill 1930, which is near the year that they were ''obsolete'' and replaced by better variants. That's 44 years or roughly 45,000 models a year. We're in 1910 at the moment so that makes 1,080,000 produced by then. If we're claiming what i'm using as a ''fact'' that is. I recall his army having 800,000 conscripts. That would only leave 280,000 pistols to be devided between Belgium and the Russian army, the latter being the one it was specifically produced for. Therefor it seems highly unlikely that he would have a high quantity of a sparesly produced pistol. (I'm aware you never said every soldier had one, but you did not include it as a support gun which made me assume it was part of the main armament.)

So basically, i'm being a buzzkill. But I love realism, and I think that people should take things like the above into account.

Edit: Japan would also never-ever supply weapons to any Chinees faction in that time, unless they were a proper Japanees puppet regime. I'm aware there are smugglers, but with the quantity produced of many of the weapons it's very unlikely he will have enough weapons to field such a large army.

Edit to the edit: You are also supplying him with fairly modern rifles, which is not very accurate. Try giving him the single shot old rifles from the 1880's and what not. Because that was much more common those days. There is a reason that the Japanees used Banzai charges against the Chinees on numerous occassions. Simply because they had one shot rifles and couldn't do much to repel the charges succesfully.

(I hope this helps, don't want to be a dick, just giving some information.)

Edit of the edit to the edit: Am I accepted by the way? My character sheet is 95% done, only the biography needs to be added. The rest has been finished, as accurately and historically correct as I could, I might add.
Found a population census dating back to 1900, jackpot. The information and figures are debatable, but that's the situation for all Chinees population census's going back that far.
