Origin Nation Name: The Heath
Nation Description: Nothing much grows here, nothing much happens, in fact it would be perfectly acceptable to suggest this place only exists in the memories of those unfortunate enough to have passed through on their journey somewhere else. Dry, unforgiving landscapes give way to a silence Adeline has long since forgotten, people don’t live in the Heath, they exist. A droll, monotonous existence of few words and fewer smiles.
Allegiances: None, as of yet. Adeline doesn’t tend to make commitments she can’t keep.

Summary: How to say obnoxious in an endearing way? There isn’t one, and if there is a side of Adeline anyone would find endearing it’s probably to get her own way about something. Not that she wants people to find her manipulative or scheming, or indeed forthright or disagreeable, but well she has that way! Perhaps on first encounters anyway..
Fiercely independent and with a flair for drama and a cheap laugh Adeline will often come across brash and to be honest abrasive but there’s got to be some good in there right? Perhaps somewhere but unfortunately it’s buried deep and it’s going to take more than the drinks lined up on the bar to find them.
Mental Strengths:Surprisingly loyal and steadfast in her word to a select few.
Strong willed and a fiery temper, but not unwilling to compromise and see things from the other perspective once in a while.
Generally good humoured, well in a kind of satirical only she is laughing kind of way.
Mental Weaknesses:Horribly self centred, and she bloody well knows it
Uncaring in such a way that anyone looking in from the outside might think she were trying to hide something
Adeline is not very booksmart, not that she’d ever let on she has any weakness mind you, a huge insecurity for her and one which she will play down readily in conversation.
Loves/Likes: Being the centre of attention, naturally.
A damn cold drink, and no it’s not an addiction if she doesn’t go to meetings.
The city, the noise, the streets, the.. yeah you get it. City Stuff.
Hates/Dislikes:Facing her own limits
Reading, because ugh they make the words so small and squashed up..
The Heath, god only knows she hopes to forget the silence of that god damned hellhole someday.
Fears:Anyone finding out she can’t read well, or even basic maths. Knowledge is power right? And to Adi, power is everything.
Dying cold, alone and in silence - surely that’s everyone’s fear though right? She’s no special snowflake here, no one wants that shit. It’s just sad.
Brief BackgroundThe Heath, a barren wasteland of a place with nothing to excite the senses or entice the imagination. Well that one time there was a stick shaped like a hand.. It was.. Yeah you get the picture. Bloody depressing. For a growing up here, there really wasn’t much to shape a growing mind, just exist, that’s all there is to it.
Adeline’s life changed when she turned seventeen, she didn’t leave The Heath in any dramatic, angsty way or leave behind any bitter memories or unresolved murders (naturally). There was a weather watcher in the town she grew up in, a curious man with not much to say, he mainly jabbered rubbish about the clouds and incoming storms but it was his paintings Adeline fell in love with. He drew great swollen skies of purple and navy and brilliant hot sunsets which could sear the skin. One day Adeline saw in one of his pictures a glittering horizons, huge monoliths of granite and a blanket of grey smog enveloping the twinkling lights. She asked right away what it was and the old weather watcher told her about the city, it exists, it’s terrible but it exists! He would say before reaching for his trusty tinfoil hat. Without any modicum of a plan, direction or sense Adeline left then, she said her goodbyes and caught a ride from some of the merchants who’d pass through every second Wednesday of the month.
She’s never looked back, the city really is as terrible and unforgiving as that old weather watcher whispered. And she thrives in it.
T A L E N T S
MagicNone, and to be quite honest Adeline doesn’t have the tolerance to wonder about hocus pocus and mirror tricks.. simply out of ignorance.
TechnologyNone
Skills- Skill 1 Manipulation: Adeline has a certain way with words and so tends to be the only way she can get anything done. If someone else does it for her.
- Skill 2 Pickpocketing: Well a girls got to be good at something to get by in a city like this! Well besides fluttering the old eyelashes.
- Skill 3 Basic Hand to Hand: Adeline doesn’t consider herself a fighter, she’d much rather have someone else do the bidding for her, but she’s alright with her hands if she needs to be.
PowersNone
O T H E R
Adeline has never had a job, not a real one anyway, she found herself lurking in the underworld of the city from the minute she stepped foot on it’s concrete carpet. She’s done alright for herself there though and doesn’t see it as thieving or dealing, she’s simply resituating goods into the right hands.
Player Input:Well after a long time of being out the role playing game I’m jumping back in! I spent a while reading different RP backgrounds in the forums (and on different sites) and I liked what this one had to offer, kind of a dystopian vibe but still full of all the excitement of old school magic. Love it!
Well from what I’ve seen so far (which isn’t a lot but I’m rolling with the general feeling here) I get the impression other people who are interested are also dedicated people and I believe I’m not the type to let people down!
Yes. Unquestionably. Unlike my RP character I know my own limits! Haha. No seriously, of course I would. And in any likelihood of that happening I would kill off my character in a deeply dramatic and probably quite comical way. You know to tie up loose ends.
