The Nirim are a twisted amalgamation of old world faith and new world ideologies. They believe they are being punished, that The Mother's eyes are closed to them and that they must suffer and serve penitence in order to be welcome back into her embrace. They believe in coexisting in harmony with The Mother's vision, their ideology instructing them that the world has been remade to better temper mankind into something worthy of someday returning to The Mother's gardens.
Their ideals do not prevent them from defending themselves, in fact, it's expected. Humans are meant to know struggle, loss, and death. Their primary city of Concordia, based west of the city, is surrounded with a wooden palisade reinforced with scrap metal. Simple wooden towers dot the corners of the compound. A simple moat has been done several feet from the walls and filled with wooden stakes. There is a single, manually operated drawbridge facing towards Glass that allows traffic to enter and leave the community.
The Nirim are known for their simple life style, embracing hard work and punishment. They are excellent farmers, craftsmen, and animal tenders. Their defensive strategies center around watchtowers, with signal lamps and mirrors, and a countryside dotted with traps and pitfalls. The have missionaries, who travel to other communities and try to convert others to a simpler way of life. As an aside, The Nirim cultivate several different types of stimulating flora that are processed into powerful psychoactive drugs.
